I’m bordering on flabbergasted with what I’m reading on here. We missed out on the play offs by 3 points I think? If Stopforth and Hughes would have played 40 odd games we would easily have been in the end of season shake up. We have now pretty much got all of what was worth keeping signed up. With half a dozen additions coming in we will be a decent outfit at conference north level. Surely the goal is to have a side that is capable of winning or at least getting in the play offs. It’s obvious the sort of players we need to supplement what we have on board. I’m sure Bern and Jonno will sort this out. All going well so far as far as I am concerned I cant disagree with your reasoning but just one sobering fact - It was only a few weeks ago that we were humiliated by Stockport losing 6-0 yet no less than 8 of the team that started that night look like being here next season, including the central defence partnership of Livesey and Grand.

No good pulling off worldies if you cant do the basics on a regular basis.

As I and others have said before, we need continuity. Mass clearouts and overhauling the squad will get us nowhere.

That was the point of my earlier post? Happy we have re- signed the better players but thought there was to be a clear out except for 6 or 7 with no time for sentiment ? Weird. Mahon Stopforth Waters Waring Grand Livesey Jackson There's your seven Asante and Burton already under contract Rest are kids and I won't include them in the list for that reason. Plus potentially Hughes Roberts and the goalkeeper. If so a total of 12 from last years squad excluding the youngsters. Just saying how much will be left in the kitty to improve the quality, fitness and pace of the side that we all agree is needed. Perhaps the 6 or 7 was just a knee jerk reaction by Bern and/or Jonno. Surely not!!

This is a great bit of news. Danny was very solid for us last season and he even had a knack of finding the net in our last couple of matches. We just need to bring in a couple of younger, more quicker defenders then we should be done and dusted in that department. Welcome back to Chester FC Danny 🔵⚪️🔵⚪️!

Winger Craig Mahon has signed a new one-year contract for Chester FC tonight. This is excellent news as I thought that Mahony was much more consistent for us last season. He was a lot more energetic and caused opposing teams plenty of problems. I’m looking forward to seeing what he can produce in his sixth season. All the best Craig!

Haven’t yet seen anything to suggest promotion. Two defenders who share 70 years between them, and a tricky winger who never delivers a decent final pass, and we still haven’t got rid of Shenton and family. Unless we’ve got a bottomless pit of a budget all I’ve seen so far is a waste of scarce resources.

Early days, and obviously a time for retaining chosen players. I’m waiting for more expansive signings in the following weeks, beyond what is a “ better the devil you know” approach. Let’s see if the duo will, or even can, extend their signings this time round.

disappointed to see Mahon handed another contract. Doesn't matter that he looks ''exciting'' turning and beating the same defender 4/5 times, when it comes down to it there is very little end product in terms of goals or assists. Also disappointed that 2 out of the 3 worst centre halves i've seen play for Chester have been given contracts too. Neither of them can pass a ball and just rely on a big hoof forward. Hardly conducive to flowing football and creating chances. Time and again last season they where caught out by pace, hence the drubbings we got. Hope they do better next year and the managers know what they are doing spending limited budgets on so many of last years players. O.nwards and upwards

I thought part of the strategy was to sign and develop younger players in order to sell on for a profit. Given the club’s limited ability to generate income, and with a falling fanbase, I don’t see ageing players who are past their best as a logical way forward. It’s ok building a team around an experienced backbone, but not when those players have been a significant part of poor team performances in the past.

It’s Conference North, we ain’t getting Beckenbauer’s and Maldini’s at the back. It’s about big strong lads who win headers and stick it into row Z when they have to.

Well, we haven’t got any of them yet. It's May 19th. Nearly three months until the new season starts. I'd frankly be worried if we had already signed several players, because the type of players available now are mostly useless duffers who clubs released the moment their contracts ran out. Why anyone stresses about who we have/haven't signed before even the late May bank holiday is beyond me. You'll give yourself ulcers with the way you carry on, some of you!
