I know an election is not supposed to be humorous, however, have just seen a brilliant typo on an American news website referring to the upcoming British “General Erection”.
Made me chuckle, probably more than it should do!

Labour don’t need to campaign.
Sunak doing all the work for them.
What a complete embarrassment the Conservative Party are.

Nothing funny about Sunak ducking out of D-Day commemorations. My Grandad was in the first waves on Juno Beach. They called D-Day the longest day. Sunak wanted it to be the shortest day for him so he could get on with electioneering. Utterly disrespectful to the veterans who gave everything.

Sunak protesting that he had to do without Sky TV growing up reminds me of Theresa May saying running through farmers' fields was the naughtiest thing she's ever done. So ridiculously out of touch.
I worry about Farage in this election. I'm almost more bothered by him than I am about who wins the election. If he wins Clacton and becomes an MP, what's to stop him immediately defecting to the Tories, who will surely be looking for a new leader if they are trounced as badly as predicted? That said, there are already MPs in the Conservative Party who are worse than Farage in my opinion - Lee Anderson and Stella Braverman for a start.
Weird to read that early 2000s pin-up Holly Valance has turned into an alt-right loon and is hosting a pro-Trump event in London. Nothing to do with her marrying a billionaire, of course.

Any serious thoughts on the eve of the election?
Not as excited as I thought I would be about the likely imminent demise of the Tories. I've not liked Labour under Starmer from day one but I've kept thinking I'll probably vote Labour anyway just for tactical reasons.
However, the final straw for me has been the welcoming of Tories like Natalie Elphicke into the party when they represent absolutely nothing of what Labour should stand for, while so many who had anything critical to say about Israel were expelled. When lifelong Conservative donors (not just voters, donors) are saying they're going to vote Labour this time and Labour are boasting about it, it makes me realise this isn't anything I can vote for. Green Party for me as the only left-leaning option, but I recognise I'm in the minority and Labour will win.

First General Election I won’t be voting at all. Feels strange but we are where we are. I expect the turnout will be low, which might help the Tories and Reform get more votes than expected. Definitely young people seem very disengaged from the whole thing, the ones I work with mostly say they never got round to registering.

Even if you have no one you would like to vote for, you really should go to vote, even just to spoil a ballot paper.
Many, many people have sacrificed an awful lot over a long period of time for us to have this opportunity.

Would’ve voted labour if they’d tighten up their immigration laws and didn’t have a leader who goes back on what he says weekly
Think there be a lot of people who don’t bother voting tomorrow

Even if you have no one you would like to vote for, you really should go to vote, even just to spoil a ballot paper. Many, many people have sacrificed an awful lot over a long period of time for us to have this opportunity. It is an opportunity though, not an obligation. I'd tend to agree though, at least make an effort. That said, I don't really blame young people for being disinterested when they're not listened to. Decisions like Brexit affect them more than anyone and they had no say in them. The last time anyone put together a policy aimed at them was the Lib Dems in 2010 and they immediately betrayed them. I'd like to see more done to get kids interested in this stuff. Lower the voting age to 16 for a start. Possibly have some sort of official Children's Vote in schools that actually means something, like a children's representative in the House of Commons. Teach more about politics and philosophy in school, and less about religion. Kids have interesting things to say about government in my experience, they come out with more sense than many adults.

Pretty excited in all honesty - it’s the day you could be forgiven for worrying would never come.
Sure, the prospect of Starmer as PM might not particularly be one to set the pulses racing, the Labour campaign has been a bit uninspiring overall, and they’ve made some blunders along the way that they really didn’t need to make - but it’s just plain wrong to suggest there’s no difference between the two major parties. Starter’s Labour have committed themselves to more progressive ideals than they’re often given credit for, and I’m confident that they’ll be able to bring about positive change and begin to mend a broken, embittered and deeply divided country. Above all, I’m looking forward to finally waving goodbye to probably the most evil, self-serving and downright inept government we’ve known in modern times; Lib Dems as the opposition would be the dream, and while I’m not expecting it to happen, the sheer fact we’re discussing it as a possibility illustrates just how grave the situation is for the Tories.
And yet, why am I still gripped by an irrational fear that the polls will throw up the shock of a lifetime, and that the nightmare will continue for yet longer? I won’t believe it’s over until Sir Keir is stood at the lectern outside Downing Street…

I see Chester is red and blue for the first time ever and probably for many years to come you would think. Spare a thought for the people of Handbridge, Lache and Westminster Park, who through no fault of their own have been thrown into a constituency miles away from the city and slap bang in Tory heartland.
