I'd say replace with 2 Livesey's and we're better sorted. Imo Burke is likely to be a better centre half than Williams by Xmas. Unless he already is. It's too early to tell. Really good young players, like Sam Hughes, Chris Lightfoot, Colin Woodthorpe, come into a team and improve so quickly, that you wonder why they haven't been playing all season. Williams had a good season in a poorly protected defence. But how much did he actually improve during the season? In a better protected, more compact defence he may improve again. However, he probably still won't have the extra physical to cope with a lump of a centre forward. I must be one of the few that is still bit on the fence about Williams. Don't get me wrong, I'm really glad he signed as he's a promising player and has shown enough potential to suggest he will do alright in the game, but I'd worry if we're talking about him as the lynchpin of our defence without an experienced body alongside. He does get bullied by big centre forwards and I admire his bravery with his distribution but still think there's a lot of work to do on that area of his game too. In a better performing team I'm sure he'll progress more, but I felt he actually regressed a little bit in the 2nd half of the season but it probably didn't help having different defensive partners in a team low in confidence and low on midfield protection. Hopefully the extra contact time with day time training and a more settled team will help him kick on again. Agree with every word Si, regardless of whether it's a minority opinion or not.

I posted the other week that I felt he'd have been better spending most of last season at right back or holding midfield. Let's hope he improves again this season, in a more compact protected defence. He could well do so. The lads got ability. Cal's more likely to develop him that B+J were.

Kidderminster looking strong already.
Forgot Newton went to Buxton - big money there I guess.

Always wondered why Ndlovu hadn’t gone NL - really good player and anyone must be decent to score over 10 goals with that Brackley style of play.

Former Altrincham captain Jake Moult joins Buxton. Great signing for them, I hoped he might come here to fill our defensive midfielder-shaped hole.

Could be a tough season ahead for Kettering, lost arguably their best four players.
List a bit further up the thread updated after the weekends signings.

Club bar booked most evenings for events weddings etc. Not to sure who gets revenue for 3g pitches around ground. But if you make £300 a night average for club bar that's £100000 a year.

Alty fan in peace.... Unfortunately you guys could have signed most of the alty boys but you decided to change your training schedule, hanks, moult ,thompson and hampson could have gone full time but they have well paid jobs and can only train in the evening!!! i think your directors have really cocked up here because kole hall isnt that good and you could have signed some real class players.

So you think we should abandon our plans to eventually go full time so we can sign some Alty cast offs? Don't you think it's maybe your club that's made the mistake in the first place by forcing them to leave you by going full time?

Telford sign ex Maidenhead forward Nathan Blissett, former Eastleigh forward Tyrone Barnett joins Hereford. Two former players rejoin Blyth - midfielder Michael Richardson from Hebburn Town and defender Alex Nicholson, who departed Gateshead after opting to return to playing part time.

Wait, if you’re saying they made a mistake by going full-time then what does that say about us? Not what I'm saying at all. What I'm saying is that if all the players he's listed are that good, and have left because Alty have gone full time, then maybe it's his club that has made a mistake switching from part time.

You guys do like to twist words and each to there own, i just think unless you are actually fulltime then day training will hinder recruitment and to think they are alty cast offs is a little insulting and by the way we are trying to raise our standard a little more where looking at your recruitment you guys will struggle sadly i miss our games against you guys.
