Couldn't find the old thread, but Monday was ridiculous. My lad goes for 2 coffees and a coke at half time. No lids for the coffees, so he puts the coke in his pocket and goes to carry the coffees. "Cant do that, need to take the lid off the coke" he's told. Lady behind the counter struggles valiantly to take lid off. Lid thats designed NOT to come off. Taking the lid off leaves a shard of plastic so sharp that the TSB would have put to use in 1982.
He has to get the steward to help him carry the drinks back to the seats. Hot coffee all over his hands. Surely its more dangerous if a player gets rinsed by a hot brew, than if someone decides to put the lid back on half a bottle of Pepsi Max and use it as a hand grenade?
Don't know who I'm blaming, the kiosks for not having coffee lids, the mad H&S rule about bottle tops... don't know. Just needed to get the ridiculousness of the situation off my chest. Oh and the steward in the boater is a class fella for helping him out.

Have noticed this too, wherever this rule has come from is ridiculous. If people worry that plastic bottle caps are going to be used as a missile then we need to stop selling everything as these are classed as missiles.
A boiling hot pie or plastic bottle top that weighs about 2 grams!

No it’s the full bottle itself they’re saying is a missile.
It would bloody hurt if it hit you but I’d rather be hit by a full bottle of pop with a closed lid than have sticky Coke or Fanta all over me for an hour.

It's ridiculous. I bought a Fanta at the Brackley game and just before I'd got to the kiosk one of the stewards had come in to make sure the staff were taking the lids off. It's not easy to take them off as they have been designed to stay on, so clearly the H&S guidelines are now outdated. I felt sorry for them having to constantly wrestle with plastic lids, and there's no doubt it had a knock on effect with the queue. Last 2 games I've taken my own bottle in and put it in my pocket walking in, problem solved but the kiosks lose out on a few quid off me, and I can still nip to the toilets and fill my Pepsi with the lid on and launch it at the ref if I like.

The kiosks are a shambles at the minute and getting worse, I stand near the main stand and the last few games the kiosk hasn't been open and the other kiosk ran out of hot food at 3.30 v Brackley.
Jim Green Banksy read this site so please try and sort it out.

Was at a non league game the other day (not Chester) where the home team scored and someone threw his beer (plastic cup and all) in the air to celebrate a goal. It came down half full, hitting another fan on the back of the head. Looked nasty at first but fortunately she was not seriously hurt. In the aftermath her son confronted the beer thrower and ended up being ejected.

Everyone should take their own food and drink in That would solve the problem of the kiosks I always do as I have at least one, usually two, of my kids with me so we have a bag of snacks and drink. I think that is quite common in the West Stand family section anyway. The kiosks is overpriced shite.

I don't mind the prices, just buy some fucking lids for the coffees.

They’ve always had lids for my cup of tea, if there’s none out I just ask. Admittedly didn’t buy a brew at the Scarborough game.

A couple of people i took to the game enjoyed the cottage pies, a lid off my bottle of coke was a pain as you feel compelled to drink it faster before you spill it or knock it over, but understand why we have to do it. Will take my own bottle top in future

The quality of the pies I’ve had, has always been good. the cottage pies the other week were nice. Had to go back for forks though. The price is a bit steep but it is what it is for a footy ground.
Maybe have a whip round and buy the servers some secateurs to speed up the lid removal process. Could have them sponsored and featured in the program?

I don't get this whole joined plastic bottle top thing. It just seems like Coca-Cola and other companies giving themselves a pat on the back for their environmental efforts when actually they're doing nothing. Wouldn't most people recycle the lid and bottle together anyway? Seems odd that you would put one in the recycling and not the other. And doesn't it use even more plastic to create the bit that keeps the top attached to the bottle. If they're really bothered about the planet, maybe they should stop using so much plastic? Recycling plastic is inefficient, with some studies saying as little as 5% of it actually gets reused. Plus we're all ingesting too much plastic in the food and drink we consume.

Don’t get me started about the lids on the pies. A pie with no sides but it had a lid!! Seems mad, in this day and age, that there is discrimination depending on the lid!
EDIT - apparently no pies left (and a few years too late), sorry

No point spending ages every week separating everything and faffing around with recycling bags on your drive when some dickhead millionaire takes a 30-minute jet flight from one city to the other. Eat the rich, save the world x Far too much onus is put on the general public to lead some sort of climate revolution. Not saying people shouldn't do their bit, but unless major businesses are more responsible with the materials they use, and governments enforce it, it's futile. It drives me mad when I read articles about "wishcycling", basically implying it's our fault for not recycling correctly, when businesses are using non-recyclable materials when they don't need to, and councils are being too finicky and inconsistent about what they can and can't recycle. I even read recently that you have to be careful when recycling till receipts because some of them are too glossy. I'm sorry but that's not my problem! Get on to the retail sector, the people who make glossy paper or whoever and tell them to sort it out! I'm not analysing the glossiness level of every receipt I get before deciding which bin to throw it in Gone way off topic sorry. Can someone start moaning about pies again to lighten the mood?
