I don't remember who, but over the last few seasons someone (or it might have been available through the old site) set up an online calendar for the season's fixtures, for geeks like me to save down on my phone calendar. Does anyone know if the new site will have this available, or is anyone clever enough to set one up? Thanks in advance

Nice 6 pointer against Tranmere in April for the automatic promotion place

If I'm on the ale with my mates I couldn't care less about the scenery There's a place called The Auctioneer if i remember correctly? Decent Ales. You may well be better off smashing an all nighter than sleeping though Won't be much sleeping going on let me assure you 👍🏼

It's a better start than I expected, with three winnable games, however I must say I am disappointed that both Hartlepool and Leyton Orient away are midweek. Looking forward to the new season though, and to tick some more grounds off on my list.

I'm not sure we can say any game is winnable at the minute. We haven't seen the opposition and we haven't seen if our own lot will click yet.

Got to question the way they work out these fixtures, Halifax away 2 days before Christmas, may as well throw in Eastleigh away then as no one will be bothered. September we have Eastleigh, Torquay and Dover on Saturdays all away, nightmare. Then we get two new teams coming down in orient and Hartlepool, both games away are midweek! Fixture list is so rigid, needs freshening up a bit. Halifax don't have the best pitch either. Winter and pitch could be in a bit of trouble, another postponement possible?

I don't know what criteria others use for choosing their away games, but I tend to split them into three categories:
Probably
Tranmere, Macc, Fylde, Wrexham (if the bubble goes)
Maybe
Halifax, Guiseley, Solihull, Barrow
Unlikely
Everyone south of Solihull, along with Gateshead and Hartlepool
With the Maybes, it largely comes down to how much money I've got and whether it's a Saturday or midweek, so I'm actually glad it's those games that are all on weekends or bank holidays, rather than Hartlepool or Orient which I'm unlikely to bother with anyway. Maybe a selfish attitude, but I think having these reasonable distance away games at weekends will make a difference to how many we take to them. With the longer treks, only the hardcore will go regardless of when they're played.

The long away trips out of the way in midweek and the more local games on a Saturday will do for me. I've been to both relegated clubs more times than I care to remember - both depressing places and I wouldn't miss them. The whole league this season is crap. About six games out of 46 to look forward to.

I go every away game no matter where with my mates on the train, but thanks to the National League, it is now impossible to do Hartlepool or Orient on the train. The last train back for both are during the game. Totally ruined it for us Chester fans and I'm very disappointed with it as the two games mentioned were the two I was looking forward to particularly.

Ok I'll rephrase it. It's a shame York and Southport went down and Altrincham, FCUM, Stockport, Salford and Harrogate never came up.

Looking forward to the new season though, and to tick some more grounds off on my list. Those first 3 games and the word winnable ought not to be in the same sentence. As said above we don't know how this team is going to perform yet. To be honest I'd take 4 points from those 3 games. We'll probably get 2.

Not as much fun as the train, but it will get you there and back. assuming you live in or near Chester.

Do the club get a cut of the money made from coach travel out of interest? If they did I'd be more willing to travel on the Hipkiss.

Anything made from it is probably just put back into the running of the service.

Or you could think of it as supporting a local business with our community ethos, rather than giving money to a faceless corporation.

Our game at Tranmere is on Non-League Day this year.
I know it's harder as the away club, but it would be nice if we did something for it as we've let it pass by in recent years.

So you're sceptical about using the official supporters coach as you're unsure if the club make anything from it but you're more than happy to use trains all season knowing full well that the method of transport doesn't benefit the club financially? For the record, the costs of the Hipkiss are covered by the price you are charged. Any profits are stored by the Away Travel Club to use as they so wish (normally some kind of sponsorship).

True, I seem to recall from my days as a Hipkiss regular that any profits would be invested in sponsorship, covering shortfalls on those less glamorous away trips where the coach isn't full, and if anything is left after that then one or two games later in the season might cost you less than normal to travel. Granted, the coach does take a while and you can't have a beer, but its perfect for those long midweek trips when you'll get delivered to the doorstep of the ground and can just kip all the way back or stick your headphones in etc.

For anyone attending the Bromley game in November, the Virgin trains ticket sale is on again. I've just booked my return to Euston for £22. It's then another £12.30 return to Bromley South.
