His decision to stay at Alty is not as inconceivable as you may think. I've never seen him enjoying his football more than he is at present. The goals have returned too. He has two brand new, sparkling wingers either side of him and the best player in the league sat right behind him. It's a no brainer really. It's funny hearing the Alty fans saying we're throwing money around When Alty now have Mahon, Hulme and Mooney. There's no way they can afford those players getting crowds like 800 last night.

If you saw their stadium plans in that thing the other week I think it’s fairly apparent they are in rude financial health. Plus they’ve had a cup run, plus they’ve just sold a player for a record fee between two conference north clubs.

It’s not a mistake to let Craig Mahon go - he’s hardly started for 2 seasons and his wage bill will be much better applied elsewhere. He was the consummate professional but sometimes the world moves on. I’ve just spent the afternoon with an Alty fan who was delighted with his performance in the last game. Glad Craig’s somewhere he’ll not only get a game but some appreciation too.

Don’t think durrell is the answer to our problems either. We need a big solid centre forward so if the Ellison rumours are true - bring it on.

Mahon was a fantastic servant on and off the pitch the kids and most fans adored him
Give me a player like Mahon who busted a gut when we went down over players like Kingsley James Rowe-Turner and the worst of the lot Lucas lazy Dawson who stole a wage from the club

When you put those two facts together - started more games and played more times than anyone other than the keeper, and involved in more goals than any other player - it does seem strange that we have willingly traded him in. I’d tend to agree with 54321, it was a mistake to let him go.

Not bad for someone who has “hardly started.” I think Craig had stayed too long at Chester and had gone a bit stale and was no where near the player he used to be, now he has a new challenge it’s inspired him to find his mojo. Happens all the time in football we just need to stop dredging things up about the transfer and move on, I’m sure we wish him all the best but not against us of course.

Mahon needed to move on, there wasn’t much said on here as to why he wasn’t starting games until he’s now left.

In my opinion to let Craig Mahon go is a mistake . Said from the get go he shouldn’t gone to alty we should’ve swapped elton Mahon is way good enough for our team imo. Already proving his quality at alty class act. Happy for the guy he’s getting first team football as he deserves it

Salford still off loading plenty of cash, they’ve now taken Darren Gibson on loan for the remainder of the season!

Mahon needed to move on, get over it. The managers saw that early in the season. Good luck to him but time to move on.

Just the name sends shivers down my spine. Appalling.
