Do you think the board will publish the list of applicants to debate, I very much doubt it. They do tend to leak out on social media, watch this space😉

it would be very wrong to let names slip out because an applicant may still be involved with another club..

Is anyone concerned about the style of football a new manager may play? Or is it purely a result based view?
Do we go to football to be entertained, or to watch us win? I know it's hopefully both. But somewhere in there is a balance.
Would we want a Billy Heath if we'd get 10 more points than we'd get under a Phil Parkinson? It's an interesting discussion point.
Bear in mind the "We should be in League 2 brigade" haven't been happy anyway. If the style of football is poor, results need to be great, otherwise attendances will drop anyway.

The board have put in the job advert:
- A proven track record of securing results on the field and developing a team to play attractive, winning football
In my view, it is always a risky strategy to appoint somebody who plays unattractive hoofball. If the results don't follow, the fans will turn far, far quicker than they did on Johnson and Morley. Look at Allardyce, even when he's done allright at clubs like Everton and West Ham, he's been forced out because of his style of play.
Beyond that though, this squad was clearly put together with the intention of playing 'attractive football' (succeeded at times, predominantly at home). I can't really get on board with suggestions like Andy Morrison - is this team really built to play that style of football? I think not.

The lads attractive style of play hasn’t really worked overall so far this season, to be fair.

Out of interest who are the mysterious League Two brigade? This is one of the cliches that gets trotted out occasionally, but I don't think there's a single poster on this forum who fits the bill. I think there's an acceptance that ship has sailed. Maybe you are confusing the League Two Brigade with the National League Brigade. I'd certainly accept a more pragmatic style of play if it meant a better chance of getting out of regional football.

I’ve backed my horse, gone all in on MOZZA.
The thought of him having Deadpool and Mac in a double headlock while headbutting Parkinson on the touchline is one I can get behind.
Let the good times roll.

Wasn’t Morrison’s success at CQN mainly achieved after Craig Harrison (who had won the league several times as a manager) was brought in as his assistant? Not trying to belittle Morrison’s achievements, but doubt very much he would have the financial freedom to bring in somebody similarly proven at our level to work alongside him if he did end up here.
Anyway, the Mark Wright comparisons already seem to be ringing true given how much he is splitting members of our fanbase - we’ve barely started the application process and I’ve already seen people on social media begging the club to appoint him and others saying they don’t want him near the place.

New manager, we need a fresh face, someone who has a good knowledge of the National leagues and maybe been a coach/ number two, rightly or wrongly the candidate must at this stage of the clubs development must be an ex pro, i will probably get some criticism for this statement but we have witnessed the results of a limited experience with a small net work pool.

There's only one man I dream of being in the role.. KEITH CURLE..
But there's no chance he'd drop to NLN anytime soon.
So I'm open minded about prospective applicants. Although I'm not feeling Jenks' application

Nowt to do with me as an Alty fan,but Jim Gannon is the only manager I know who has consistently got one over on our boss - just a thought! Didn't AJ recently refer to Gannon's Stockport as a 'machine'?

Can't see him doing a 180 even though he has the experience we need.

Gannon for his experience or Calum, with an experienced assistant Paul Carden would probably have been a good fit.

Yes, I think we should give Calum a go with a experienced assistant. Failing that how about midfieldgeneral who talks an awful lot of sense on this forum😀

Keep reading that Gannon doesn’t like us, but is there actually any evidence of it other than a few grumbles about our tactics 15 years ago and the Hessey incident? If he wasn’t keen on us in the Vaughan/Wright era then he’d hardly be alone in that really.

Jim Gannon?!?
A man who can’t abide us as a club.
A manager that took over Hyde as a lower mid-table club and has them second bottom now in the league below. Why would we lose two managers that we all deem have underachieved but have given us constant progression until this season with someone who is struggling from the league below?
If we’re hiring someone like that based on past experience and success surely we already had them in charge.

I agree - not Gannon.
I'm still leaning towards Callum Mc. Whether he'd take it is anybody's guess, but he's clearly a good coach with a genuine passion for the club.
