The excitement of the new season only less than three weeks away. A fair few of us making the easy journey down on the train to enjoy the pre-match delights of Birmingham for this one.
The only question to be asked is 'who's avin it'?

The only question to be asked is 'who's avin it'? I'm definitely 'avin it, whether it is Dover or Torquay on the first day I would definitely be up for it. However, I am really excited for Solihull now. The countdown is on!!

Me and about 15-20 lads on the train, stop in Birmingham on the way. Will have a streamer display for it too. Already got a few away days booked thanks to the virgin sale; Bromley, Dover, Eastleigh, Hartlepool... 🙂

As many of you on here will know I liveabout 10 minutes walk from the ground. My recommendation is go to Bham international station rather than Solihull. There is a bus from there which drops you right outside the ground. A local private hire cab will cost around £7. You can do pretty much the same from solihull station although it means getting a train from new street to Solihull. My experience heading the other way is the arriva trains wales services carry on to international. You do however get more options for food and drink going via Solihull town centre. It's about five minutes walk from the station. Again bus from the town will drop you outside the ground in about ten minutes it is a half hourly service

I'll be driving down. It's 2 hours according AA route planner. Just wondering if there's free parking nearby. Off to nearby Nuneaton afterwards to meet some friends.

If you go over the roundabout next to the ground and turn into a side road on your left. You'll need to go about three turns up as they put cones out in the roads nearby to stop people parking. You'll have about a five minute walk to the ground

Anyone going by train just be aware there's no trains from Chester to Crewe this day. A handful are being diverted but will take an hour.
Can still go direct to International via Shrewsbury though.

According to my journey there are. There’s a few Virgin’s to London but only on the way and they’re being diverted which will take an hour instead of 20 mins. The rest are bus replacement. Line is deffo closed mate. LINK

From international the X12 bus destination Solihull will drop you right outside the ground. Runs every 30 minutes. About a 10 minute journey

Driving to the game, should take about 1hr 30 which is less than a home game. Hopefully a good turnout, but more importantly a good result and some optimism for the season ahead.

I shall be boycotting Solihull this year after my daughter and I were thrown out of their Family Stand for applauding a Chester goal. This was despite there being no segregation in place.

I shall be boycotting Solihull this year after my daughter and I were thrown out of their Family Stand for applauding a Chester goal. This was despite there being no segregation in place. That's a disgrace. I was sat in the same stand for the first half and went mad when we scored, but never got kicked out. To get kicked out when their is no segregation for applauding a Chester goal is ridiculous officiating. You shouldn't let that stop you from going back for the first day of the season Ian, on what should be an enjoyable day out.

There was a large group of us thrown out of that stand too. Unsegregated yet we aren't allowed in one of the stands, okay then...

Also may I add, the prices for teenagers is a disgrace as Solihull. 12 year olds having to pay £10!

On our website it says that it will be segregated next week. That sounds a lot better than last time. Also with around 700+ Chester fans behind the goal, their should be an amazing atmosphere. COYB!

Worst ground I went to last year - hope they have finished building the away terrace, which will at least create a bit of atmosphere. Parking was also tricky and Solihull town centre is soulless...apart from that great. Anyone know any decent pubs within striking distance that don't involve going into the town centre?

The nearest pub without having to go into the town centre is called the Grenville Arms. It is about a 20 minute walk from the ground. There is also a chip shop opposite the pub. The ground is the other side of the roundabout at the end of Damson Lane. If you go to the other end of Damson Lane approx 1 mile away you will find the pub. There is one other pub but that's going to leave you with a 45 minute walk to the ground.
