There was thread on our budget amount a good while ago on deva chat I can't remember who quoted the figures but i seem to remember it was an official source not speculation I noted the figures as i was interested to see in future years if it increased/decreased The figures quoted were Year 2014/2015 £325.000 Year 2015/2016 £330.000 plus £20.000 crowdfunder Total spent £372.000 I wonder how much of the money from our cup run in Steve burrs early time at the club is included ? Not seen any figures anywhere for current season but would hope it's not any less than figures above

Instead of criticising the fans who are justifiably upset, you should be having a go at the inadequate members of the board who appointed the people who got us into this mess. They've given out contracts that are too long to people who cannot cope with the jobs they've been given and then complain about the supporters who dare to tell the truth! If the members on the board are inadequate then why not put your name down to help change the way it's run? I have respect for all people who volunteer and run for board, I could not do it as do not have the skill or time to do so. I do recall a prominent poster from old deva chat ran for election only to be disgustingly shouted down on social media by a paid employee and an ex board member. Actions like this may have put off some serious people to stand for election.

A statement is completely unnecessary unless Macca has resigned/been sacked (unlikely given the budget constraints we are working under).
I honestly think sacking him isn't an option. We would have to find money to pay the bloke off for starters, then we would have to find money to pay another manager, then there are the contracts on the table for the majority of the existing squad. How many of those have agreed terms already? A new manager may want to bring in an entirely new squad, again that would mean getting players out of their deals and forcing them to find other clubs before we can recruit. Time consuming, and financially unviable for us.
Whatever way you look at it, that 2 1/2 year extension to his contract has crippled us. We are basically stuck with a man who has clearly (going off the post Woking game interview) lost his bottle, and who doesn't want to admit that the players are letting him down. Ok he admitted it's his fault - which is a good start - but we STILL REFUSE to go back to basics and start 4-4-2. Jon it's not just your players that are letting you down but your backroom staff are letting you down too (Iwelumo).
If you want to keep your job then get an experienced number 2 who can commit. Shaun Reid would be a good start Jon.

I agree that the no 2 has to be replaced, I would go for a player coach given our budget restraints, I wonder what budget the Woking manager has ?

Personally, I won't criticise the 2.5 year contract to McCarthy itself. It seems a long time ago now, but he was well liked at the time, getting good results and coming across well in the media. Plus a club like ours should be looking at a long-term manager rather than Southport and Eastleigh's hire and fire approach. I would just hope that there are provisions in place to pay him off if necessary, as we've seen how quickly things can go very wrong. And on the subject of Iwelumo, if he has to be in London while we're playing, could he not be watching Boreham Wood or Sutton in preparation for our games against them? I'm just trying to think of anything he can do for us on a matchday that's of more use to us than sitting in the Channel 5 studios or whatever.

I assume he is expected to be in the Channel 5 studios monitoring games on a Saturday afternoon ahead of giving analysis that evening. It's hard to see any benefit to Chester FC from his TV work, given that any players who catch his eye are unlikely to be tempted here.

Did we not have a game in London that he was able to attend though - possibly Bromley?

Board? Earlier in the season McCarthy was in the press praising two people behind his 'success' . If you speak to any volunteers you will know that there are only two people who are really making the big decisions on football issues.

[its called a vote of confidence clearly there all in together were a fans owned club ffs we should be told what the managers position is after 10defeats in 11 at home is bordering on incompetent.

Anyone know what contract Iwelumo has, A brilliant one. "Need not turn up on match days" The only statement from the club should be a vote of confidence in McCarthy. That way we know his days are numbered.

As said above, I have nothing but respect for anybody who volunteers their time for this club but I reckon there's a few sleepless nights for the CEO and board members at the moment. Regardless that we all thought JM getting a contract was extension was positive, although a few eyebrows raised at two years, it has proven to be a disastrous decision. It really is hard to see a way back for the manager at the moment. He's lost the crowd and everything he seems to do at the moment is poor, even his management of substitutes is currently dire. You really do feel the board have to bite the bullet and weild the axe.

That way we know his days are numbered. Have you ever known Chester to issue a 'vote of confidence' in a manager? It doesn't really happen at our level where media speculation is not the same as at the top. In fact, I'm not really sure it happens at all anymore as it's become a bit of a joke and suggests the opposite of what it's trying to achieve.

Didn't Ranieri get full backing from the owners and then about 2 weeks later got the sack?

Heard a rumour today that McGuire and Maxiflow have had a bust up and that as a consequence Maxiflow are considering pulling out of sponsorship. Anyone else heard this?

Worrying if true - a few of us have voiced concerns about sponsorship in the short to long term and we can't afford to alienate those that we've got
I've just got a feeling that things might just be coming to a head

Just have to post to get rid of the utter pointless shite posted by the guest above.
The board face quite a few challenges over the coming weeks and months, but they wouldn't have stood for election if they didn't want to work hard in the best interests of our club.
If it is too much for them with their circumstances, then they must step aside and allow someone else to commit to it. Like Alan did.
Good luck to them.

A bit off topic but relates to your first point. I know Big Si and co are going to look into Guest posting after the forums 'teething stage'. I'd say the forum now is running quite nicely, with some vast varied opinions of actual Chester fans at a vary of ages, from people as young as Rio to some of the Veterans of old DC. Guest posting is literally the biggest gripe i have with the forum, it allows people such as the above to send good threads off on a tangent and end with a mountain of drivel. I appreciate we have a report feature, but i don't expect the mods to have to sit there waiting for the odd moron to pop up. I wonder the mod/Big Si's thoughts on where they are at with it currently? Over to you EWO/Big Si.

Coincidentally I went onto Sutton's forum today and they use the same site that we do (pro boards) and don't allow guest posting. But of course you can just sign up within a minute and start posting.

Over to you EWO/Big Si. Initially I was really keen on making this forum as inclusive as possible and that meant welcoming guests on board. We have some guests that make excellent contributions and I like that away fans can come and post their outlook on the game without having to sign up. However, over the last month or so we are having to remove more and more guest postings as it's clear that it's far too easy for someone to quickly log on and post something personal or imflammatory, or just downright nonsense. It would be a shame for those guests that do make a valued contributions, but my feelings are that the majority vote will go in favour of members only. My intentions were honest, but I must admit I'm now in favour of making it member only, however this forum should be run by its members and not just me so once the dust dies on the football season we'll give it the proper discussion it needs and move forwards appropriately.

The Board need to act asap to sort the Management position out, at any other Club JM would have been sacked by now, on these results; it is only because of someone's incompetence in giving him a two and half year contract, with obviously not a performance clause built in to it. If it was the CEO who gave JM the contract then his position has become untenable, if it was the Director's then they should step down, you cannot have a situation where by a Manager stays in a job because of someone's lack of football experience. Heads need to roll asap, please do not treat us fans as idiots, since 2010 a lot of people have given the Club a lot of time to get to where we are now; and the current situation cannot carry on. Looks like Burr has found his level ie in the Evostik next season, I suggest the people who brought him and McCarthy into the Club need to hang their heads in shame, they know who they are. Also the diabolical situation with the Assistant Manager is another almighty error by the Club. It is plain to see that the current Board have very little football knowledge and expertise and something needs to change soon to avoid any more major cock ups. Also the Club does not need a full time CEO and General Manager, their are Clubs in the Football League who can get by without both of these roles, we are in the National league and are no where near getting into Football league with the current fiasco.(wasted expenditure on off field staff) Note of caution; everyone is going on about the fee for Sam Hughes (including the deluded CEO),the majority of transfers are paid over a period of time through the season, and not all cash up front, be aware that if it is a split payment scenario that will not increase the playing budget greatly for next season, taking into account the projected losses for this season, and possible short fall in season ticket sales, we are in a worrying situation.
