A very good fiend of mine reads the Daily Heil and whenever we go anywhere together I tell him no to bring that vile rag with him because I don't want that filth in my car. As Mark (NWAS) suggested I read up the on the nazi Rothermere family and Dacre (editor) and they are the type of people that repulse me. I've tried telling people who read the Heil that it is all the things described above but none of them seem to listen. I never bought either newspaper, except the day after we beat Leeds 3-0 I bought every newspaper I could including the Sun. I was so excited to read very report, even though I'd been to the match. BTW Sterling played better yesterday, but he still spurned a chance to put the game to bed in the first half. All this bile against the Mail and the Sun makes me laugh when they are by far the two best selling papers in the UK - or maybe the whole country is racist. Nearly right Billy. Only people that buy the Mail and the Sun are racist, so yes we still have a racism problem.

I read The Week, which is a weekly magazine which summarises the events of the week without any leanings. Edit ~ I've just looked up what the Morning Star is and Billy I don't know whether to laugh or get angry. You certainly are way off the mark there Billy and to suggest it is an insult really.

I get my news from RT, The Canary, Another Angry Voice and Evolve Politics.
I'll let you know if any of them report on Sterling.

My last word on the subject, which incidentally you started.

The idea that an entire workforce at a news media organisation & every single individual who consumes that media would all hold the same opinion on any issue seems a bit mad to me.

People on a forum saying a man who has just scored 18 goals and 11 assists in the premier league has no footballing brain. You couldn't write it Compared to someone like Ineista, Hazard, Mertens etc. He hasn't. Scoring goals in the Premier is far different. to being consistently good on the International stage. That is why they are world class and he isn't or haven't you noticed? Why would you even try to compare Stirling to those players? No England player has been in that class for years, probably never in the case of Iniesta. Yet Iniesta is back home and Sterling will be starting in a World Cup Semi Final. It's all about the team/the collective this time around for England and like him or not (I'm not a massive fan tbh), Stirling has been an important cog in Southgate's machine.
Come on England!!

Hannibal, The Week has a central leaning. I'm surprised by your statement that it has no leanings. You couldn't possibly report on anything without bias of some kind. It is naive in the extreme to believe otherwise.

I appreciate you want to be offended, but I can't see what Hannibal has said that is particularly shocking.

Perhaps you have trouble with reading or comprehending - he said that people who buy the Mail or Sun are racists - as the two papers have the largest circulation in the U.K. how can he make such a libellous sweeping statement.

Probably to paint all readers of those 2 iniquitous rags as racist is too much of a generalisation, but to defend either of them is shameful. I'm told the racing section in the S*n is ok, but I'm not a racing fan and I know women who read the Heil do so because of certain features. I said I read The Week because it has no leanings and someone said it leans to the centre. What kind of leaning is that, lol?

I said I read The Week because it has no leanings and someone said it leans to the centre. What kind of leaning is that, lol? Leaning; Your particular leanings are the beliefs, ideas, or aims you hold or a tendency you have towards them. Synonyms: tendency, liking for, bias, inclination In politics, centrism—the centre (British English/Canadian English/Australian English) or the center (American English/Philippine English)—is a political outlook or specific position that involves acceptance or support of a balance of a degree of social equality and a degree of social hierarchy, while opposing political changes which would result in a significant shift of society either strongly to the left or the right.[1] So here we can clearly see that the centrist paper "The Week" holds political bias (synonym - 'leaning'). But I am certain that a man of your calibre is well aware of the shaky semantic base for your argument. Not nearly as laughable as Sychdyn railing against the BBC for biased news reporting on many occasions yet upholding Russia Today as a viable news source though.
