Leicester City!
Felt this deserved it's own thread, Sam is a real credit to the club and only got better since January despite the club turning down an offer from Barnsley from him, which could have led to his performances dropping and him becoming unhappy. But he didn't. He kept going and has his reward, as he signs for the Premier League Champions 2015/16! A huge huge huge well done goes to the dedicated volunteers who have raised Sam in the academy for the past few years, and to Burr and Macca for switching him to defence which has turned out to be a master stroke, without them he would not be here today, and well done to Mark Maguire and the board for agreeing to tuen down the offer in January, to get us a much better deal now. All the best Sam!!! #OneOfOurOwn 🔵⚪️🔵⚪️🔵⚪️🔵⚪️🔵⚪️ www.chesterfc.com//news/article/2016-17/sam-hughes-signs-for-leicester-city-3729867.aspx

Good luck Sam, the sky is the limit now! Having said that, I do have a quibble with the people running the club, OUR club. What right do they have to refuse to tell us, the owners of the club, for how much money they have sold one of our assets? Under these circumstances, as we do not know how much money has come in to the club, we cannot know if all of that money has gone into our club or where it has gone if it hasn't. This is not a satisfactory way to run a fan-owned club and it breeds suspicion.

We know it's rumored to be 125k so you'd think that's fairly accurate. If we disclose the fee against the other clubs wishes that doesn't exactly sell our club very well for any future talents we have to sell on, it could even have financial repercussions.

Hats off to the lad, very good move and I hope to see him at the very top one day.
Because the fee hasn't been released does this mean we also won't find out if there is a sell on fee?

What a move which he fully deserves, and what a talent. I've been fortunate enough to have met him and I wouldn't be surprised if he will be an England player one day. Also, a big well done to the club, including Calum McIntyre who coached him in the academy and to Mark Maguire who has handled the deal really professionally. I wish him well, and hope he has a successful career. One of our own! 🔵⚪️

Every Chester fan should be delighted with this news, there is no cause for negativity whatsoever. How many times in the past have we seen a potentially lucrative transfer be messed up? Not in this instance though so credit to the club and CEO for handling this so well.
After seeing Hughes play a few games at centre back I thought he was destined for big things and I'm pleased to see him get to the top so soon. It also means that promising local players are going to look at Chester as a club who can help them realise their dreams. Those who helped Hughes' development should also be very proud.
Also, well done to McCarthy. It was his decision to move him to CB and make him captain. I'm one of McCarthy's biggest critics but credit where it is due.
Hopefully Hughes keeps developing and makes this proud club even more cash.

This is not a satisfactory way to run a fan-owned club and it breeds suspicion. Even I won't criticise the club on this one. I am sure, when it comes to the AGM, the budget papers will reveal the information that you require. Keeping fees undisclosed is common practice and it protects all parties. We don't want to find ourselves in a position where clubs/agents are demanding more for potential signings because of a figure they become aware of. People that are demanding to know are only doing so out of an instant desire to be 'in the know'.

Maguire on Radio Merseyside - LINKMaguire spoke well about the club there. Liked the bit where he acknowledged we are fan-owned and would prefer to know the fee, hopefully those moaning about it will make note of what he has said.

Good luck to him we have lost Bradley Bauress to Barrow a young player who had a brilliant season for us and was a joy to watch. You have to be pleased when non-league helps good players get up there!

I take my daughter now and she has had the fortune to meet most of the players, including Sam. Says a lot about our club now about how accessible the players are made to young fans, it leaves a lasting memory and strengthens that connection between fan and club. Ignore idiots like this Rio, make the most of meeting your idols, embrace it. You are a credit to this club.

Absolutely delighted for Sam. After the club rejected a bid in January from a club higher up the pyramid, he could have sulked and been frustrated. Instead,he understood the reasons for it and got on with playing football and now that professionalism has rewarded him. As supporters, we should be proud of what our academy achieved with Sam to nurture him, with Macca for growing and developing him, and those behind the scenes who handled the situation in the most professional way possible. Given that Leicester have praised Mark Maguire personally, this will reflect on us as whole and hopefully bodes well for the future.

The bloke has come in for an absolute battering over recent months, and where most of us would have taken the easy option by accepting the first bid in January, he saw that the club could quite rightly have gotten more, and that patience has paid off. As CEO, he will also have played a huge part in negotiating the contracts for the players we have brought in too.

The role of a CEO is a very important and quite a tricky job which I think Maguire has handled well so far, such as rejecting the bid from Barnsley in January and also avoiding a tribunal. Don't forget, he has only been in the job for around a year now, and one of the first things he mentioned is that it would take around 18 months for everything to come to fruition. The season ticket campaign looks like it might be a success, especially with him wanting to tempt more children to Chester FC with the free season ticket. If some fans stay patient, they might start to see some things come to fruition very soon.
