Genuinely don’t understand why people don’t rate him. I think he’s class. Chuffed he’s staying.

Big call but not that surprised. Good player undoubtedly but it's less money in the budget for what is necessary squad wise.

22 goal involvements in 47 games.
Wow. We’re so lucky

I assume because he's been a key part of a team/squad who have collectively failed their objective for a number of years now. I personally think he's a good individual player, but he doesn't have that winning mentality and I don't think we're a lesser team without him in it. I wouldn't expect him to step up and put in a star performance in a crunch game like a play-off match. A small example was that abysmal penalty against Banbury. Stoppage time, three points at stake, pressure on and he wilted. He's not alone though. The same can be said for Weeks.
But the manager has made the call, so let's back it and see if it pays off.

Great player at this level hopefully we can find a system for him and weeks to work with
Would personally strip his captain role however need a proper leader as captain

Great signing.
Personally, I don't even see it as that big of a call. One of our better players and top scorer in what was a generally poorly performing team last season.

Think this is a good signing so long as the new bods we get it are the types we are looking for (big, hard bastards).

“We want to make sure that we add some physicality into our midfield for the season ahead to allow players like George to play to their talent and show the best side of themselves.
“We are looking to add two holding midfield players to the group to compliment the obvious quality we already have in those central midfield areas.
The above quote from Cal,
Weeks and Glendon can work together but they have never really had a physical player behind them to allow them to flourish. Hopefully the above will show us that.
I can see us going for 3-5-2 next year with wing backs going forward

How many games did we go without a goal at the back end of last season?

Look can't argue with his numbers, he's great for this level as is Weeks. BUT as a duo they're so easily out-fought, and Weeks' games suffers as Glendon is allowed to play higher up. As someone's said it will depend on the others recruited around them. I'd be worried if we're starting Robbo, Glendon and Weeks almost every game again.
Cal has repeatedly admitted we lacked physicality this season, and that's now Weeks, Glendon and Murray all signed up. Hopefully a big striker, ball winner and a few decent full backs around them and we'll finally see them flourish, but I don't think it's controversial to say that it'll take a a big improvement from what we've seen from them in 2024 so far

Mmm not to sure about this. I would have liked the budget to be used elsewhere. We already have Weeks and Murray who do well in George's preferred role. Surely getting a box to box DM, like Louis White from Marine and a proper centre forward, like Connor Woods from Warrington, would have been better. I really can't understand how this will help us improve. Weeks and Glendon can (sometimes) work together, but I think Weeks looks a far better player when George isn't on the pitch.

I'm a massive fan of Glendon but I'm not happy with him signing. It's still the same midfield as last season which was just so poor at times. Weeks will continue to struggle if he's playing with Glendon. The two don't work together & as Weeks was under contract surely it made sense for Glendon to move on?
Whitehouse has to depart now though for sure as with Murray, Weeks & Glendon where & how would he fit in. Also as much as I like Glendon I agree with some when they say that making him captain would be a mistake. Over to you Cal, let's see if you've learnt from your mistakes. I have a sneaky feeling that Glendon will remain captain & Whitehouse will also sign.

Based off this signing and the comments above, there will no change to the diamond system that clearly didn’t work last season. Let’s hope the recruitment is better to suit the system then otherwise it’s more turgid football and a mid-table finish

Yet it’s worth crowing about for some? ‘Great, more turgid, insipid football for next season. Have that, turds.’ Is there some kind of parallel universe where Glendon & Weeks has worked in the past 5 seasons and we’re actually in League 2?

If we judge Glendon and Weeks as individuals then there's no doubting their talent. However, there's probably only one season where they looked compatible as a pairing and that was the behind closed doors campaign. Weeks had his best season without Glendon, and when Glendon was back last season it seemed to neutralise Weeks as he was undoubtedly playing further back which is not where his strengths lie. Weeks needs to be in and around the area playing the give and go's and getting shots away, not pirouetting on the edge of his area. Roberts played that holding role a lot in the last couple of years and has done well at times, but realistically we need someone with more legs and physicality instead.....not easy to find those kind of players but if you have any chance of getting Glendon and Weeks playing to their maximum whilst in the same starting 11 then it's an absolute must that the holding player has all the necessary attributes to allow them the freedom to go and play.
It's a bit lazy to say the same system will maybe see little difference.....we were massively hampered by the full backs last season. They were supposed to give us width but Joel Taylor was a shadow of what he once was, Coates was injured most of the time and when he did play his final delivery was shocking.....our most effective full back was Burke who played out of position and did a better job than both of those I've mentioned but it's not natural to him. We also needs forwards who are going to make better runs and work the channels better, rather than waiting on the toes of a defender and fighting aerial duels....not sure Peers is an intelligent enough footballer to do that but a fit Caton should do better this year and Calum will surely be assessing possible transfers in that area. It's not the system that's the big problem, it's just that you need quality full backs to make it work.
Going back to the Mark Wright conference winning team.....Kev McIntyre absolutely quality at that left wing back role in both aspects of the game, Jamie Heard very influential going forwards (not always defensively), and then forwards who could make the ball stick and bring others into play.....it works with the right players.

I think 3-5-2 is how we’ll go next season primarily. It's been hinted at a few times. Ideally that would be Pollock, Burke & Williams as three centre backs with Roberts as backup. Woodthorpe first choice left wing back with Heywood as backup and both of those also capable of slotting in to the back three if necessary. Glendon, Weeks, Murray and Daly sharing the front two central midfield positions between them in front of a new holding midfielder with another (perhaps younger) as backup. Depending on the situation can switch the midfield three to two holding and one attacking or one holding and two attacking. Two up front.
Need: RB/RWB x2, DM x2, ST x2 + maybe replacements for Williams and Stanway.

Must admit I'm not sure it sits right with me that our club captain was touting himself to B&J which is kind of what Jonno has implied. Don't blame him for having a conversation, would have expected nothing less given the previous relationship between those parties, but I expected that it would have been initiated by B&J rather than the other way around. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, I just thought it was an odd thing for Jonno to come out with - he was being goaded by one of our gimps on Twitter so maybe it's just a bit of tit for tat without loads of substance.
