Going back a few years, I sadly noted recently that one of my favourite players in the 70s, Ronnie Phillips took his own life after a long spell of depression. Sorry if this is a well known fact but it came up at work recently when a colleague who lives in Bolton told me. Ronnie ran a Bolton off licence for many years before his death. :-(

Both Ben Davies and Danny Collins at Grimsby. Both mid 30s but would take either I reckon if available I saw Ben Davies at Notts Co this season. He got a bit of stick as an ex Notts Co player too. Had a decent game. Has had a decent career and was a good player for us. Good dead ball specialist seemed to want to copy Beckham. |

Going back a few years, I sadly noted recently that one of my favourite players in the 70s, Ronnie Phillips took his own life after a long spell of depression. Sorry if this is a well known fact but it came up at work recently when a colleague who lives in Bolton told me. Ronnie ran a Bolton off licence for many years before his death. :-( Bit of info about him here. He died 15 years ago apparently. |

Richie Foulkes (played a few games for us in 2010/11) is at Flint Town.
Chris Sanna and Alex Titchner were both at Conwy Borough last I saw.
Too many to mention in the Welsh Premier League.
Getting about the local leagues I've spotted a few random old Chester players here and there. I couldn't believe it when I heard the name Conkie....it must be nearly 20 years since he made the bench for us at the Stadium of Light.

Matt Conkie seems to be in goal for some Cheshire team or other whenever I go and
watch North West Counties games - he has been at Barnton this season (not
Winsford Town - I assume you meant Winsford United BTW) - was at 1874 Northwich and
Congleton Town previously.
Kevin Excell, Matty Woodward (pre-season only for Chester), Joe Heath and Kieran Evans at
Runcorn Town.
Rob Hopley at Witton Albion.
Matty McGinn, Tony Gray and Ashley Williams managed to get relegated from the Welsh Premier
with Airbus.
Dylan Forth with Northwich Victoria.
John Danby, John Disney, George Horan, Danny Harrison, Tom Field, Callum Morris, Wes Baynes and
Michael Wilde finished 2nd in the Welsh Premier with Gap Connah's Quay.
Alex Brown and Iain Howard at Curzon Ashton.

Thanks for the Conkie info New Blue. Barnton were the opponents at Winsford that day so that makes sense. You don't have any idea if the Jon Jones playing upfront for Barnton that day was the lad who played for us in the late 90s?

Whatever happened to Scott Barlow? He came to Chester from somewhere like Trafford or Mossley and had a great scoring record. He played about three games and never played again for Chester.

Sean Miller is contracted at Altrincham for another season. Finished their leading scorer last season despite being injured just after Christmas.
Got 10 goals in 19 starts and 5 off the bench, Damian Reeves got 8 goals in 31 starts and 15 subs appearances.
