That’s 3 from the Woody household signed up.
Good initiative from the club, excellent way to engage fans and raise much needed money for the future of our club with some nice benefits. We have been extremely fortunate with Stuart’s 3 year plan but lets all consider signing up and giving the club a financial uplift it needs to model an exciting and prosperous future and build something special to attract new fans, investment and put the club on a sound footing for many many years.
We are currently experiencing the fruition of investment in our club thanks to Swetenhams which has been pivotal in creating a blossoming youth team of which we are already witnessing the product of the youth system lightening up our first team.
‘OUR CITY...OUR COMMUNITY...OUR CLUB’

Thanks Woody but pretty poor way of launching something so major ? Should be major announcement on Club via formal press announcementc and Chronicle websites as well as CFU Poor comms !

Agreed. Don’t think this is aimed at the average fan in fairness.

Agreed. Don’t think this is aimed at the average fan in fairness. Surely it should be though. We're an all inclusive fan owned club. Therefore it should surely be aimed at attracting as many supporters as possible? Given the benefits listed I would say look at halving that price, or even more maybe to make it more attractive to your die hard supporter. That's just my thoughts on it tbh

If people can afford it & think it’s value for money then fair play to them.

Whilst I applaud the initiative but christ a grand thats 83 years at £12 a year the average Joe cant afford that much, I fear it will create an exclusive club of rich supporters and possibly an us and them situation. I think a re-think on the cost is required

I can see everybodys point of which I do agree, I have been a supporter since 1979 and not seen many successes throughout my lifetime following our club but the few bright seasons I have witnessed have certainly taken away the memories of the seasons of continual struggle on and off the pitch.
My reason which may be considered as a mid-life crisis for taking up these memberships. I don’t expect any differential treatment from the club or exclusiveness. I am certainly no elitist in my household we have 6 season tickets in the Swetenhams family enclosure and not the lounge but our intention as a family is to play our part not just as a supporter with season tickets through the turnstile, but to give a little extra here and there to make the club more affluent.
I am convinced if collectively we do this then we will be able to become: More competitive, More successful, Financial stability, Provide excellent facilities to develop local talent and develop our coaching staff. Increase both support and investment for our club, ensure a brighter future and become a club that the majority rather than the minority of Chester public can be proud to support.
Significant changes start from small steps, and together we can turn the invisible into the visible. Let's be part of this future and enjoy the ride.

Think the £1000 is a bit steep. Like the idea, and I guess it is not about getting value for money as an individual, but about investing in the future of the club, which will benefit all and not just CFU members. Would have liked to see an age tiered scheme. Have to give this one some thought as I support the principle. If the cost had been £250 you might have got 500 people joining, so raising £125000. Not sure it will attract 125 at £1000.

It's a good idea. Surely it's up to people to join or not, without having half a thread knocking every club initiative.

Not knocking it, it is a good idea. I'm just not sure the take up is there based on the price. Will be interesting to know how many club are aiming to sell and what take up is like over the next few weeks.

The tiered / age system maybe a good idea and something to consider by the CFU, but if they drop the price I won’t be moaning as we agreed to pay that price. From our prospective we certainly didn’t join for any gain it was just something as a family that’s in our blood to support our local football team. Tbh I doubt we will use the lounge however may take the kids to the training session for the experience and hopefully some photos and autographs with management team and players. This is certainly something the club can be proud of with our new management the interaction between players and fans, eapecially the younger element. My view on our future is as follows, we as faithful fans turning up, signing up to all the different schemes and that makes a huge contribution to the clubs capital but unfortunately we will never grow on that basis alone. as collective owners we need to invest to get an improved product that attracts more sponsors, investment and increase base support. I believe this is a positive step by CFU to those who want to contribute a small amount in conjunction with Stuart’s belief that investment creates more growth of the club and an improved infrastructure with no personal gain.

I sit on the FEWG and the Lifetime Membership is one of our projects, it was borne out of the CFU survey towards the end of 2017 where the interest was there. The interest was still there once the cost was decided on and relayed to those who had initially made their interest known, which is pleasing. Obviously it is not designed for most members/supporters, given the price, and that is why we have looked at and are continuing to look at other benefits Life Membership brings.

Thanks Sychdyn Blue for the update seems positive feedback from the information you have gained. Just as a thought for the FEWG and supporters who want to give but not as much, why not try something similar to what the Exeter City supporters 1931 club! Each year this group of supporters pay a players wage. who plays in the number 31 shirt. For example If 100 supporters donate 4 pound a week this would amount to 20800 a year on and pay form a player. This maybe an option worth considering.

I think the idea is to get 10 or 20 to take up the offer so that it gives us a cash boost in the short term but doesn’t detract from the yearly subs that they can buget for in the long term.

Such a short term attitude ....don't we ever learn. Remember such projects as Buy a Brick and Debentures ? Collapsed ! Need longer term commitment from more people at less cost not a quick £10k. Would rather 40 people at £250 or 20 people at £500 than 10 at £1000. Can then build on and cross sell benefits to a greater number of real supporters ? Such a naive short term approach with prohibitive cost. Scary ! Is it just me that sees this yet another failure ? Feel sorry for Woody though !

The thing is that it is the older generation who are most likely to be able to afford it yet they are the ones by reason of their age, who will benefit least. Perhaps there should be a concrssionary rate for seniors.

At the right cost we could raise thousands and then sell additional products to a loyal base.

I want to drive a Range Rover, but cant afford one. That doesn't make Range Rovers a bad idea. I'm made up for Woody. He can afford to put the money into his club, will get a nice chance for some photos for his kids with the players, and our club benefits from his donation. I am genuinely shocked that people still volunteer for this club the amount of shit that gets flung at them.

Mark...trying to be constructive here.I agree with 99% of your posts as you have given loads to the Club but please stop being defensive. My suggestions re Club Shop and CFU Life membership are just suggestions to increase revenue. Unfortunately you have a bit of a chip on your shoulder when someone disagrees with you ? I have every admiration for volunteers and would love to see you back on the Board tomorrow. Try reading again what I suggest ?

What you don’t want to do is to take too much money out of the yearly pot now because we will need that in the longer term, the transfer window when it opens will allow most teams to strengthen their squads and that’s what they will do. So we need a boost to our funds so we can add to our injury ravaged squad, it’s all about balance whatever money we raise will I imagine get spent on the playing buget but as I have said you don’t want to take too much out just enough for 2 or 3 players if that’s what the managers want.

Why would you feel sorry for someone who is proud to support his local club and back an initiative like this? That's scary. We already have a raft of other schemes for so called real supporters .... sponsorship, squad builder, Blues lottery etc which in theory enable the club to cross sell. As has been pointed out, this clearly isn't aimed at everyone and it's a shame if you feel excluded, but give it a chance. It's obviously not prohibitive or Woody wouldn't have signed up. It must be soul destroying for the working groups who give up their time to come up with ideas like this to have them pissed all over from the outset. You wonder if some people actually want the club to fail so they can say told you so.
