I see only 77 members have bothered to vote so far .so a small minority of the membership get to decide the future of the site . interestingly ,thats similar to the attitude within the football club where a small minority of people do exactly as they like (jon McCarthy especially) and sod what the majority think

Disgruntled - what issues are you having with registering? I think the most common issue is that initially you can't enter any spaces in your display name - this can then be changed from your profile after registering. It's looking like we are moving to a forum where you have to register so I'd suggest you do it while you can still post as a guest so that mods or others can help with any issues!

Is he a guest though ? I have good reason to believe he is a registered member who didnt have the guts to reveal his usual identity because he doesnt think guests should be allowed to post . I've now locked the poll. The majority clearly support a members only forum so I'll respect the results of the vote and have now tweaked settings to allow everyone to view but in order to post you'll need to register. Hopefully guests will understand, and it honestly doesn't take long to sign up so I sincerely hope they aren't put off and will sign up and continue to contribute.
I can create a guest forum is there is support for it. I'll get it added on tonight and see how it goes - but just to be clear, a guest forum will not be moderated.

I would suggest to pin a msg to the top which explains in detail how people can register so it's not seen as becoming a closed shop.
I mean a real idiots guide explaining that the username cannot have spaces etc. Because to be fair that's not immediately obvious when trying to register.
I think a guest forum is a good idea. Even if it's only temporary
