Enjoyed that today! Well worth the £10 (Plus assorted refreshments for my lad!) . Chester looked a decent side. Far superior to Darlo even with 10 men. They had about 10 or 15 minutes after they scored (against the run of play) where they were on top but once the third went in it was game over. Chesters back 5 looked solid. The right back started off a bit shaky but grew into the game. The two in the middle of the park were industrious and combative. Liked the look of number 4. Number 10 put a decent shift in and was tidy. 11 looked classy and ran tirelessly. Obviously the big man up top will get all the headlines and rightly so. Lethal finishing and a good all round performance. He looked a class above everyone else on the pitch. I’d like to see him leading the line for my shower! Only downside was the lad lad who got sent off. I missed his first yellow (Chocolate related distraction) but his second yellow was absolutely idiotic when already on a booking. If I’m honest, the red card did him a favour as he was having a shocker and didn’t really look interested. Perhaps I’m being harsh but he was poor. Now I know I’m going to get stick for this but watching the game as a neutral, I thought the ref did ok. He got most things spot on in my opinion. Their captain was probably a bit lucky not to get a second yellow, but so was Chester’s number 8 for the tackle he was booked for. He could have seen red. Entertaining game. Great goals. Red card. Plenty of tackles. Bit of atmosphere second half. Lovely stuff. Thanks Chester. I thought the ref was fine too. Feel sorry for Mooney first taking one for the team after an unfortunate deflection sent Darlo away and the second just stretching for a ball that got away from him. He's only 19 and will learn. I don't think he needed to do that. Their player was only just over the half way line and there were at least 3 Chester players covering.

That was a superb performance and it was the sheer work rate and bloody-mindedness that was the most pleasing. We refused to be be pegged back today, when it would have been so easy to do so.
A mention has to go to Thomson and Noble, both of whom looked totally at home and comfortable at this level. They are both huge assets going forward and we need to make sure they are tied down to a contract, because if they keep that up, other clubs will be sniffing.
Asante's performance was just about as good as you'll see. Pacy, powerful and clinical - he was absolutely unplayable. Their players just bounced off him all day long and he just had one of those days where everything came off. Phenomenal performance!

Also, the ref was actually okay. Couldn't really understand why he was getting so much stick - the Mooney sending off was as clear as you'll see.

Watching Rio's highlights I see it was a perfect hat trick as well for Asante. Header then leftie then right.

A quite brilliant performance from the team yesterday. To play for over an hour with 10 men and score 2 goals in that period whilst only conceding the 1 is a pretty amazing feat. They work so hard every single game wether the performance is one that has you salivating or not. Fantastic work ethic!

Question for Chas - when was the last time we had a man sent off, improved the scoreline with 10 men and went on to win? - I can't think of it ever happening.

Great performance with 10 men. But with Stopforth it’s like we had 11 men anyway. Good win. I felt the ref was just inconsistent. Mooney red card was fair enough but having set his standard as that he then should have sent their player off for 2 yellows but gave him a 2nd chance. Too inconsistent

Also, the ref was actually okay. Couldn't really understand why he was getting so much stick - the Mooney sending off was as clear as you'll see. It was the inconsistency, their big fat number 6 went for Mahon & it was only Mahon’s quick feet that stopped him being caught, the intention was there. That arguably should have been a red, at least a yellow & he got nothing.

Asante came to town and gave us gifts to remember. The perfect hat-track. Header, left foot stunner and right foot scorcher. That was class.
Told the Mrs that I love Gary Stopforth more than her. She fully understands and can see the reasons.
In any other circumstance Magic Mahon would have been man of the match but it was the best debut since that of the heroic Matty McGinn.

No matter, we only need 10 men. Mahon, Stopforth, Noble, Dudley and the Big Man Asante were outstanding today. What a signing, what a debut, what a reception in the Blues Bar afterwards! Mahony is on fire this season, back winning the ball on the edge of our own box one minute and then doing his standard jinking runs on the edge of the opposition box the next.

I'll admit that I'm not a big fan of Mahon but his cross for Asante's first was top drawer.

I think yesterday showed how good Dudley can be when he has got someone half decent alongside him.

He tormented Darlo all game. Stopforth the standout but you could argue a few for player of the season so far, Mahon one of them. Been consistently good (for all the worldies Mooney scores he does tend to go missing) and Mahon has been involved in a lot of our goals this season. Mahon is the best we have at taking defenders on and getting the ball in the box. Class act this season.

I'd be concerned if I was a Darlo fan. I think they're even more stretched than we are squad wise.
Considering they were only 1 down when Mooney went, to then go in and lose the game 3-1 is really poor.
I think they're in for a long season.

Livesey is a class act, reads the game well. I would have given him the armband yesterday

Did someone really say that Shenton watched their goal sail in?! Great bit of skill in the lead up to our second. I had it in my mind that he bundled his way through.

Thanks for the kind hospitality at the weekends guys, despite the result it was an enjoyable visit.
Disappointed with our numbers, only 229. Shows that the fans aren't happy. I was expecting about 400 truth be told.
Thanks for helping me plug the collection for Matty. It was appreciated.
Can't wait to get relegated. All the best for the season.

All the best from Chester have a great Christmas and a more productive new year.

Hope things turn around for you. We are very similar, both fan owned clubs and neither of us have a pot to piss in so I have a lot of empathy for you. I didnt realise one of our ex players Dom Collins was with you, although I notice that his contract has been terminated as a result of injury. A briliant effort from your guys collecting for Matty Hughes - respect to you all.
