We have some defence now. Could we be looking at Burke or Williams as DM's?

Great signing on paper Rawlinson! Bags of experience including 18 apps in league two for Notts Co. this season. The sort of player Scunny would've signed last season, so great we've been able to get him in.
Can only assume we'll be lining up with a 3/5 at the back with the signings and re-signings we've made. Really pleased with our business so far, a lot of experience added compared to last summer!
Still a physical type of striker required and a backup RB, but we're not far off now IMO. Bring on August

We have some defence now. Could we be looking at Burke or Williams as DM's? Possibly so, but we do have Bainbridge and Roberts there too. Cal mentioned in the latest podcast that Burke will be used up fromt at times this season, I'm hoping that's a last resort option rather than something we'll see for entire games tho

I wonder whether someone will be going out now.
We've now got two new centre halves to go with our two best outfield players from last season, who are also centre halves. Can't play all four as centre halves.

The latest, and I would have thought now the last, player to have played for the club both pre- and post-reformation.

Personally astonished that we have brought in another centre half when the money could have been spent on more advanced areas where we look as if as we are still lacking. But what do I know, time will tell, or maybe someone is on their way out? Maybe we are going to bore the opposition and supporters into submission next season.

😂😂😂 Right on cue 😂 If we signed 11 right backs and they were wearing blue and white you would be happy. Some of us can debate the pro's and cons of what we need as a squad of players, as well as potential value for money. Callum quotes we are tens of thousands short when it comes to the finances we need to bring in goals, do you think Rawlinson is on peanuts now or was at Notts County? I don't doubt he's a good acquisition, but question if we need him.

We have some defence now. Could we be looking at Burke or Williams as DM's? Cal hinted that Burke could play up tops perhaps this confirms this?

So it might be something they're thinking of doing.

Rawlinson good signing but I think we are too top heavy there now

What a great signing. Haters gonna hate. When a league 2 calibre centre half becomes available, you just have to take it. A back 3 of Williams Rawlinson Pollock concedes barely anything. We don’t even need a striker, every game 1-0 or 0-0.

Does seem a bit harsh on Burke or Williams to miss out after last season's performances. Unless of course one of them plays midfield or upfront. I suppose we could play 442 with them playing at full back. Or play two holding midfield players and let the other 4 get forward. Doubt they're likely though.

Jim Green has said on X that we are working to bring another forward in but it’s likely to be close to the start of the season, patience needed from the fans.

Anyone else think Rawlinson will take over the captaincy from Glendon?
Would surely be more vocal

Superb signing this. We needed leaders and this lad has it all. I'd imagine this signing sees Burke move further forward. Really impressed with the recruitment this summer and hopeful of a good season.

Could also be that we've made an offer to a player (or two) and they are keeping their options open until nearer the season starts.

Mind you not having to pay for and being restricted by the Brackley stuff this year and some money for Stanway has probably helped. Don’t think this last signing will be marquee unless Cal is bluffing us, maybe a young striker dropping down or stepping up but not reputable. The only chance we could have for someone like might be waiting to see who is out of favour when the season starts and go for a loan.

All the signs point towards 3-5-2 at the moment. You'd think it would be Burke who may get shifted around, purely because of his versatility. Not sure it's entirely best for his development if I'm being honest - he was shunted to left back for a chunk of last season and did reasonably well but can't help but feel he is centre back first and foremost. May see him play right full back for games where we need to shore up a bit, thinking the tougher away games on a farmers field. Obviously he's also played in the defensive midfield role at times, but whilst he has the physicality I'm not sure he's got enough composure to play there full time, plus that is supposedly where Bainbridge will play. We're all just assuming Glendon and Weeks will play together, but there may be some rotation in that position too.
Either way, it's quite clear that defensively we'll be rock solid. Will have to wait and see what the full backs offer and what creative license they're given before we can feel more assured that Cal has addressed the attacking flaws of last season, as there won't be any width in that midfield again.

I think our budget has been used to physically strengthen and add character to the side. The signing of Rawlinson is a really good one in my eyes. We need that leader, dare I say we missed Kenyon when he left. For all their abilities, Weeks and Glendon aren't on pitch leaders. Hopefully the spine being strengthened will enable our more technical players to create chances.
