On the old lady there was a way of connecting the RSS (Really Simple Syndication) robot to the forum, so when a website like BBC Sport posted something with Chester FC or whatever it would automatically post it on Devachat. Any ideas how to replicate that here?
Can anyone think of any other good bits about the old forum which should be replicated here?

Off-Topic has been retained, what about a Dark Off-Topic forum? Think it was mentioned on the old site a while back?

I'd like to see Alan Povey sign up and also A View From Outside, they are 2 excellent posters of relevant material
Also, is there a way that we can setup a robot to link the Chester FC twitter account, so when they post it appears on here?

I personally use News Now for all Chester updates, would be good if we could link that. Or we could simply post the stories under new threads if it's not possible.

Maybe we could RSS link Agent Mick? Give us all a laugh at least!

Later on I will take a closer look behind the scenes and see what features we could use. Also interested to see if anyone wants to be mods? It should be left just to run itself unless things get abusive/personal

It should be left just to run itself unless things get abusive/personal Let's see how it goes without mods initially? Each post has a report option in the settings (top right) which i suppose will be reported to yourself as you're the only admin, but i'm not sure if posts will need to be reported. For me there's no reason to get upset as there's no mods

I am all for letting it run itself and hopefully encourage people to feel like they can contribute.

I think the forum can be self moderating. If someone wants to start being ridiculous and/or trolling then either they'll be shouted down or we just ignore.

I don't think you will be able to use RSS on freeforums - you would need to set up an Invision Forum and use the available apps to have that functionality. You'll be very limited to do any customisation on here - not necessarily a negative thing as the main thing is that people are able to post and air opinions without worrying about upsetting others and getting a ban.

It would be nice for the mods to be somewhat thicker skinned than the mods on the old site!

Everyone is being nice to each other at the moment, the only forseeable problem is if 'guest' posting starts to be used for personal attacks but i suppose all you can do is let it run and see how it goes.

Here's the code to put a live twitter feed on here to chesterfc<a class="twitter-timeline" href="https://twitter.com/ChesterFC">Tweets by ChesterFC</a> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Is there any way you can change the text under your username that currently says 'New Member' for everyone?

imagine that will change as devachat used to via number of posts. Mancot became a Lord back in the day i think.

True but on the other one you can change it to whatever you want, like a witty statement or something.

Dunno, kind of lost a bit of magic when the old system went. An odd quirk.

Is there any way you can change the text under your username that currently says 'New Member' for everyone? The 'New Member' statement will change the more you post, here are the default number of posts required. I'm sure it won't be too long before we have a few 'Gods'.

Custom made Emoji's. There were a few half decent ones on Deva Chat, does this board have the potential to add them?

There are quite a few plugins that might be of use, there is one to add a members post/thread count. : Thread/Post Count
In admin mode there is an easy to use plugin library, they can be added at the click of a button. There is a forum for plugins too so you can get a general idea of what's do-able: Plugins Forum
