Help please - any prospective fan would expect to gather up to date information via an official website, hopefully to make an informed decision. Chesterfc.com tells me that Jon Worsnop is our goalkeeper along with eleven other players who are no longer at the club. We need a site that is accurate and up to date.

The club are working on a brand new site so they've probably neglected looking after the current one.

Whilst I'm trying hard to be positive, we have a full-time CEO, and General Manager. Please don't tell me this is yet another thing in the pipeline. At this time of the year we need to be providing everyone with accurate information. Too late when people have opted for other clubs who care about providing a true information service. I notice another thread where someone is asking for a preseason list of fixtures. Sadly no answers. I wonder if they tried the Chesterfc.com site?

In this case they have!

Given that the media team are all volunteers doing the job for nothing and they're really quite busy with the introduction of a new website, surely you can give them a bit of a breather on the old one?
Or even better, perhaps you could volunteer to update the information which is out of date seeing as it appears to be causing you such frustration?

I wouldn't dream of volunteering beyond my limitations. I bear no criticism towards any volunteers, but merely point out a fact. In my opinion wrong information is worse than no information. My only frustration is that you appear to be happy with incorrect information!

Maybe 99% of the questions are usually opinions and not actual questions. Also I'm guessing you ask questions on there? I'm sure the club put out a email address for people to ask questions on? Volunteers will keep this club going, don't slate what helps you support your local football team.

It's the media team who look after the website, not the CEO or General Manager. And what a shite media team we have. Absolutely no need for that. Our media team are a hardworking group of young lads who volunteer for our club. Their is no need to criticise them at all as they do a great job day in day out for us, by keeping us updated on the pitch and publishing interviews with new signings etc. That is not the respect which they deserve.

Correct there is any official twitter, what did you do before social media? Email or letter? Not disrespecting the questions you ask but if you got a bad response to your question via social media your going to reply annoyed? So to avoid the club looking Silly via that,im sure the questions you asked via twitter can be answered on here or email. Also please remember these social media programmes maybe ran by volunteers and hard for them to answer as they more than likely have a full time job. As we know in life these days it's all about earning a living.

This is the sort of post that cries out for some better moderation. blue4life really seems to be an unpleasant troll who cannot keep a civil tongue in his head. Why do you like being so nasty and uncivilised to other people, especially volunteers? Perhaps you should stay off here until you can learn to speak to people in a better way. Mods: we don't want to be like the old board, but come on, this is just nasty!

Please note the origin of this thread. We have a website many many months out of date in respect of current players. We also have a full-time CEO and General Manager. These are facts. We are hardly likely to attract new fans based on a website so out of date. Clearly there is a nucleus of fans who are falling over themselves to defend the indefensible as if they feel they are somehow self appointed hierarchy. Get over yourselves and allow free speech to all. Childishly telling people to "do it yourself" is an attitude straight out of the playground. If volunteers are hard working and cannot maintain a website then they should not be held responsible. The full-time, no doubt well paid members of staff are responsible for accurate and up to date information. They have not done this, and neither have they done anything about removing incorrect information from the official website. Very poor to see two well paid officials sit back, collect a good wage, and allow volunteers to be criticised by concerned fans who end up having a go at each other.

If we're looking at a new website, why would we invest time and possibly money (at least in wages) in updating a site that is to become dormant. It's really easy to e-mail the 'fans@chester' address and get a fairly quick answer as to when the fixtures are taking place and if there will be any official list updated to the website. If the CEO was updating the club website, i'd be asking questions...it's nothing to do with that role. While procurement isn't either, and i know he does come of that, i think updating the website is surely a marketing issue. Perhaps the GM can be questioned on this as you's think he would 'manage' the situation. I do think however, after some really positive news with Sam Hughes, this seems a little petty to rant at the CEO. Posting on DevaChat won't always get the answers you're looking for, so to be proactive and e-mail the club isn't too tough. There could be others with similar questions, so information received back could be relayed to help others too.

To be fair to the lads (and lasses as far as I know) on the media team, they would not have i) the information or ii) the permission to publish things like season ticket sales on twitter.
I think that the twitter feed(s) have really improved this last 12 months, with some interesting bits and bobs.
The website though remains an absolute dire mess and cannot be changed to something more user friendly and better laid out soon enough.
