You guys do like to twist words and each to there own, i just think unless you are actually fulltime then day training will hinder recruitment and to think they are alty cast offs is a little insulting and by the way we are trying to raise our standard a little more where looking at your recruitment you guys will struggle sadly i miss our games against you guys. As we have only signed 3 and Callum has said we've got about another 6 to come I'd say that it is a little early to judge.

Is it just me or has there been a recent influx of Alty fans coming on here? Feel like they are becoming the next Chorley trying to force some sort of rivalry with us. Northwich is more their level.

Alty fan in peace.... Unfortunately you guys could have signed most of the alty boys but you decided to change your training schedule, hanks, moult ,thompson and hampson could have gone full time but they have well paid jobs and can only train in the evening!!! i think your directors have really cocked up here because kole hall isnt that good and you could have signed some real class players. If Hancock is happy to play in front of 300 people at Curzon it doesn't show much ambition. Fair enough he's prioritising work over football, by choosing another Manchester (area) based club that's part time. No doubt there are some flaws with our hybrid model (if that's what we can call it) but it makes complete sense to me to have footballers who are focusing on football, rather than fitting it in around other work. In theory we should be able to attract players on the way up, who are hungry to give football a real go and get a move up the leagues. Our model has to be selling on. I suppose the downside is we may miss out on older pros who are on the way down but still have a lot to offer (like Livesey).

Don't worry about us mate we'll be fine. I'm sure in the near future we will manage to sort things out and one day we may even be as big a club as Altrincham.

Added the deals done over the weekend and so far today above.
Elsewhere Macclesfield cause a stir by signing Alex Curran from Curzon for an undisclosed fee.

Danny Elliott - "He's a player who we admire a great deal. He's certainly young in full-time football years and has got an awful lot of potential to grow into. He's a player that we're aware of and we would be really interested in attracting to the football club. We know that he's got a lot of interest from other clubs and we're not shy about competing with those clubs when it comes to trying to meet the best interest of Halifax Town."

Waring to Curzon doesn't surprise me. 3 of his 4 goals last season were against Lakeland managed sides.

Maybe he had more to choose from. All supporters look forward to seeing their new signings. It's only once you've seen them a few times, you are disappointed! If you were a Curzon fan signing a 6'4" centre forward from Chester, and ex Tranmere, you'd be pretty excited.

Totally, agree you only have to look at our Twitter after we announce a signing to see every fan base does it. In regards to Waring I know it’s an unpopular opinion to have but if they play to his strengths and can get crosses into the box he’ll get goals. Good luck to him though hopefully for his sake he gets a run of games to show what he can do.

Waring to Curzon doesn't surprise me. 3 of his 4 goals last season were against Lakeland managed sides. I found it quite funny reading Lakeland’s comments about him always being a standout opposition player, considering by far his two best games of the season were Farsley away and Curzon away. Regarding George himself though, I honestly hope he does well - it was obvious for a while that his time here was up, but let’s not forget that in his first couple of seasons he was actually a good squad player who added something different to the team. I think it’s pretty clear that he’s never likely to be a 20-goal-a-season striker, but Lakeland seems to back himself to get the best out of him and Curzon have a good knack for developing attacking players, as evidenced by the fact they’ve managed to turn Tom Peers into a good striker for this level.

Waring just didn't offer enough and we need to freshen up the squad.

[/quote] Different strikers have different playing styles only need to look at this with the most headed premier league goals e.g. Shearer, Crouch, Dublin, Duncan Ferguson to see the type of striker that thrives off crosses like GW. I agree that he needed to move on but it was hard for him to offer anything when he was on the bench each week. Also agree the squad needs freshening up which going forward we haven’t yet (There’s still time I know). LMH, Clarke and Dudley were all here at the start of last season and are 3 of 4 striking options we currently have.

Do you think I the forward line has been freshened up sufficiently as things stand? No. We have one unproven new face. Ideally we need another forward but given what's available/ our budget I think it will most likely have to be a loan signing once the season starts. We did well last season in pinpointing good young forwards, in Jolley and Dackers. I don't see much point in going down the journeyman route just for the sake of it. We have to be realistic that any proven forwards will be way out of our reach.

That's why the retention of the 3 from last season has baffled me, in terms of not leaving enough left to freshen up the front line. Hell of a gamble and an unnecessary one as far as I'm concerned. Yes there's no guarantee what you sign will hit the ground running but I am concerned about what we have at present.

A year older and stronger and with a bit of experience from last season - he certainly had signs of developing into a decent striker. I would say he has more potential than LMH.
