This bloody league!
They suspend the league for two weeks to resolve the issue, and resolve nothing within that time.
They restart the league with the issue still dragging on.
When the vote finally comes in, they contemplate ignoring it and just listening to a few financially backed Billy big bollocks clubs.
For once can they just show some sort of leadership? Draw a line under it now. It's as if they're not satisfied with how badly they've ballsed it all up and want to make it worse!

Even if they combined the North and South clubs that want to continue the season, what would they do with the points already gained, would they take out the games already played against teams that have chosen to end their season and then continue with the rest of the fixtures or would they start afresh? And if they did the latter how would they possibly get the season finished before the start of the next one? It's a complete mess and the sooner the whole board admits that they're not up to the job and f++ks off the better.

If they do start and have an uneven number of teams, will teams resort to the courts if they lose by out on promotion by the odd point and have played fewer home games? Is that a disadvantage any more or could they still argue it? Total farce.

Some clubs still want to carry on the season after the vote. That wasn't one of the options offered. The NL board put forward the options though maybe too narrow a choice to cover all preferences. I think it was mainly manufactured to make sure the National Division continued to guarantee future promotion to the EFL.
Therefore, let the teams from the North and South who want to carry on playing do so on the proviso that as all clubs are not taking part in the competition that they forego promotion and relegation this season. Promotion between levels 5 and 6 won't be lost as its overall run by the same league (though not very well!) Start next season with all participating.
Seems fair to me.

Those who are bankrolled can play on and have a chance of buying themselves a promotion from some sort of concocted league bearing no resemblance to that which they started the season in. What happens if two teams from one league gain promotion, particularly the South. The National League already has a big southern bias.

If they want to play on, let them play on. Hopefully a couple of them from the North get promoted so we don't have to deal with them next season. It could end up being a weak NLN next season which would only benefit us.

The fact that these talks are actually happening shines a spotlight on the horrific leadership (or lack of it) at NL board level. What the hell was the point of the vote if they’re now going to go against it?

Only the National League could consider making a null and void null and void.

I look at this in a totally different way than most of you I’m ok with whatever happens because we have made the right decision for us not to play again and I’m in total agreement with that, but if some of the big spenders want to gamble and spend money trying to get promoted it’s money they won’t have to spend next season why wouldn’t you fancy a league without Fylde or York next season. You will also get fa cup rich Chorley having ago and if they fail they will have a much smaller buget next year, at the end of the day we are going to have to finish above 20 ish teams next season to get promotion so if the leagues a little weaker because some teams went for it this year then it’s win win for me.

I know what your saying and if its a combined league it will incur additional travelling costs on top of the usual expenses but it just goes against the whole principal of democracy.

Constructing a whole new league mid-season and allowing it to have any influence on promotion/relegation is utterly bananas. Was trying to remember the last time financial power was used by English clubs to try and dictate their future by changing the league structures. You actually don’t have to look far - it was the creation of the FA Premier league which was used to kill the democratic power of 70+ lower level football league clubs to influence the distribution of funds. In the prem’s favour at least they didn’t try that stunt in the middle of a season.

Fortunately my dog isn’t scabby and can wag its own tail. Usually very placid and friendly to other dogs and humans, however has been know on occasion to take exception to an old dog named Brian who likes to stick his nose where it’s not appreciated! Trouble with Brian is he thinks he controls the park, but has only got instinct for s**t, and still his master rewards him for it.

The one thing missing from the article is that this scheme will result in the NLN and NLS running with 20 and 21 teams next season. That could cost clubs like Chester, Dulwich Hamlet and Maidstone, who lost out on six figure sums in the October allocation, 20k to 40k in matchday income. There is absolutely no way that the FA or National League should support a planned 25-21-20 split in the three divisions of the National League structure. Not only have the National League proved beyond any reasonable doubt that they are a corrupt, undemocratic and incompetent organisation they have also proved they are not interested in clubs that want to run themselves in a financially prudent and sustainable manner.

“The plan handed to the National League is likely, however, to involve a single cross-country competition that is open to anyone who wishes to compete...”
A running competition to decide the football season seems a little unfair but we should look at entering this considering our superb fitness levels, with the close monitoring of GPS vests etc.
Reminds me of Year 9 PE, coming 68th out of 74.

That would require relegating Dover and upsetting their Chairman who was involved in the October allocation and may decide to expose the whole affair. My honest opinion is that he currently has the whip hand but things could change !

Sport England reject loan application from Boreham Wood -
Funding Outcome Letter | Boreham Wood FC
Thank you very much for applying to the Sports Winter Survival Package (SWSP). We have assessed your application for funding against the criteria to determine the extent to which it supports the delivery of the SWSP programme objectives outlined below. • ensure as many sports or sports clubs survive the period of coronavirus restrictions currently in place over the winter period which prevent spectators from attending professional sports competition • minimise the long-term damage to participation through safeguarding investment into grassroots community activity and women’s sport.
Based on that assessment unfortunately we are not able to offer funding towards your organisation on this occasion. The reason for this decision is the extent to which you meet the financial resilience and sustainability criteria. Specifically, applicant organisations must be:
At risk of no longer trading viably by the end of this financial year and/or failure to provide support would inflict long-term damage on the sport with associated severe consequences.
It is acknowledged the club has seen revenues fall significantly as a result of the impact of Covid. Spectator income has been hit severely, alongside the venue and 3G pitch hire. However, based on the information provided, the club has demonstrated that it has sufficient finances to enable it to survive through until to March 2022. The Board noted that the club finds itself in this position as a result of positive action it has taken in accessing wider Government support, receiving grant investment, and most importantly its own prudent financial management which has generated a financial surplus in trading years prior to Covid. Unfortunately to be eligible for support an organisation must have a financial need by the end of 31st March 2021. The submission from the club indicates that there is no financial need as of this date – nor at the end of June 2021 (end of season) or by end of March 2022. We realise you will be disappointed with this decision. If you are concerned that we have misunderstood any of the information provided, or you would like to discuss the decision further please don't hesitate to get in touch. You can do this by contacting us at the programme inbox wintersurvival@sportengland.org where one of the team will arrange a session with the case manager. If you do not think we have followed our published procedures correctly when assessing your application, you also have the option to register an appeal. We would be happy to discuss this with you further and we can provide you with details of the appeals procedure as required. Please note, an appeal would need to be registered within 21 days of the date of this letter. Yours sincerely, Nick Pontefract Chief Operating Officer Sport England

Should you wish to crow, their secretary's email address is ddelldell@aol.com, and here's the email I just sent:
I must write to say how much I enjoyed the recent whining statement by your chairman about the non-award of a grant to your club. The brass neck displayed was jaw-dropping.
Perhaps if you as a club hadn’t behaved so disgracefully in the cloak and dagger allocation of the initial lottery grant – which rewarded you and your tiny fanbase many times over compared to what you should have received, and unfairly penalised many others – you might have been looked on more favourably.
What goes around comes around. Your disgraceful behaviour will be long remembered in the wider football community.
Yours sincerely,
