Another pivotal game for us today. Our Good Friday win at Buxton was crucial and long overdue, especially given that pretty much every side around us won as well. If we’d had dropped points then our play-off hopes would’ve been over, but I was so made up that we ended our winless run to keep them alive. Our performance was superb, as we had a completely different approach by actually going all out to win for a change. Barring a mad opening few minutes, where Kieran Burton made a mistake for the Buxton goal, we were great after that, and it’s much more enjoyable to watch when you see your side on the attack, rather than just sitting back which makes for a boring affair. We played with a bit more width as well, because Adam Thomas, who was my Man of the Match, offered himself as an outlet out wide, and he put some terrific balls into the box. All four goals were really well-worked too, so hopefully that’s a sign of things to come.
It’ll be another tough game today, as Alfreton Town have always been a tall and well-organised team. We have a good record against them, though, and they need the points just as much as we do, so hopefully they’ll go for it rather than sitting back, which should make for a more entertaining game. We absolutely must go for it, and we need to perform much better than we have at home recently, as draws aren’t enough now. Good Friday’s display at Buxton should hopefully be a benchmark that we can build from. I reckon there’ll be some goals in this, so I’ll go for a tight 2-1 win, that would put us well back in the mix.
Score - Chester FC (Peers, Tollitt) 2-1 Alfreton Town (Thewlis).
Attendance - 2,294 (58 Alfreton Town).

Tough game to call today, hate playing any Billy Heath side but we just need to play our own game.
Let's hope we can complete our Easter resurrection

Not expecting a particularly pulsating encounter, but we’ve got a surprisingly good record in this fixture, and I think the confidence gained from Friday’s performance will be enough to inspire us to a 1-0 win - a rare goal from Roberts causing the Harry Mac to belt out that terrible ‘walking in a Roberts wonderland’ chant.

Chester 2-0 Buxton. Peers and Burke 2,578 with 43 away I'll go with that.

1-0 down and it's same old same old. Hardly had a shot and they are big fat lumpers ! Next season we have to match the braun. I think the current team would actually do ok in the league above but we are trying to play too much football with no end product 😩

I swear every time we play these we join them in a game of hoof ball. So so fucking annoying. We’re never beating these in the air, just need to play it on the ground and keep the ball moving with pace and the chances will come

Alfreton are the prime example of an effective non-footballing football team at this level. Old fashioned target man number 9 and central defenders, a lot of long balls and time wasting. Not pretty to watch, but we never do well against these types of teams. We have to turn this round, currently 3 points off the play offs with others with games in hand

With nothing to further lose, it's very much a case of a shit or bust second half.

Alfreton have nullified us. We’re hardly getting near the box. No meaningful balls going in.

0-2
It's been a poor season not just from us but from others as well this shows with Tamworth Winning the league. They were woeful down here. Just think if we had a 30 goal scorer this season rather than last it would be the difference. But they're the most expensive. If we don't get promoted (Not looking likely) we don't have to do much in the summer to see where we need to strengthen, the issue is those are the players that are the most expensive. Let's hope the increase in gates/FA Cup run means we're able to get someone that can make the difference next season.
