Say he didn’t, is there anything to stop him being co-opted back onto the board again? Constitutionally, no. And actually, in Calvin's case, he did stand for the board at the AGM in October and didn't get enough votes to be elected. Given the circumstances a couple of months later, I think people were willing to let that slide when he was co-opted. However, practically speaking, in most other situations it isn't something I think the board would entertain the idea of and without a very thorough explanation would be suicidal from a PR point of view. For what it's worth, I think anybody who is co-opted onto the board should be presented to the members beforehand and an affirmative vote be held by the membership on whether they accept the co-option. Currently, the rules pretty much allow the board to co-opt any Tom, Dick or Harry without any scrutiny from the membership. Didn't a similar thing happen back in the early days. Mike Vickers I think it was. Voted off one day and co-opted back on the next.

Confirmed that Marcus Bignot and Russ O’Neill have joined Guiseley as joint-managers. All the best at your new club Marcus! Are Guiseley copying us with the joint-manager approach perhaps? Copying us?? Unless I've missed something, we haven't actually confirmed the appointments. It’s a bit obvious now though. Just waiting for the 20:00 announcement.

Speaking of Chesterfield, Neil Redfearn has also been linked with them. Could it be that he has stalled talks with Chester to go through the interview process at Chesterfield? Being just south of Yorkshire it geographically makes a lot more sense. Would be on more £ too. Not a rumour, just an idea. Martin Allen has been appointed as Chesterfield manager.

Marcus Bignot could be announced as the new Guiseley manager at 16:00 today. Confirmed that Marcus Bignot and Russ O’Neill have joined Guiseley as joint-managers. All the best at your new club Marcus! Are Guiseley copying us with the joint-manager approach perhaps? Not convinced how well that will work for them. Whereas Johnson and Morley are an established managerial team who have been joint managers for years, it looks like an arranged marriage for Guiseley between Bignot and O’Neill. Bignot certainly is used to being the outright number one who would have the final say on team selections, something that may not be the case if they are regarded as equals.

Imagine if it was Jon McCarthy and this whole thing was just an elaborate troll from the club.

It’s kind of just semantics though isn’t it? Managers always have a management team behind him, and even in a joint manager situation, surely there must be one who has the final say?

Pretty happy with this to be honest. Do we get a BBC documentary out of it as well? Bernard and Jonno - The Next Chapter A spin off from Holloaks?

Take away our perception of their personalities, taken from selected clips from a documentary.
They have just won the league we are now in They have been successful at Ramsbottom with a small budget. They have excellent knowledge of North West players at this level, and below. They are in their 30s. Not multiple failures at loads of previous clubs. They have (apparently) come cheaper than what we had last season.
They tick all the boxes.
I remember from the documentary that it was the lady executive at Salford that suggested them. She said their teams were always the hardest to play against.
My concern would be the promotion of any Youth players through to the first team. That was my initial negative thought. However, you must admit if it wasn't for the antics from the programme, we'd be ecstatic with these appointments. Given what we were expecting!

Odd post that. I've been ruder than that before without much reaction and then you post this in response to a somewhat conciliatory post. I was sort of agreeing with you that we'd just have to wait and see how they turn out. It was in response your comment about my last post being a more measured response. Again, whether you think my posts are measured or not is not a concern of mine. Maybe now you can stop following my posts with snide remarks about not having a brain cell. Hold on a minute. You're the first to pipe up if someone even remotely criticizes the club for anything even when desvered. Yet you can do the same, say what you did then when people pick you up on it you throw your toys out the pram. Brilliant!!!

This pair are a joke. Not happy with this at all. Cue a 2 year deal for both of them which we will end up paying off with Murphy's money How are the board unanimous in the decision? Surely there's half a brain cell between them Don't usually agree with anything you say Oaks, but I'm with you on this one. Terrible appointments.

Why?
They have just won the league we are in. They have knowledge of North West based players and certainly wouldn't put up with players on inflated saleries, doing the bare minimum.

If I had a time machine I wouldn't bother with the almanac for eternal wealth.
I would go back to last summer and post on here we were to fuck ourselves up close to extinction, take outside investment, and appoint Johnson and Morley!

Well, it certainly won’t be dull. I just hope that Jonno and Bern know and understand the importance of Calum’s role and don’t stifle the development of the talented young players we have at the club. The Class of 92 documentary did portray them as brash and arrogant, but we all know that makes for good TV. Hopefully, the years of experience they have now gained has taught them that there is a time and a place for ranting, and that sometimes and with some players, particularly younger players, they need an arm around their shoulders. They’re ambitious and have had huge success. They are inevitably going to rub some people up the wrong way and there will undoubtedly be fall outs. We have to be prepared for that. Many of us have argued that both McCarthy and Bignot were too ready to make excuses for the players’ pitiful performances last season. Having read this article, I think they have known that the split with Salford has been coming for a while. If the expected appointment is confirmed I wish them good luck and hope that we all get behind them. www.coachesvoice.com/salford-city-gary-neville/I would recommend anyone and everyone to read that interview with them both. Gives an insight into how both of them work together. And also into their mindset. Both VERY ambitious from the looks of it. A particular section of that article also stands out whereby the Fleetwood owner advised Gary Neville about managers reaching a plateau. These lads don't agree at all so sounds like they're coming in with a point to prove. Hope they can realise their ambition with us and more importantly that we can give them an environment that gives them both the best chance to realise that ambition Read that. I spotted that they said Ramsbottom came from Step 7. I don't think they were ever Step 7. Otherwise encouraging read.
