Or more accurately, Leslie Compton, brother of Denis. J Southerton was 49 years and 119 days I see what you did there but as this is a football forum, there is an assumption that the question referred to the England football team not the cricket team. 😏

This is probably too easy.
Name the teams that start and end with the same letter?
I think there are 5?
A clue is that one of them has dropped out of the league.

On most clubs chat rooms this thread would have been called Close Season Boardroom Threat 😂

Good try Rio. 4 out of 5 correct. Celtic's full title is Glasgow Celtic, so it's not them

Name me the only club in the U.K. whose name doesn't include any of the letters included in ''FOOTBALL''. Clue: They don't play in Wales.

There are at least 5 current Premiership teams that have occupied the bottom position in the EFL (Football League) at some stage of a season.
Name them.

Swansea, Brighton, Burnley and Bournemouth are right. One more. -
I'm almost certain Stoke have never been in the 4th division.

They haven't, but that doesn't mean they have never been bottom of the Football League as it only contained one division when it was first created in the 1880s. From googling it, Stoke did indeed finish bottom of it in the very first season.

Well done Rio ..... indeed it was one of those.
It was the one that the great Herbert Chapman managed.
I'm sure you'll be able to work that out.

Hull City would have counted too had they stayed up.
It just goes to show that it's not the end of the world if you hit rock bottom.

Is Bournemouth correct? That season we went down, it was Luton who were bottom throughout with their -30 goal difference.

Hull City would have counted too had they stayed up. It just goes to show that it's not the end of the world if you hit rock bottom. "... in 1976–77 Watford were briefly bottom of the entire Football League."

How many Chester players past and present have had palindromic surnames (same backwards as forwards)? I can think of: Ross Hannah Angus Eve Karl Noon (trialist) Reply with any others, or whatever bits of football trivia, quiz questions and other miscellany you can think of. Did Derek Rotavator once play centre half for us or was that just a dream ?
