Jack Bainbridge from Marine Manager Calum McIntyre said: “We have had a need for an out-and-out holding midfielder for a number of years and I am pleased we have secured an important piece of the summer business. We are clear this summer. We need to add a physical presence to improve what we already have. We need to add experience of playing at this level and being successful. We need to add goals". chesterfc.com/jack-bainbridge-signs-for-chester-fc/

6ft midfielder, scored the winner in the playoffs against Macc apparently. Don't know anything about him, others might be more knowledgeable on here? Welcome to Chester Jack.

We have been crying out for a bit of height in midfield for a long time & finally we have it.

Not a player I've particularly rated when I've seen him in the past, but obviously some physicality and bite in midfield is what we've been after so happy to see what he can offer in the blue and white.

If he’s technically a better footballer than Lewis Earl then we’ve got ourselves a decent player.

Quoted from a Southport fan on their forum.
"He will no doubt have a good run of form there and Chester fans will think they've got the next Yaya Toure, then he will do what he always does and go missing for a few weeks / months and they will be on his back like they always do when things aren't going their way".

Can he put a foot in, kick the shit out of the opposition and pass a ball five yards? If so, welcome Jack.

Disgusted that Neil didn't use his "inside information" to let us know about the new signing, maybe he can enlighten us on the goalkeeper situation

Need a young up and coming goalkeeper like the past two seasons. Someone who's agile and quick on his feet, not some old has been with dodgy knees and slow.

Having seen him play 100 times for Southport, I would say first off you have signed a good lad. Always regarded as a positive, committed, popular player who is good for morale and gets involved with creating a team spirit. Nobody has a bad word to say about his character, which counts for a lot.
Ability wise limited, he was released when Bentley took over from Watson as he wanted to play more football. His heart is in it but technically he isn't adept.
That said, it's all about variety in midfield and given Chester already have an array of gifted pretty ball playing centre midfielders (some may say too many) having a yard dog to back them up may be a good formula.
Certainly wish him all the best as he never did anything but give his full committment, even if he was outclassed against better opponents.

I think that's exactly why he's been signed. Kev Roberts has been good in that role, but is getting on a bit now.

I remember your gaffer going on about how many crosses are put into the box (that nobody scores from) Jack has that hard-to-teach natural timing of his leap where he will get on to things, it's worth 5+ goals per season if used correctly. He's got attributes absolutely, just don't expect him to get invloved in pretty triangle passing moves or it will go out for a throw. Doesn't seem like a natural Chester player as you wouldn't want him in a possession based team, he'd do wonders at Alfreton or Brackley... but we will see!

A lot of our fans will be delighted we've signed someone who can do the physical stuff, we definitely need players who can deal with that better. Problem is, they'll also expect him to slide 30 metre balls to the overlapping fullbacks, who they will also want to be great defensively. Hopefully he be a good addition to the group. If he has the attitude and personality you say, he should be.

Surprised we've been able to get him as surely there were other clubs wanting to sign him. Goalkeeper is the most important position in my opinion so to have a very capable player there especially having lost Stanway is a smashing bit of business. Good signing.
