bar York , that's a given; ... Matlock , cracking little town. Pubs in that little valley, and scenic view from away end of castle on the hill. Plus if you go via derby there's half a dozen top pubs outside train station. lancaster deserves a shout too.

Mosley Hill(I think it was called) was a good day out. Miss those tin pot grounds, seven or eight quid to get in and a nice pint whilst watching the game.

Worcester, loads of pubs in the high Street, and they were all bouncing, welling high Street decent as well, halifax town centre as well, most pubs under £2 a pint 🍺🍻

Stalybridge, especially when the little maestro scored his hat-trick.

You're looking for ease of getting there with local pubs to make a proper day of it
For these in mind Alty is worth a shout, further back, Matlock, Whitby, Lancaster and i'd give Marine a shout

When I spoke to Neil Young the other day, he mentioned Matlock as one of his favourites during his time with us.

Buxton was good and agree with Matlock. Can't believe anyone has suggested Solihull - worst ground this season by a mile and soulless place

Matlock was special, weather and a Wilde inspired win helped as well. Also a special mention for Stockbridge where my in laws live. Never thought I'd make that short walk up to the ground to see the blues.
in the past I can boast away days at Moulineux, Hillsborough, Riverside and Elland Road. Elland Road wins as Leeds was the first team I supported and the blues won 😀

Kidderminster decent away day Other than obvious ones such as York and Tranmere, there are some decent pubs in Kiddy and walking distance to the ground. Same with Welling that was a good one, and I like Dover too for a day out.

Matlock was excellent, really nice place and the day we went it was a really warm spring afternoon, made strange by the trip up to North Ferriby on the Tuesday night after for the coldest game of the season!
Mossley was another good one, still haven’t got my legs back from the incredibly steep climb from the railway station to the ground. Would love to go back there for a Friendly in the summer.
In this league, I always find Braintree not bad, although I know nobody will agree with me! It’s a long way, not easy to get to and the ground is rubbish but the town is a nice little place with quite a few pubs knocking about.

Always used to enjoy going down to Exeter in the 70s long way but a good day out and we had a pretty good record down there more recently though its been Oxford City Dover and Maidstone of the 3 I would say definatley Oxford very friendly(and if I remember correctly a certain plasterer scored the only goal)

The away trip I used to enjoy most was Scarborough, made a proper weekend of it the last time we played there. Been sad to see the demise of both their club and stadium in recent years.

Matlock was a great day, albeit i wonder how much of that the glorious weather contributed. Other than that i'd say Stockport given it's local and plenty of beers en route and on the way back

Lovely day - it was someone's birthday and a few of us were in our Chester shirts in the car park after the game, having a kick about while drinking champagne. Matt Glennon walked past and gave us a very odd look...must have thought were were a right bunch of nobs who'd got lost en-route to Twickers.
