When you're charging £17 to get in you do expect abit more then hoof ball though. That's a good point tbf. We need to find the right balance reallyOut of all the available options and if we could afford him I wouldn’t mind Steve Watson. If it wasn’t for covid he’d 100% taken York up.

Can't understand those that complain about this 'ugly' playstyle. We're a part time non league side, not City or Liverpool. Our main objective should be working towards getting out of this league by obtaining results consistently however possible. The 'pretty' style has hardly worked this season has it? And we're still stuck in this league When you're charging £17 to get in you do expect abit more then hoof ball though. Admission fees at this level are kind of a problem football has got itself into, and there isn't much the club alone can do about it.

Still don’t know who I would go for. Having gone back through all the suggestions in posts on this thread, probably plump for Sam Ricketts.

We aren’t in the position we would have wanted to be post-Bern and Jonno, but when they were given the job they had just won the National League North so they were hardly some random left-field choice.

I'd have thought will be looking a bit higher than the NLN for his next job to be fair. I think we need to be looking at someone managing, or having previously managed, at our current level or the level below.

So it’s been a couple of weeks since the previous management team left, who we get god only knows, who do we know that has or think will apply? Doubt we will get Curle, Rickets, Morrison doesn’t inspire me, Carden we missed the boat, Callum I would bring in as assistant manager with a view to staying longer term, ex Buxton manager sounds interesting, likewise so does Ian Sharps did well here previously, Im really struggling to see who would want the job, Barrow, Jenkins, Reid, no thanks, I would still take NY back in a heart beat, Culverhouse would be. A good shout but too far, Tim Flowers was another mentioned but went to a smaller club in the midlands, Chris Beech ex Carlisle and Neil Cox too is another poss contender, I did mention Mike Flynn yes we can dream, another is Kettering’s Paul Cox did very well at my local town (Barrow) so from the list Ive drawn up I would go for Sharps or Paul Cox if Curle or Flynn aren’t interested 😂

nearly 9 days and we are hearing nothing it needs sorting now "What we don’t want to do is rush a decision. So, from our perspective, we received a number of applications prior to any advert going out on Friday. We wanted to give time for these applications to come through, we are still receiving them on more than an hourly basis, expressions of interest from managers. We are still getting credible applications so, as a board of directors, and sub group from the board, we will review those applications, go through them in detail and see who is the best fit for our football club."www.cheshire-live.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/chester-fc-managers-job-chairman-22337307

The hysteria here is marvellous isn’t it . I like most of us are frustrated that we are most likely resigned to another season at this level . It is therefore of paramount importance that however Long it takes to make an appointment . And thus get it hopefully correct be taken. Obviously changes will need to occur during next summer . Given the ethos the club has more transparency should be taking place. Apathy previously came close to the club folding

nearly 9 days and we are hearing nothing it needs sorting now Hope this is a piss take. If not, it's absolutely insane. Nine days to recruit a manager that has ultimate control over a million pound business. A week and two days... "Needs sorting now!" Some members of this fan base are insane. Fully deranged...

Does ‘bluey7’ ever post anything that isn’t a pop at the club about the managerial situation? Can’t help suspecting that the poster concerned would be having a real whinge now for the club ‘rushing it’ if we had already got somebody in that they didn’t personally want.

Managers are brought in to get results regardless of what stlye of football they play, and I've never seen a club set their ticketing prices based on how attractive the footbal on offer - if that was the case it would be a fiver to get in anywhere that Tony Pulis was the manager.

The only worry I have is the board though excellent in lots of ways are not football people and will probably either have there own preference as we all do or they will be persuaded by an agent in to committing to the wrong man. An ex manager who I know well says that the problem with us is we have no football person on the board. It’s not really about who we get at this stage, the questions we need to ask as owners is how is the decision made and by who. We made a mistake by not kicking Neil upstairs when he left after our most successful run ever. My own opinion for what it’s worth should have skills to work with our budget which will only grow smaller after this season and can produce hard working teams. As chester fans we don’t expect to win all the time but we appreciate hard working teams that try and give us their best. Kevin Ratcliffe has sat on the panel for recruiting the last few managers IIRC It’s not about the recruitment, that is usually a limited choice it’s the day to day management of the budget and the player negotiation

There's no obvious candidate who is exciting me much, so I am now in favour of giving the job to Livesey and Grand until the end of the season. See how they get on. We're not going to go up or down. If they do OK, give them the job permanently, if not see who is available in the summer.

Highly unlikely we go down and I’m still holding onto a slight glimmer we could even back door the playoffs if we went on a run of sorts. If they keep us well organised and picking up points at home let’s keep them in and as you say, be a few more available in the summer.

We should absolutely have an expectation of the possibility of promotion via the play offs.

There has to be an element of business decision made here. We are not a wealthy club and have just released the managers from their contracts. We do not know the settlement reached but there will be some financial impact to the overall budget. I would stay with Danny Livesey and Simon Grand until the end of the season, irrespective of results, as we should have enough quality in this squad to stay up as a minimum. If we did get in to the play offs then that would’ve a bonus. By staying with DL and SG there is minimal additional cost to the budget which could allow some limited funds to strengthen the squad. They hopefully can galvanise the players in to a close knit group who will continue to battle for this club. If a new manager comes in now then he requires to be paid and then little or no additional funds for additional players. We need to get the best out of the players and I believe DL and SG will have the respect of the squad to be able to do so. I know many will probably disagree but we are a football club with limited funds and have to be realistic in our expectations. At the end of the season there will be more managers who will be looking for a position and choice will be greater.

If we're going to appoint a new manager and make that his target, we're going to be disappointed.
