Awful from start to finish, no hope, no passion, we were at least 5 yards away from the ball when B Wood had possession for the whole game. The only two players who played well today were Hughes and Waters looked bright when he came on. Boredom Wood were nothing special, but they were light years ahead of us today. A HUGE shake up needs to happen this Summer, and it must start promptly. Special mention to Chris the assistant kitman who gave me and my sister a signed ball. We are made up and we thoroughly appreciate it. Have a good 3 months fellow blues fans, we all need a rest from all of this and I hope to see everyone in July. P.S Commiserations to Braintree and York. Especially the latter as it's a great day out. We are very very lucky.

No point talking too much about that, I'd just be repeating myself.
The longer this run has gone on, the worse we've looked. No sign of recovery whatsoever. We've gone backwards in every department.
We're paying a heavy price for sticking with him.

Yes that was dire today. Comfortably beaten by a team with no form. Players looked lost.
Only bits of skill from our side was Hughes constantly in a good battle with their centre forward and a header from Alabi well saved by their goalie.
Both of them will be gone next season.
I like McCarthy he's a decent man but I hope he does resign as we need a complete change as the players look jaded and without any confidence.

If fans collectively made their thoughts know about the manager he would have to resign, and not get sacked.

Surely that was the tipping point - we were outclassed by the second worst team in the Form Table . It has been dire for the past 4 months but today we reached a new low and surely McCarthy cannot be allowed to continue. I heard several people saying they wouldn't be buying season tickets unles changes are made and who can blame them.

On the field very poor. But off it the way you are treated is impeccable. Today my company sponsored the match ball and from start to finish they done everthing for you. Very good good and plenty of drinks and a signed match ball presented by the legend Mr Gary Talbot. Well done Chester fc for great hospitality. .🍻

Fair summaries here to be honest. Been watching for last 50 years and this is the worst run I can recall. What a shambles the day was. I had the £10 offer which I responded to but did not collect as in the meantime a relative advised of the new offer of £5 with a season ticket holder- no mention of mechanics. So there I was in the turnstiles the season ticket holder presented the £5 and the gentleman responded - what`s that for? My relative advised of the offer to which he said go to the office to get the ticket - I took the £5 and replaced it with a £20 - happy to pay as usual but unhappy at the lack of proper communication- unprofessional. However to be told at half time not to go on the pitch at the end when the players do a lap of honour really took the biscuit. Seriously? A lap of honour? I could hear the booing as I crossed the car park.
Clueless and rudderless is the best I can describe the performance but lack of effort is unforgiveable. We could have gone down but the body language of the team said it all - mentally not there and Boreham Wood , poor as they are, were up for it - second goal said it all - they pressed our defenders to giving up possession the half opened up and lynch left flapping at thin air again - why were they pressing with nothing to play for and we just sat back and let them play - seen this far too often. It is generally an away tactic for the away team to try to quieten the home crowd - we do that to our own crowd.
Positives were few and contracts should be few for this team. In my opinion , keep Lynch, Hunt ( best improver from a poor start), vassell not been the same since injury, Astles definitely ( but even he looked depressed today) Hughes will be gone,Shaw and Lloyd need to go as Do Davies and Marsh - Dawson tries and deserves a further look - at least he can shoot, Durrell I am 50-50 good when he shows up, Richards can go obviously, Alabi lost without help ( probably will go if Richards not there anyway) Akintunde deserves chance to get fit but we need more. Joyce, Horwood , Killock and George should all go and Mahon must stay as he is the little spark we have when fit.
Yes we have had injuries , yes we have had bad refereeing decisions, but gutless performances have lost the crowd. Unless there are changes I have better things to do on a Saturday. I will probably relent by next season but watching that lacklustre display depresses me. I can understand a manager wanting to keep his living when he has a contract and he may not go - but he must know he has lost the players ( that seems clear to me) and he has lost a lot of the support of the crowd. I can tolerate losing to teams who beat us on merit like Tranmere and Macclesfield but giving up winning positions late on to the likes of Woking and that today show there is a problem which is fundamental.
Change please. When I have had a Gin and tonic the pain will lessen but next season we will go down unless there is major surgery. We have a decent following at this level but we need Manager and players singing from the same hymn sheet and playing for those of us who have stuck with the club through thick and thin.
Rant over heading for the Gin Bottle.

Hi, I took advantage of your ten pound offer and want to say what a great and friendly club you are.
Thought it was a lovely gesture giving that fan a game for the first half (the little fat ginger haired lad who was ever so keen to take the free kicks). Even though he'd probably never played football before (and it showed) you supported him and encouraged him fully. I'm sure he will be made up and on cloud 9 when he walks into McDonalds later for a couple of Big Tasty burgers.
Keep up the good work Chester!

Forget £5 offers, we should have let everyone in for free if we had no intention of putting any effort in on the pitch. Total embarrassment of a performance.
No entertainment, no fight, no passion.
I've not heard Macca's interview but I assume its the usual drivel. Relegation favourites for certain next season.

Actually, Duck, Sam Hughes showed passion, had a constant, entertaining tussle with their striker all game until their guy was subbed. It's a shame no one else put in the effort.

We are too lightweight in midfield. I like Durrell but when you also throw in Lloyd there's no real strength.

I know what you say about Shaw agree as a totality lightweight is a fair description. They go missing as a group too often and lose possession too easily at great cost and whilst our defenders are the best part of the team they are hit with wave after wave of the opposition without adequate cover and with no outlet up front as distribution is too poor the defence is bound to concede and frequently. I am no football expert but if I can see it why cannot the management?

The one thing I would've said in McCarthy's defence until recently is that even though results have been poor, the effort has been there, we haven't exactly been disgracing ourselves and have even made top teams like Lincoln and FGR battle hard for the points. The last two games however have been walkovers and I agree with those saying that we seem to be getting worse and worse. We were truly terrible today. You could see that Boreham Wood are not much cop themselves but they didn't need to be. Anyone could beat us at the moment.
Throughout this poor run, McCarthy has constantly insisted that we've done enough and the players deserve new contracts. I don't care what he says as long as we get results, but I think what we saw today is the upshot of how little the manager is asking of the players. Some looked in holiday mode today. Safe or not, they really have not earned the right to stroll about like that.
What kind of message does it send out if you can finish 17th one season and 19th the next, and still know that there will be a contract on the table for you? What does that make us look like as a club, and what sort of players do we hope to attract if we send out such a clear message that the bare minimum should be rewarded?
When Neil Young was here, he was always demanding more of the players even when they were winning leagues. Any time Iain Howard started to look like he had a comfortable place in the team, he'd bring in another left sided player and get him to up his game. I think he got the best out of Sarcevic too by challenging him to score more goals. I sometimes wonder whether we'd really be any the worse of if Young were still the manager now.
It needs to change. McCarthy can't be here next season, at least not as manager.

I'm not saying I think we should reappoint Young as manager, because a lot's happened since and it's the sort of thing Newcastle would do, but I often think if we'd just tolerated that poor first season and been a bit more patient, things might have turned out alright in the long run.

young had a massive buget for that level and used all of it with a revolving door policy, I don't believe he could manage on the present budget and that's not sticking up for the present manager. It's just my opinion re his stints at Stockport and Altrincham seem to back this up.
