By worst you mean those who are the most passionate supporters ? If you didn't care then you wouldn't bother commenting - It's disappointing that Mccarthy has brought this up now but as I said we should re-set and judge him and the team by the performances- and not on just 6 games as our classic WUM Whopper suggests we are what we are a small budget fans run club who are surviving in a tough division and for the first time since reformation have the experienced players required to cause a few upsets this year - so let's back the Club Manager and Team to the hilt and stop looking for faults before they have arisenThis. Just to clarify - what I meant by "worst" is that I don't know any other grounds where the players get quite so much barracking if they make a mistake in the first 5 minutes. I appreciate that these fans are passionate, but to me it's just counterproductive to our chances on the pitch, which presumably is what these fans want. By all means, moan to kingdom come at the full time whistle as that won't affect players in the same way as if you get on their back after the first mistake. I agree that we do have some extremely negative supporters. The Harry Mac moaner used to give Rooney pure grief for 90 minutes. Also a few lads on the Mac were giving it Alabi once before a ball had been kicked. But, these people are in the minority and that's not what the manager had said. His comments were an attack on all of us. Last season has gone, and as a support we had all pretty much moved on and were willing to support the new structure. What the manager has done has fuelled the fire when there was really no need. As others have said, I think it's time the board sat him down and asked him to refrain from making comments about the support. |

For me last season's drop in form was due conflict in the dressing room, it is the only thing it could be as with the lack of the follow up on contract renewals for certain players who were told they would be offered new. If there where issues then JM did the right thing and got rid of his problem players.
For me its a clean sheet this season, the team has to gel, got a new assistant and a striker coach on board. They are having a good go at it, time to get behind the team and not ready to put the boot in.

I'm not saying you'd ever go for a beer with half of the people on here and we don't have to agree with each other, but we all have Chester in our blood and I hate seeing good debates like this thread was get derailed by personal snipes. |

You see this is why we need more moderation on here sometimes. A valid (although some might say negative  ) thread about Macca has been reduced into bickering between what I sadly suspect are adults. Some people need to get a grip, or a life, or maybe both. On the subject of the manager, I do see his point about getting rid of the negativity around the club, that's fair enough, it doesn't really breed success in any industry. BUT... firstly he needs to consider the reason for the negativity which was the appalling effort for the second half of the season and the inability to win a home game for 7 months, and for that he needs to take some responsibility. Secondly he would have been wise to keep his comments about the fans to himself given that the signings this summer had actually replaced the negativity with some cautious optimism. He certainly needs to think about how he communicates with the fans (who own the club after all) because if he doesn't have the best start he'll be under so much pressure. |

Yes, I agree broadly with that. Last weeks interview was poor, as was the tail end of last season, but new season brings with it hope. Lets see how JM does from Solihull onwards, try to not be too harsh and get behind the players. Weve an improved playing budget, good ST sales and the result is a decent squad (on paper counts for nothing I know). The chance is there to go amd have a good bash at this table, see how far we go. |
