Got a feeling this game may well be key to the mood for the rest of the season.
Its a game we should win, and probably need to, to keep ourselves in a good play off position ahead of a tough match at Tamworth on Saturday. Southport seem to have picked up lately, so this could be a decent game.
I think Cal will have thought he got the team selection wrong on Saturday given the way the game went. Although the highlights do show we created a few chances, mainly from Tollitt's corners. His delivery was excellent.
Our best 30 minutes of the season was probably the first 30 at Southport. We ripped them apart every time we attacked. Let's hope we can get ahead, play well and get the confidence back.
I genuinely don't know what the score will be tonight. If we play well we could win 3-0. If we play as we have been it could be a tough watch, as we've lost something recently.
I'm going to be overly pessimistic and go 0-1 with a 2044 crowd including 120 from Southport. Happy to be wrong though.

Must-win tonight as we need to put an end to this run of draws that we’re on. Was a frustrating game against Curzon Ashton, because although I thought we played pretty well, once again we struggled to break down a side who sat back. Kieran Burton had a very good debut, as he was combative, strong in the air, and was a threat at set-pieces. Shame he received a red, although at least he can still play this evening. The officiating was horrendous, but we can’t blame them all the time. Is a shame to see how far ahead of us Chorley are all of a sudden, because they’re seven points clear with a game-in-hand. Our target for the whole season though has been to just make sure we finish in the top seven. Nine more points should do it, but we need to return to winning ways quickly. I’ll be live tweeting this one on the ‘cestrian_central’ Twitter/X account, so if anybody is unable to make the game, then I’d love it if you could keep an eye on my updates.
Score - Chester FC (Burton, Caton) 2-0 Southport.
Attendance - 2,031 (82 Southport).

Looking at our run in...we have some very tricky games. Which makes this game, on face value, an absolute must win. Cal & the lads will know this.
I am being positive and going for a 2-0 win. Caton & Burke with 1,920 in attendance and 108 from Southport.
UTFS!

A win would be handy More than handy, and as near a must win as your going to get for me at this stage of the season especially with a tough away game Saturday. As for Cal being under pressure, I hope he is and does start to feel some because our home performances haven't been great, results have been ok but the entertainment value has been poor generally. Yes I think we will make the playoffs but we will have to have a change of mentality and tactics to get out of this league.

This fixture doesn't seem to matter about form or league position, we always lose at the Deva. Last league win was 2001 which is some stat considering the amount of matches between the teams. We've come in to this match sitting in the play-offs in previous seasons and been hammered 0-5 and 0-4.
Plus Chester's performance at Haig Ave was the best opposition performance I have seen in a long time. Was just an onslaught from the first whistle. As you can tell I'm not very optimistic.
But football would be a very boring game if the favourite always won; the case for the defence is our away record. We are 5th in the away league table which is some stat considering where we've spent most of the season. Away from home already beaten Scarborough, Banbury, King's Lynn, Warrington, Buxton, Stortford, Hereford, Rushall...
For home matches the players should be made to board a coach and drive around for three hours first.
Anyways I will be making the trip over so hopefully a good game.

Be disappointing if the crowd is sub 2,000 at this stage of the season! Any sort of win required.

It isn't an absolute must win. But it would certainly go some way to alleviate some pressure on future results in order to make playoffs a guarantee. Is that better?

Need to win tonight, far too many draws right now risk derailing a promising season so in that respect pressure is there whether the usual suspects want to admit to it or not.
