Really can't get worked up in the slightest about Wrexham going to Portugal. If they were playing Benfica, Porto and Sporting Lisbon it might make me feel a bit envious, instead it's a game against a side probably known no more internationally than Flint are! Sure it's fun for anyone making a holiday out of it though.

Anyway, hope your players enjoy flint tonight. Bet they wouldn't want to be in Portugal this time of year anyway. Speaking as a fan of a fellow supporter-run club operating on a tight budget, is paying for the whole team to sun themselves in Portugal the best use of funds? They will use that as a stick to beat Keates with in a few months time. "Why wasn't the money spent on Alabi, Hannah or Cook? instead we've got an injured Boden and a few suntans." will be the cries from the Wrexham cyber-warriors.

It's all free boys, cost us nothing. All from our shirt manufacturers. How did your deal go with your kit suppliers again?
Jealousy is a horrible thing.

The allure for a footballer of a pre-season in Portugal has to be viewed in the context of also having to play for Wrexham, hence why so many players are still turning them down despite their jolly. Unlike the allure of the blue plastic box in front of one man and his dog, oh yes and streamers too

Hopefully we have a complete new idea and brand for the next season. It's is not possible to ever be Jealous of you lot Just think how those players will feel having to go back to the dump of a village to play football week in week out. Poor sods!

As nice as it would be for the players to spend there pre-season jollying around and tanning up in portugal, i would much rather our squad prepare for the realities of non-league by facing teams like Flint, Runcorn Town, Hyde and Alty. Genuinely there must be a lot more value to it.

You say don't judge a player off past achievements, but isn't that how you sign players? You look what they have achieved and hope they can replicate it for you. Otherwise you may as well sign any old sod (like mills for us last year). Is scouting not exactly that? Hurst may have had a few clubs, he's a squad player. Kingsley James is your star man/captain. Let's be honest, of all the players you have signed the only one we would of wanted, and obviously did, is Hannah. Apart from him I honestly don't think any of your players would get in our starting 11. Before you say James, wedgbury and Kelly are a class above him and he would be a bench warmer at best. Anyway, hope your players enjoy flint tonight. Bet they wouldn't want to be in Portugal this time of year anyway. That reply epitomises the arrogance your fans have and I Just don't get it. We don't have a star player, they all have quality. I'm not sure you can accuse Wrexham fans of being arrogant on this particular thread...did you read the first post? Both sides look far stronger to me than last season. As for injury prone strikers I personally wouldn't tempt fate there looking at the record of Akintunde and White...

So Alabi joins Hannah and Andy Cook in turning them down. Instead they end up with an injury prone striker from Scotland. They are going to struggle scoring goals next season. It's probably one of the easier fixtures next season for Chester! Oh dear you have no idea about our signings and those we are going to sign have you and I still wouldn't rule Cooke out just yet ? I have watched both our friendlies so far and was impressed by what I saw but cant make it to Portugal tomorrow when you are playing Flint aren't you ? For the record I think that Chester have recruited a few reasonable if old players that may keep you out of the relegation dog fight this season but the bookies would disagree with me. Your problem was and is your manager our problem was and is no more our manager so its going to be a very interesting season for both our teams. Good luck with thinking playing us will be easy this season . Ha Ha From what I have read today, I would definitely rule out Cook signing.. 1) Tranmere want to keep him, 2) Notts county have had 2 bids for him turned down (which I have no doubt that you couldn't match) and 3) Do you really think Tranmere would sell a 24 goal striker to a rival team in the same league? Keep dreaming sunshine!

Akintunde is a bit harsh he's had one career injury, just happened to be last season. But it was a bad one and he'll have to ease back in. Hopefully he's over it and is fully recovered. Same with White. I just wouldn't bandy those sort of words around! You never know who is going to get injured.

Someone is paying for it, so is it the best way to spend money on the club? I'm happy with our pre-season programme. Not very glamorous, but I just see this time of you as being about playing physical teams, getting fit and working silly mistakes out of your system before the season starts.

Yes it is free for the football club! If we had turned down the offer from Macron for a sponsored trip to Portugal do you really think they would have said "oh ok, here have the money we were going to spend on it!" 😂

Not just about just being a jolly though is it. It's about team building as well. Players letting their hair down for a couple of days abroad, playing a game out there (all paid for by a club sponsor). Do you think we'd turn that down if MBNA offered to send our squad off to the South of France or Spain for a couple of days and tied it in with a friendly with a local side? Bollocks we would.

You wont see a thread like this on RP as most of our supporters have bigger fish to fry and to be honest see you as a bottom of the table cert but I still think that you will survive and finish a surprising mid table. As for calling Wrexham a dump of a village ..grow up you fool you are making yourself sound silly and as the previous poster stated jealous. For the record the trip to Portugal is a training camp with a match thrown in tonight . I know if I was a footballer that would be a rather nice way to kick off what will be a tough new season for all of us.

Drenched in a pair of jeans that are sodden all the way home and freezing my ar*e off. To be honest, it's all about the actual seaosn though, nobody will remember the fantastic team building in portugal if Wrexham lose their first 3 games. Similar to use in that if we smash teams like Flint, it means nothing. I know i'd rather be in Portugal as a player, but as a fan i'm not arsed, wouldn't be paying good money to fly out to Portugal to watch a few pre-seasons if we ever did get the chance.

And I went to the Deva last Wednesday... our pitch looked fantastic. I'm sorry but the next time I pop down to the Racecourse will be in March. The pitch might not look as good then.
