Keith Curle has just departed Oldham. Now this is something I can get behind….. But NLN is a lot different to leagues one and two sadly.

I can't think of who is available to be honest. Why did Scott Ruscoe get sacked at TNS? I don't watch much Welsh football so don't know but noticed he was after the Telford job.

Might be out of our reach but what about Kevin Wilkin always gets Brackley into the promotion places with a very small squad, would he move to a team with a proper fan base?

However, I think where the manager resides is going to be a factor. If he lives in Oxfordshire is he going to want to uproot. John Askey must be Cheshire based and would be my shout. However, I believe he is at York as an "Advisor" at this stage. Sam Ricketts would be a good appointment and would not doubt upset a few down the A483.

If Livesey does well they will give it him until the end of the season. Like I said though watch the team start playing better football now. Was purely down to the managers they were clueless.

Taking into account that we've no doubt had to pay off Bern and Jonno, the only practical solution is to promote someone already on the payroll. Wouldn't be surprised to see Danny Livesey keep the job until at least the end of the season. After all, with our financial restraints, it's not as if we're in the position to make wholesale changes so need someone who can motivate what we've got who's also popular with the fan base. Livesey ticks all the boxes I'd have thought.

I’d take Steve Watson or Keith Curle, although the latter may be costly. Tim Flowers is out of work too who did a very good job at Solihull Moors, while he was really unlucky at Macclesfield Town too given he was appointed just before they went bust, so perhaps he’s worth a shout? Also, Gary Johnson is currently under pressure at Torquay United so if he somehow departs them I’d snap my hand off for him. With him living all the way down in Portishead though it could prove to be difficult, but he’d be a great fit for us given he transformed Torquay from being a lower mid table National League South side back to being an established National League team. We’re in a very similar predicament to when he arrived there. Anyway, it’s still very early days at the moment so let’s see who becomes available.

Steve Watson has just been sacked for having York a few points ahead of us, with a budget far greater. No thanks
Given the situation with this particular squad of players and their potential propensity to down tools, this next appointment is incredibly important for the club. We're 6 points off the playoffs and 6 points off the relegation places.
I would really hope that some succession planning has already taken place given the writing has seemingly been on the wall for a while. Really don't get the idea of giving it somebody like Livesey for the rest of the season - why would you pay off the current duo just to play out the season with an interim boss?
The club should have learnt from past mistakes and already identified somebody - with our position in the league, depending on ambition levels, that's either someone you know will give you a tilt at the playoffs, or someone you know will keep you up. If it's the latter then, again, I don't see much point in firing the current incumbents unless you genuinely believed they were going to relegate us.
If the above has been done, I'd expect a quick and ambitious appointment. Otherwise we're just at risk of having another McCarthy/Bignot situation and then we'll all be thinking 'the grass isn't always greener'.

Can’t help but feel we’ve missed out big time on Carden by just a few days, though he wasn’t actually free and available to be fair.

Steve Watson just left York and knows the league Er, why did he leave York? Given their budget he's left them in an absolute mess. But you are right about getting someone who knows the league and, more importantly, has a good contacts book. We might also have to go down the pragmatic route and sacrifice some of the pretty football we've become accustomed to. Sadly, it's never going to get us promoted. One of Bern and Jonno's failings was that their style of play was fine on our billiard table of a pitch but didn't translate to the ploughed fields at many away grounds. Not sure who fits the bill but let's see how Livesey goes in the short term. Just don't expect miracles from anyone ...you can't polish a turd as they say.

Given Keith is free now it would be stupid not to just give him a call on the off chance he would be interested.
Barring that we need to open uo for applicants and see where that takes us.
Some of the names I've seen mentioned though, I mean, you'd think we were still a league club!

I admire the confidence of some here, but there is no chance of Keith Curle or Gary Johnson turning up here. Mike Flynn has been my favourite suggestion so far, I'm sure he is itching for a bit of Conf North action!

Watson doesn't interest me in the slightest given the size of budget he had at York, and Gateshead to some extent. We either be brace and ask someone on the off chance and if no interest open up the standard recruitment process. I would imagine we would end up with a fair few recognised names applying but then it's finding the best fit for us who can work with the current squad till end of the season and rebuild in the summer on what will no doubt be a fairly restricted budget

I can’t tell if people are being serious suggesting fairly successful league two and national league managers? Or is this the old ‘we’re a league club mentality’ Gary Johnson my favourite shout so far. Swear he’s never been north of Gloucester services.

I’d let Livesey see out the season to be fair and perhaps keep him on as assistant who knows.
My serious suggestion is Scott Ruscoe.
Did a good job at TNS playing decent football while also picking up lads from below our division on the cheap.
Also, had quite lofty expectations when managing TNS, not from their fans but in general of them being the most successful club in LoW, so can relate to the pressures of the Deva perhaps.
After this I’d take Dean Keates. Had Wrexham playing great football and took them the edges of promotion a few times.

If you’re a manager looking for work with a mortgage and bills to pay, you dont sit around on your arse, why not approach the unapproachable what’s to lose apart from a thanks but no thanks, better then some old goat reject.

Just getting over missing out on United and now us. Can't believe Banksy didn't give him the nod to hang on. Mike Flynn is a cracker. Championship or NLN? Tough choice that.
