After an unexpected 10 day break we return to the 1885 Arena tomorrow night as we entertain King’s Lynn Town at home in the second of four consecutive home games. With Saturday’s match at Alfreton Town being postponed, our lads will feel much fresher ahead of a really important week. Of course we will be in for a very hard game tomorrow, but for some reason I am confident that we will win because King’s Lynn will have a gruelling four hour trip beforehand, and at home we can beat anyone.
Our last match was two Saturday’s ago as we beat Blyth Spartans 2-1 at home in a game that was hampered by the unfavourable conditions. We performed really well in the first period as we were by far the better side, and we got off to a great start as Akwasi Asante fired into the roof of the net to make it 1-0 to us early on. Meanwhile, we weren’t as consistent in the second half, but thanks to our opponents being poor we got away with it. Just five minutes in Shane Blaney got sent off for Blyth Spartans due to a very late tackle on George Glendon. We used that to our advantage, because James Jones headed home from a corner to make it 2-0 to us which sealed the game. Olly Scott did pull a goal back for Blyth Spartans to make it 2-1, as he poked the ball over the line following an excellent save by Russ Griffiths. However, that slight scare didn’t affect us as we managed to hold on to our slender lead.
King’s Lynn Town will be making the journey from Norfolk having had an exceptional season so far. The Linnets have been by far the biggest surprise package as a lot of people (including myself) tipped them to struggle, but they have defied the odds by sitting inside the top two for almost all of the campaign. The reverse fixture back in October was an absolute cracker, so hopefully tomorrow will be similar as that was a brilliant advert for our league.
Unfortunately I won’t be attending this one as I am off on a Media trip to London today for a few days. Therefore, I will be missing my first match of the season and first home game since Maidstone United back in 2016. The main thing is though that we need to make our two games in hand count, as one or two sides near us have played a couple more than us. We more than matched Lynn in the away game in October so if we perform like that again, then we could even snatch all three points tomorrow. Come On You Blues!
Score: Chester FC (Taylor, Dudley) 2-1 King’s Lynn Town (Marriott)
Attendance: 1,701 (62 King’s Lynn Town)
My predicted lineup: Griffiths K.Roberts Livesey Grand Taylor Jackson Stopforth Glendon Johnston Dudley Asante
COYB!

Fair play to Kings Lynn if they get something from this game, long trip and a huge run of games coming up including Alty on Saturday. I still think York will win the League.

Rio, sorry to hear you're unable to be at tomorrow's game - you may miss a corker! Do you have a deputy to do a match report?
Chester 3 King's Lynn 2 (Taylor 1, Asante 2), 1899.

Gutted I can’t be there tonight. They are beatable and we can do it but we need the team to turn up tonight unlike what they did at York. And let’s hope Marriott has an off day. Hope the gaffers used the extra prep time after the postponement to good effect. I’ll go for an optimistic 2-1 to us 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Couldn't be a better time to be playing them really. They haven't played for 17 days, since a poor home defeat to Kidderminster. They could be refreshed or rusty, but it's not a journey for them to relish on a foul Tuesday night.
I don't think we can be too happy with a draw tonight. League title is beyond us now realistically, but if we're serious about a top three finish we need league-winning form for the rest of the season.

2-1 King's Lynn 1879 (43 KL). Hope I am wrong but we rarely turn up for big games and instead look nervous and lethargic.

2 2 crowd of 1,540 .. probably 400 down because liverpool are live on tv . Who ever is in charge of scheduling this fixture should make sure that liverpool are not on the same night, it should of been arranged for tomorrow night instead this has happened a few times lately, need sorting.

I agree...I live 30 miles away and would have been at the match...but then I discovered my second team is on on tv tonight. Difficult to change as fixtures are fixed at the beginning of the season. I wonder whether a regular Wednesday night may be better? Any views?

We are playing the side that are top of the league in a night game. Why wouldn't you be there?

I know it's Tuesday night but an attendance of 1,736 against top of the league is pretty poor [br Personally I think it's a decent crowd. Top of the league or not, Kings lynn aren't exactly a big draw for the floating fan to go and watch on a Tuesday night in awful weather.
