Thought I'd start the match thread early with the news that football is returning to the Swansway!
Please get down to support the lads after a month with no gate income at the club. Let's get a really good gate Saturday.
BPA have made an incredible start to the season and sit third in the table so it's going to be tough but I'm going for an exciting 2-2 draw with Dudley and Mahon scoring.
2,196 attendance with 78 BPA.
UP THE SEALS

Got a feeling that after all the trials and tribulations at the Deva over the last month or so, there may well be a bit of an expectant atmosphere on Saturday, almost as if the season is starting again.
Think we'll respond to this and going for a 2-0 win with 1850 excitable souls there to witness it!

Firstly I must thank every single soul who has worked tirelessly around the clock to get this match on. That includes our board members, our volunteers, our chairman and the brilliant companies who have got everything ready (some people even had to do double shifts). I for one was disgusted with all of the conspiracy theorists (some of whom were our ‘supporters’) and I’m so glad that they will now have nothing to moan about.
Since Spennymoor, we have had to play 4 matches away from home with two of those ending in big disappointments. However, our performance at Guiseley last weekend was much more spirited and improved so I’m hoping that we will bring that spirit into Saturday. 4 successive away games has disrupted our season as well as preventing any momentum, but all of our troubles are over with now and I’d say that we undergo a fresh start on Saturday.
This match is a tough one to predict really. Bradford (Park Avenue) AFC have started really strongly, but the old ‘home advantage’ cliché will be in our favour as our support is far superior to there’s. The Yorkshire side have won the vast majority of there matches and sit in second place. Our form has been inconsistent of late but in our only home game we shown some positive signs.
Once again thank you to everyone who has worked amazingly well to get this game ahead so let’s hope that they will be rewarded. This will be the first of two back-to-back home fixtures with this obviously looking the tougher game. There is nothing to be scared of Bradford though. I know they have made a great start, but we will be backed by a strong vocal support who will get behind the lads from the off. Also, our pitch should be in an immaculate condition which gives us no excuse not to be playing the ball on the ground. It’s been a while, but I can finally say that I am looking forward to watching us back at the Swansway. We have lost plenty of income over the past month, so PLEASE get down to the ground, help YOUR local club out and pack the Deva. Our season begins on Saturday so we must all put our recent performances to the back of our minds and give our players and manager’s a fresh start. Up The Seals! Score: Chester FC (Mahon, Miller) 2-1 Bradford (Park Avenue) AFC Attendance: 1,981 (84 Bradford (Park Avenue) AFC) COYB!

Great to be back home and well done to all involved in getting the stadium back up to working order.
As for the playing side we’re going to be rusty, we’re lacking a striker and Bradford have started really well. 1-3 1,978.

Fortress Chester - still unbeaten at home so far this season, and the clean sheet stays in tact. Nice to see it’s only good wishes coming flooding in now, but I feel we now need to be putting in better performances after what has been a largely disappointing opening. After the excitement of the summer build up it was nice to exceed 2,000, but I fear it will be closer to 1800 this time and only a good result will change that as the season progresses.

I feel we could struggle with this. Aren't BPA a bit of a bogey team. Didn't we miss a last minute penalty at the Horsfall last time we were there?

8 - 1 Chester. Then it’s all on a pub crawl round Chester led by Chris Piercy, Bern and Jonno.

If they're a half decent side we'll struggle. Expecting a defeat but hoping we can nick a point.

I think we'll win this. Big opportunity for the players to bury the Blyth fiasco - it almost feels like a new season so lets hope we take the chance.
2-0, Grand and Dudley.

Presumably Bradford are 3rd for a reason.
We're missing a few players, and are not yet a top 3 side. Limited options from the bench too.
Suspect we'll lose this one. I'll go 1-2 with 1831 crowd.

Apparently there's disruption today around Liverpool Road near to Morrisons. Just worth keeping in mind for those who go that way.

2-1 Dudley, absolutel lethal going forward! Still don’t think we’ll go another 80 without conceding again though.
