Not a big Premier League fan and certainly not a big Manchester United fan, but this lad impresses me every time he appears on telly. Speaking on the bbc website about his early life and his mum’s struggles bringing up five kids. Always comes across as totally genuine and like he actually cares about the causes he helps raise money for.

Top man, he has my respect and admiration, but in these times of National emergency, it really shouldn’t be the responsibility of a Premier League footballer to feed poor, hungry children.

Rashford (along with a few others like Jordan Henderson and Wayne Rooney to be fair) prooves not all footballers are overpaid prima donnas and some do understand and relate to things happening in the world outside their privileged bubbles.
As IHB says above, it shouldn't be his responsibility but nevertheless he deserves a lot of credit.

Absolutely brilliant that our club via the Community Trust is asking our MP to support this. Very proud to be a Blue today

What if parents can't afford to feed their kids? True. By the time they’ve paid for the latest iPhone, the full Sky package, 65” Oled TV, eyebrows, diamond studded nails, fake tan top ups, and hair extensions, there’s very little left for food. I’m assuming you’re being satirical.

I suppose when you frame it like that in your imagination it probably does make you feel better about being so abhorrent. Even if all the above were true and the parents did spend their money on that stuff, which of course they don't, does that mean the children should starve? Imagine using children as a weapon to attack their parents. What a sad little life.

Clearly there are a few Katie Hopkins fanboys on here and it’s nice that threads like these can flush them out. I just hope that these far-right enthusiasts stuck to their principles and looked the other way when Katie passed the begging bowl around.

I don’t know, the “patriots” of Nuneaton who were pictured stood defending the George Eliot statue in the town from invisible angry mobs of Jane Austen fans must have principles.

Completely agree. Parents should feed their kids. What if parents can't afford to feed their kids? If they could never afford to feed them then they shouldn’t have them in the first place, if it’s as a result of losing their job for example then isn’t that exactly what child benefit & universal credit are for?

Keep an eye on the press over the next month or so. You can be sure Rashford will be being picked out for a hounding for embarrassing this government.

What a truly disgusting piece of work you are. You know nothing, Daily Mail fed, broad brush I'm Alright Jack toad with your "excellence in Grammar" certificate nailed to your fridge. I used to think you were a wind up. Now I know you are some kind of heartless, finger pointing gammon who has never had to struggle a day in his pitiful, loveless, joyless existence. I hope one day the boot may be on the other foot, and you have to ask for assistance. That you, like these children, are in a position where you need help.

I don't even think Katie Hopkins believes the bile she tweets. She's just made a career out of crafting this nasty persona. That makes her a prostitute of her own dignity though. She's also not as smart a businessperson as she thinks she is if she doesn't understand the consequences of libel.
Sadly, she's also a dangerous force because as this thread shows, there are plenty of small-minded, unpleasant people out there who will happily parrot her views.

Think he thinks the poor aren’t entitled to the right of communicating with friends and family or enjoying themselves with Saturday night entertainment shows. “Live in 19th Century prison conditions if you want to feed your kids.”

Some of the comments on here are entirely unnecessary. You can disagree about how taxes are spent without attacking those who disagree with you. To be clear, I have no doubt that Rashford & indeed the majority of the commenters who disagree with me, have nothing but the best interests of the nation’s children at heart. For others it’s just political.
Anyway this is the football part of the forum so I’ll leave it there.
