This pair are a joke. Not happy with this at all. Cue a 2 year deal for both of them which we will end up paying off with Murphy's money How are the board unanimous in the decision? Surely there's half a brain cell between them Don't usually agree with anything you say Oaks, but I'm with you on this one. Terrible appointments. Can you find anything positive to say about this football club? It must be absolutely dreadful to be so depressingly negative about everything.

Extract from Chester First - “There will be two proposals for the board to consider (on Monday night),” City Fans United chairman David Harrington-Wright explained. “I’m hopeful the board will be able to make a decision and make an offer to our chosen candidate. I certainly hope that will be the case. “From the club’s perspective we now need to get someone in place as soon as possible. There now needs to be movement in terms of next season, the set-up and how the squad looks and those are decisions for the new manager. “If things move forward in the way I hope they will, then I hope we will make a positive decision for the football club. The decision must be made for the good of Chester.” Asked if both of the final candidates are of a high calibre which will satisfy the club’s long-suffering fanbase, the chairman replied: “Very much so, both are very good candidates in my opinion. “Just as our initial preferred candidate was generally received as being of high calibre, I think the general fanbase and everyone connected with the club will be pleased with the names we’re considering.” There were one or two little hints from DHW there if you read it carefully!

It was in response your comment about my last post being a more measured response. Again, whether you think my posts are measured or not is not a concern of mine. Maybe now you can stop following my posts with snide remarks about not having a brain cell. Hold on a minute. You're the first to pipe up if someone even remotely criticizes the club for anything even when desvered. Yet you can do the same, say what you did then when people pick you up on it you throw your toys out the pram. Brilliant!!! Luke90 I've just read your entire 6 post history on this site, you are in no position to criticise me I'm afraid. Donald trump has more elegance

I'm made up with this one.
Of course a documentary showed them shouting and screaming at the players, it made for good television. They were never going to show the clip where they were quietly telling their full back to overlap the winger were they?
Look at their record, it is immense. You do not achieve what they have without being very good coaches. They have won the league we are about to enter, they have the personalities to turn around the losing culture that we've fallen into and they are a SAVING on what were paying last year.
Add onto that the fact that they are local, know non-league football inside out and, according to the Chron, are very knowledgable about U23 football and you have a winning formula.
Wouldn't be too concerned about the youth team. That will have been one of the first items on the job descriptions, they've applied knowing we've got a great youth team and I'm sure they'll use it.
If this news makes you want to tell everyone how you'll not be renewing your season ticket, then I give up. Feeling positive about the club for the first time in ages.

We've had worse weeks. The last time I was this excited we'd just beaten Aldershot away! Mcarthys finest hour, I bet he still tells people of that day. The board have pulled off a masterstroke. Local knowledge, won the league before, and on a lesser wage than what we were paying last season. I can't see where anyone can have any complaints.

Yep, can’t argue with this decision, seems a very good call to me at this stage.
Show us what you’re capable off and bring winning football to the Deva at least and you'll get a good response from the fans.
Welcome to Chester ⚽️

Before people complain let's look at the people the fans wanted to bring in Davis a man who failed at Crewe with Dario gradis players poor win ratio as well Redfearn a man who is foolish only manager of a ladies team Sharps no track record as a manager Walsall couldn't wait to get rid of him Nicholson no record at this league will be a great coach So whilst I am not convinced by these two they are better than what as been touted

This process has endured plenty of twists and turns, but I think it’s been worth the long wait. At the start I would’ve liked Redfearn to be our new manager. With his experience at Leeds and Rotherham as well as his successful record working with academy players, I thought that he would be the man. He was very close to landing it but when talks broke down, it was obviously a bit disappointing. After that I honestly had know idea on who it could be. I came to the conclusion the other day that my choice would have to be Graham Barrow. Sadly I wasn’t around when he was at this club but I’ve heard plenty of positive things about him. However, he doesn’t have too much knowledge of this level. Also, would we really want to risk damaging our love for him if things were to turn out badly? Just look at what has happened to Kingsley James and Ross Hannah.
Anyway, I was catching up on the Morley and Johnson speculation this afternoon which hit the nail on the head for me. ‘Oswald’ created a thread on here a week or so ago about them both. I thought to myself ‘why can’t we give them a go?’ despite a few posters criticising his suggestion. It’s fair to say that Oswald has now won Deva Chat over so fair play to him. The thing that got me about this duo is that they tick most of the boxes that we require. They are coming into our club fresh from a promotion out of this very league, they are young, determined, have experience of the NLN, are North West-based and will most definitely have good contacts. That list can go on but seriously, are there many better managers out there that we can attract? The fact that these two are willing to come back into this league rather than joining a bigger club, fills me up with hope and optimism. A couple of posters on this board seem to be against their ‘bigheadedness’. Seriously? What’s wrong with a bit of passion? This is just what we need. We’ve been lacking this type of character for a year or two at least.
I know that our board isn’t the full shilling all of the time, and can make silly mistakes. Credit where it’s due though, they have done really well to handle this process professionally and have appointed an exciting duo. With this also not affecting the impeccable donation by Mr Murphy as well, is almost like a bargain.
I’m really looking forward to the next two years now under Anthony and Bernard. We have two winners joining the ship who can hopefully steer us away from the choppy waters that have struck us for the past two years. Also not to mention is their incredible winning percentage. I believe it is in the region of 61% which is brilliant. Maybe they had a lot of money to spend at Salford, but at Ramsbottom they didn’t where they still did extremely well.
Now though, we all have to do OUR bit. Let’s dust this apathy off our shoulders and look forward to this fresh era. Of course there will be doubters lingering around but I’m sure most of our fan base will be more than happy with this appointment. Lets smash the season ticket sales for this season as who knows, we may witness an exciting campaign. I’m not asking for promotion straight away at all. It will still be extremely tough to get out of this division, but if we can push for the play-offs this year, then better that the following season then we may have a chance. Let’s all undergo a fresh, clean slate and back both Anthony and Bernard. I’m sure the ‘new season optimism’ will start to kick in soon. For me, it’s starting now. Of course we have to sort out our retained list, confirm friendlies, and sign players but it’s nice to be feeling optimistic for a change. Here’s to a positive future. Welcome to Chester FC Anthony and Bernard.

It's been a fully old week hasn't it.
Big donation coming in fingers crossed and now we bring in the two lads who helped win the title last week who both have a 60% win ratio.
I was a bit disheartened this morning about the appointment, then concerned about cost. But reading the interview on thee coaches voice site earlier reading up about them and their record at their clubs I'm looking forward to what they can both bring to the table.
Be interesting if anything

When things go wrong at a football club then the Manager normally gets the blame, and generally the sack as well. Three sacked managers later, and rightly so in my opinion, and the club has been relegated. Clearly there has been much more wrong at Chester FC than the past three managers, and much justified criticism has come the way of many board members, and an incredibly incompetent CEO. However, as of tomorrow morning, I believe any blame cannot any longer be pointed at this management pair. Not only is it a good appointment (the duo), but I cannot see how a better appointment would have been possible. Now the pressure is wholly on the board to ensure the infrastructure and commercial activity fully supports these two characters. At this point in time I see the unknown with excitement instead of fear. All the best Lads.
