James Alabi Chronicle
Nice interview with James on the Chronicle website. Glad to see him stay, the difference from when he first signed is massive, long may he continue to improve. Such a likeable lad too. I know he has his critics, I know I've been frustrated with him too at times, but I honestly believe it's because most fans want to see him succeed. He's a credit to the club.

Yep, comes across a cracking lad. Seems to get what the club is about, and I believe that he gets involved a fair bit on the community side as well, particularly with the Junior Blues.
I'd love to see him sign a contract extension.

Yes, good interview. He has always seemed to go out of his way to work with the club with fans and the community off the pitch too and seems a genuinely nice lad with a very mature head on such young shoulders. You really hope that he can help Richards in terms of in-game temperament going forward. I know Alabi is a very committed Christian (although its not the in your face kind) which I'm guessing has helped in that regard, even if I say that as a godless old sod myself!

Yes, Alabi is the sort of player we need as a community club...and glad to hear he is a committed Christian which gives him his social conscience.

Doesn't seem to have given her much of a social conscience! As for James Alabi, what an excellent signing he has been over the past year. Thankfully we've heard less and less of the cringeworthy ironic cheers/jeers every time he goes for a header. If he does go come the summer then whatever happens he'll have given us some fantastic memories over the 18 months....who can ever forget THAT first half v Aldershot? Also he's safe and secure in the "scored against Wrexham" gang. Fingers crossed a winner v Tranmere can be added to his CV in 4 weeks time!

It's very important now that we keep are best players and although we have 3 months left of the season , I hope we are also planning for next because good players are going to be harder to come by with the competition in the North West getting stronger

I like the lad too. He's grown into the season and is clearly learning as he goes in what is his first proper season of football. He still has a lot of development but he's coming on leaps and bounds and I hope he chooses to stick around with us a bit longer.

don't know what this hype is about alabi i personally think he's lazy and overrated if he was that good he'd of forced a move to barnet and we could of got someone in better plus a bit of money

He's done well has James. Hopefully we can have a few more chipping in with goals in the upcoming games.

I wouldn't think the fee would be much as hes not a homegrown player such as Sam Hughes.
Although we do seem to be developing a very good reputation for Young players to come here and get noticed which long term i think is our best way back to the league.

Sorry to break the bad news to you all but we cannot class him as a youngster we have raised so we have very little chance of being able to go to a tribunal. So no money if he goes, sadly.

We would get money as he's under 24 but it'd be very little, and probably a lot less than we'd sell him for. A lot less than what we received for Kingsley James. Hoping he signs on for next season and keeps banging them in

That's not how it works. It will go to a tribunal and we will get a fee, we will get less than Hughes because he's not an an academy product but that is only one of the factors taken in to consideration.

Alabi will have played more game for us, been at the club longer and likely to move to much a higher level than James did. Didnt we only get 8 grand for James?

He's our best hope of a 20 goals a striker.

Just because you don't agree with his opinion doesn't mean you have the right to tell people who can and can't post.
That's his opinion, you don't agree with it, and I don't agree with it. But respect their right to have an opinion all the same.

I think so, we didn't get enough that's for sure. Think I'm just not getting hopes up with any tribunals, you could argue that we've developed Alabi more than any club could have so should be due a decent level of compensation. Id like to see the club show more faith in players and in the club itself and offer 2 year contracts, to younger players in particular.

Making a new forum that's for 'everyone' then calling someone a happy clapper from DC and telling them to go back, let's think before we type. The attitude of the response to the original poster, i agree it's wrong, but so are petty arguments fella's. Don't paint yourself with the same tar brush.
