who would you pick to manage chester and where will you find him..there must be someone out there who can save this club , but previous board appointments have been of a poor choice, not an easy decision to make.

Have they been poor appointments at the time of appointing them? Or maybe in hindsight? I'd actually argue the appointments were decent. They'd all won this league previously, except McCarthy who'd done ok as a caretaker. Bern and Jonno seem to have had a shocker this season with their recruitment. But the basis of this team were good last season. They've put 3 good teams together in previous seasons, getting better each season. This season so far has been a major set back. Logically they'd put together a good side next season, if given the chance. Lets face it we don't know the characters of any of the possible choices, or even who is out there and would be interested. Either way next season we'll have a new set of players to watch and someone will need to mould a side together basically from scratch. Not a good basis on which to win a league.

Not many contenders though Morrison Callum Watson might be the ones the two should of been Cunningham or carden but they have jobs now

Cant say the board appointments have been poor.
Neil Young - 3 titles Steve Burr - won the league before Jon McCarthy - had a great spell as caretaker Marcus Bignot - I'll give you that one. But he did a job on us last night. Bern and Jonno - Had 3 decent seasons but struggled this.
Football is a fickle maiden though. The worrying thing this season has been the recruitment/resigning, and the subsequent imbalanced team its given us. The lack of pace and physicality is alarming.
After calming down and sleeping on it though I think we are best letting the managers contracts run down and hope that they can turn this long, long corner. I'd be asking them to try to continue ship out some of the excess squad members though, as done with Morgan.
Longer term, Sam Ricketts did a good job at Wrexham and is out of work. Cal Mac is doing a hell of a job at Runcorn. Glad its not my job to do.

They are all the things we are not. They are compact, hard to beat and have workrate He tends to play a 4-5-1, with a targetman upfront. Carden will probably do a decent job for Telford.

Up to 3rd in the league, behind Neil Young's Marine, who will probably end up as Champions. They are a strong outfit. Seen Runcorn win 2-1 at Clitheroe. (Burke MOM) Again, they play a solid 4-4-2. They have a good shape , are well coached and have a high work rate and team ethic. Lots of ex- Chester youth players doing a good job there.. Crilly, Hayes, Murray etc.

yes he Is doing well but could he get the players at this level..I don't think so. He's not just playing with kid's at Runcorn. He has a young squad, but he has a few players that have been around at that level, such as Brooke. In my experience its what you do on the training pitch that gets you respect. If you have a decent scouting network, then you will always identify players.

yes he Is doing well but could he get the players at this level..I don't think so. Why would you not think so? The current players we have at this level are hardly setting the world alight are they? Look at teams like Guiseley and Curzon. They have fit, young, strong players and play to a system that suits that. Their budgets will be a lot smaller than ours. He is diligent, prepares flawlessly, tactically excellent and brings the very best out in players. He is also extremely passionate, especially for this club. If we don't go for him someone else will.

Calums assistant at Runcorn is Colin Woodthorpe. 580 senior games. Worked with Dave Challinor at Fylde in the Conference as an assistant. This isn't some daft kid were talking about anymore.

However much he's done for the club so far and however well he's performing at Runcorn, he's not the answer to our problems (at the moment); needs to prove himself for two/three seasons in senior football. It is a very big step up to a club our size, with the budget and expectations we have.

I'd say more so than the appointments, the timing of their dismissals has been poor: Young - should have been more patient with him. It was no disgrace that we struggled a little in the NL. Time hasn't shown that one in a good light. Burr - probably sacked at the right time. Mccarthy - too late, should never have been given that summer. Bignot - sacked in the car park when we were already relegated. An awful episode. B&J - arguably should've gone after Marske, now might as well see out the season.

Most sense you’ve spoke in awhile, why would he potentially throw away everything he’s worked so hard towards for this shambles Never find it a good idea someone being manager of the club they support either pretty much never ends well these days

Agree with above re risk for Calum, also agree that with hindsight NY should have been given to the end of the season. Remember that NY was at the end of his 12 month career break from Merseyrail, and was wanting confirmation of the situation. Had he stayed until the end of the season, he may well have been part time. I doubt we'd have offered a new contract or confirmation of his position given where we were. He may well have pushed and forced our hand.

Callum for me, knows the players, works with the youth. used to managing a budget.
A good motivator, knowledgeable in the game.
Has a history of success.
Understands how the club ticks.
Chester through and through and will give his all for the success of the club, it would be daft not to approach him.
And not just in it to pull a wage

Would love to see him manage us some day, but at the minute i feel we need an old pro type manager who's used to this league or the one above. In terms of scouting, contacts and even the negioating side of things we need someone who has experience in these fields, not somebody learning on the job. Steve Davis (former Crewe manager) was one I really thought we should've gone for at the time of BM & AJ. 5/6 seasons at Crewe, experience bringing through youth players there and also decent knowledge of players from the leagues above. Think he's out of work currently too... Is a very tough job for whoever comes in if we're stuck with this crop of players though. Very worrying hearing BM again last night saying they were "out done tactically", I can't see a scenario where they're our managers come January.

Also the core of his squad at Runcorn are fledgling players from Chester who he already knows. Yes they’ll have signed others with more experience, but it’s a different kettle of fish coming to a club whose fans demand a return to the NL so soon in his career. Up until today my ideal would’ve been another four or five years of Bern and Jonno with Calum taking over at that point. Of course that’s gone to pot today after such a disappointing start to this season with the Lads.

I'm not claiming to have the right answers. Nor will I claim that what I'm posting is without flaws and potential drawbacks. Indeed, it might not even been realistic or feasible. But last night really got me thinking as it's obvious to me that what could initially be seen as a bit of a slump is now morphing into something a bit more critical in terms of how we get back on track.
So,here goes.... This is my train of thought, rightly or wrongly.
Current results and, in particular, performances have been shocking on too many occasions to be considered one-offs. I fear for the decline of attendances if things carry on (and all that entails)
IMO the managers have reached the end of the road in terms of results, performances, quality of recruitment, tactics and, I think, motivation (Others may disagree but that's their perogative)
So, however it's done, something needs to be done to address the situation. That said, with only 1 relegated, it would take a freefall of epic proportions for us to be in genuine danger of going down REGARDLESS OF WHAT WE DO. But, as things are, the impact over the next few months on the club as a whole could huge (see above and elsewhere)
So, as many have pointed out, we seem to have 3 options Fire the managers and get someone else OR part "amicably" at the end of the season OR seek some sort of interim solution eg gardening leave, temporary manager or player manager
Money, or lack of it (!), is key to the first option and may well be a factor in the second - we ain't got much/any + who is available + who would want the job + under what terms etc etc. Get it wrong and the ramifications would be immense
The third option can be seen as "brave" I suppose. But I'm warming to the idea of Bern and Jonno going on gardening leave and persuading somebody like Livesey to have a crack as interim player/manager. Financially it would be OK I think. It would possibly bring in fresh ideas and approaches and hopefully refresh and rejuvenate the players - something I feel we badly need - it may or may not work but would it be any worse than where we are at the moment? After all, IMO there is enough somewhere in this team to stay up regardless of who's in charge so, really on the face of it, what have we got to lose? Of course, it's not without risks but so is every other option but at least it may lift the gloom that seems to have settled over the club, provide a small amount of hope for the rest of the season and, of course, buy us time to really think about what we do longer term
So, in summary. IMO we are now at the point where something has to be done. Inaction is not an option. Each potential solution is fraught with potential pitfalls, some greater than others. But equally, each has potential attractions
The next few days/weeks are crucial.
