With the greatest respect, I don't think people are questioning the budget on the back of the last few games, it's more tactical and a drop in performance and confidence. I don't know Southport's budget, but we lost tonight because we played crap and they actually finished their chances, not because of budget. Talking over the course of the season of course it makes a difference. I'd be interested to know what Tamworth's budget is (or Curzon ofr Brackley).

Warrington town are doing well on a low budget so why can we they are 3pts behind us with a game in hand as I said last week where has all the money gone tamworth miles ahead with a quarter of our attendances

I don’t think we are physically strong enough to get promoted from this league. Been saying this for 2 seasons

Now Chorley have gone behind at the death. What a shame we didn't capitalise tonight. No point looking at others. We need to take care of our business which we are way off doing. The last three home games have been woeful, any playoff rival would not be worried in the slightest. We have had two shots on target in the last two second half’s. No idea what it is if you include the Spenny game but guessing it’s grim reading.

Talking over the course of the season of course it makes a difference. Easiest thing i' the world to blame the budget. Who on earth wants to take us over??? It's a load of crap as well. It's all about how you use the resources you have. If it was all about budget then Scunthorpe would have won this league by a mile (or Stockport before them).

Our recruitment over the summer wasn't good enough, We've no money to bring in players we desperatley need in. Hope im proven wrong but i can't see us getting out this league any time soon
Seems to be the same story every season

You've just made the point. Recruitment not being good enough is not the same as budget not being big enough. You can spend all the money that you want, but recruit the wrong players. Look at Manchester United.

If there's one thing I don't want to hear from Calum tonight it's a smart arse remark back to Neil Turner when he doesn't like a question he gets asked. He more than anyone out there was poor tonight and needs to realise it. Every home game the same with no lessons learned.

Great takes Tollitt off for Caton. Amazing that. Weeks, Whitehouse, Glendon done nothing all game, takes a game changing player off and keeps those 3 on. Take one of Weeks or Whitehouse or Glendon off and play Tollitt in behind Caton and Peers why would you keep Peers on?

Does our actual hybrid model hurt our recruitment? Must be hard to recruit players and get them to work their proper jobs around our schedule?

Agreed. Woeful to watch. Been banging the drum about the midfield all season. So narrow and our right back is the only player who can beat a man. Don’t deserve to go up, and if we did we’d be absolute cannon fodder. Nothings going to change until we gain investment of some sort. We simply can't financially compete against other teams challenging at this level & above. Budgets don’t come into. The players on the pitch are good enough but the performances, tactics and subs made haven’t been. If you offered any team in this league a front 6/7 of whitehouse, Glendon, Weeks, Peers, Caton, Thomas, Toillitt they would snap you hand off. However we lack a plan B with no target man to come on and no winger to change. Last season we always had a good bench. We have tried to become more technical and tip tap but we need other ways of winning football matches which we are unable to do right now. The big irritation in all this is we just seem to be doing the same thing every week, same tactics, same pattern of plsy. sticking to our beliefs is admirable but every game is the same pattern l from start to finish.

Think it's all been said already, seen it too many times with the same predictable outcome. Southport were big, solid, worked hard but what they did have was that focal point up front to hit who held the ball up and brought others into the game, They put 4 great balls into the box from the byline and could have scored with all 4. Yes the goal was a blatant push but we deserved nothing again tonight. Substitution of Tollit, baffling, the crowd bored to death. Wouldn't be surprised if we picked up a result Saturday, but regardless it's winning your home games, sides have sussed us out and we have no plan b.

Exactly needs to own it and go back to the drawing board. Games running out and we're in a poor spell, lacking goals, lacking creativity in our play. We aren't secure with the play offs and too many more performances like that and we'll miss out.
The tactics were frankly crap all game, too slow at the back, Southport clocked onto us first half pushing up on Edwards and Williams when they had the ball and then having a man up on the full backs straight away. Midfield were anonymous all game offered little option so left with pumping aimless balls forwards. When we do try switching the play it's 3 or 4 passes that take forever and by the time we get the ball on the opposite flank the space that was there has gone.
Southport switch play in one drilled ball and it stretches us on the pitch. We had more than enough opportunities to do that first half especially and didn't do it.
Second half taking Tollitt off at 0-0 pathetic. The 3 in midfield were useless all game, fine if you want to put Caton on but put Tollitt in behind or just tell him to find space, let him drift in on the left, on the right through the middle, get him to find space and get him on the ball, he's creative, he's direct, get the full backs running forwards off him then, let the forwards be in and around the box, not constantly having to run the channels because we have zero width.
These tactics need to be rethought before the rails really do come off our season, if Cal has ambitions of taking us up the leagues then he needs to recognise when something isn't working and find a way to change the system to make us more creative.

This manager has taken us as far as he can, No imagination, no risk taken. Crap tactics and unable to learn from failure. Playing favourites even when they’re not in form. Play offs- a joke. Winning the playoffs- pure fantasy

Seriously at risk of throwing the play offs away at this rate, just hope this is the rocky patch before we hit form because this Saturday being the exception, we need a decent run of wins. Any less than 6 out of the next three and it's over in my opinion.

Also, imagine being a neutral or casual fan and you’ve been to either of the last 2 home games?
Or for that matter most home games this year. It must numb you senseless.
So much for growing the fan base.

He signs the same players again and again, probably because of his systems. It gives him no flexibility and we end up with a team of identikit players and so no plan B. Peers is not a player that you can lump the ball up to, but he is being asked to do that job and failing. If you want someone to do the job then get a player who thrives doing it.

Another dire performance but can't say I'm surprised as it's the same rubbish week in week out at home. I did expect a response tonight after Saturday & we were even worse. They all need a good kick up the backside. Really looking over our shoulders now.

The problem in my eyes is we have some very talented small players but not enough tall players. In this league the ball is in the air more often than not. so a team like southport can come along be aggressive play a lot of high balls and beat us. Next season we need to get the balance right with bigger players aswell as the small ball players.

We have capability to move the ball around quicker and be direct without having to lump it forwards. We're too slow simple as that, doesn't matter if you are 6ft 6 or 5ft 6

An unshackled Weeks was an infinitely better player last season too. Playing in that 3 hasn’t worked for him at all this season. The infuriating thing is that it seems sacrosanct so how can we change tactics?
