Matty waters left chester shame but was never a regular all the best though Right decision. If there’s cuts we won’t be in a position to carry squad players. Shame though as he definitely got better over the last twelve months.

Gutted about waters won’t get a better crosser at this level then him
He’ll go onto do really well for himself

Can't say I'm surprised or blame him. He wasn't going to start many games whilst Joel & JJ were in the squad. He was a great ambassador for the club and especially the Academy - all the best Matty.

Disappointed about this but not surprised. As has been stated already Matty would have been second choice at left back, i wish him well and have no doubts he will be a first team regular at our level or the level above.

This is Bad news Waters going. A quality player who should have played more last year and would have kicked on. Him and Taylor would make a perfect partnership on the left. Instead we are left with road runner we spent cash on.
Another youngster gone. What use is all the hard working Callum has done if we are going to let them all go.

Gutted but he wants more game time so can't blame him for moving on

...how long before he comes back to haunt us with a goal from a free kick just outside the box...?!

Waters should've stayed though

He's a better player defensively than Taylor. Personal opinion obviously. Nowhere near. We constantly romanticise about lads who have come out of the academy when the reality is Waters is behind Taylor by a long way. The majority on here seem to be in agreement that signing players at this moment in time could be a bit of a silly move yet others want us to sign up squad players.

And you're entitled to your opinion as well, doesn't mean we have to agree on the matter. I like to think I'm pretty balanced on my opinions on here, certainly when it comes to our youngsters/academy players. Matty may well have decided to leave anyway to further his career and guarantee first team football elsewhere and who could blame him for that.

It is worrying that at the moment no-one has signed a new contract for next season Probably because, for the first time, we did our most important business in Jan.

Of course he's not as good as Taylor, but Id rather play Taylor and Waters down the left than Taylor and Johnston. Waters is far better at set pieces and the best crosser of a ball we had at the club. Can't help but feel we've been mugged off in the JJ for Mahon plus cash deal, and now we've seen a lad leave because he sees the writing on the wall in lack of first team opportunities.

Matty could have a club lined up with a possible move to Curzon

He’s a left back. You wouldn’t play Roberts on the other side at right midfield in front of Jackson! He’s a pretty good back up option and shows glimpses of real quality but he also struggles taking command defensively, I’m thinking Brackley at home. Johnstone was in the team of the year the season before so was clearly signed as being a major player. Mahon on the other hand was an aging player that needed moving on.

Very disappointed seeing matty go. As others have said. him and Taylor were the best combination for me. I remember asking Ross hannah at a senior blues q and a. who was the most skillful youth team player. He said with out a doubt matty waters.

Shame that, he’s come on from years ago and typical that we end up with two so good in the same position at the same time. Best of luck to Matty.
Just my opinion but whenever I’ve seen either Waters or Taylor in a more advanced position they’ve not looked comfortable at all with it, not knowing when to go. So I’m not sure about the suggestions of playing them both together.

I get the impression from most people though is it’s because of the signing of Johnstone who in all fairness hasn’t set the world alight here yet.

As in Craig Mahon our record appearance holder? As in Craig Mahon the lad we let go to Altrincham, the Altrincham that beat us in the Playoffs? The Altrincham that won the playoffs and will be in the Conference Prem next season? That Craig Mahon yeah?

A Craig Mahon that is well past his best days who plays 25 minutes a game for Altrincham.
