Biggest mistake the Council made in recent years was in not deciding to go with the proposed out of town student accommodation site.
The whole area around Liverpool Road, Newtown, down to Stadium Way has become one big student site. Every building in the City Centre or around has changed to University owned or Student accommodation.
The more it happens, the stronger the Uni control becomes over the Council. Once permission is granted it can't really be withdrawn easily.
Rant over and breathe.

From the artists impression, that looks like a massive Bus depot. Does it leave enough room for supporters' coaches? That big building (bottom left) might affect the pitch in one corner. You might need heat blowers in winter time with a frost, and sun lamps in the Summer.

I thought the club held the lease on the car park?

Will be interested to hear is the club have any say on it or even if they would get anything out of it, but something like this has always been a risk with the council owning the land.
This part of the car park has been mentioned as a potential site for all weather training pitches, so I don't know if this would scupper any existing plans that the club has.

Are they having a laugh? Imagine the taunts we would get off visiting fans.

Looks like it would use the car park entrance that the club have been trying to use for years without success...

It does say 'The site is currently a vacant brownfield site being a disused area of car parking adjacent to Chester City Football Club’s Deva Stadium.” so is it even part of our land or just next to it?
Maybe we could sub let part of the car park and make something out of it ?

This would have a detrimental effect to the normal matchday and weekend congestion experienced on Bumpers Lane/Greyhound Retail Park etc You've lost many parking spaces judging by artists impression. Parking's crap down Bumpers Lane anyway once the car park is full... Away coaches for your big game depart around the back of the West Stand and are able to leave without any problems. Trying to get out of Bumpers Lane is awful.

The parking situation is bad enough as it stands with gates of 2000, what the hell will it be like for games and big games, let alone if we want to expand and get a community hub centre that the land was tipped for with 5 aside pitches on.
The club is meant to be trying to move forward.

Here we go another Deva Chat meltdown over a story in the local paper, just because the bus company would like to use the land doesn't mean they will get planing permission to go ahead lets just get back to footballmaters and let the local press get on with trying to sell newspapers by spreading rumours.

Unless the club benefits financially i'm not sure I'm a fan of this. Saying that it would make a lot of sense for them to run a bus service from town to the ground and back on match-days, which would be handy!
If it went ahead I highly doubt the council allow for it to reduce the number of spaces pre-existing in the car park, as that would be unfair on us. Also, judging by the scale of the artist impression it looks like they would expand into the adjoining field?
It would certainly bring the chant 'You're just a bus stop in Chester' to a whole new meaning haha

Looking at it from a different angle (and you can probably tell I'm a non-driver here) could it be a positive thing having a bus stopping right outside the ground? One of the toughest challenges we have as a club is that we're so isolated from the city centre. A convenient bus service might just make a trip to the Deva seem more like a day out and less of a chore, perhaps getting more people to have a pint in the Blues Bar?
Let's face it the Deva is a bitch to get to without a car - one of the hardest grounds going to reach by public transport. Plus it always strikes me that there are plenty of places to park on or around Bumpers Lane and, unless you can't walk far or are just really lazy, I don't really get why you'd bother with the club car park anyway.

I know plannning permission from both council will be required, but what worries me more is that there is nothing stopping other companies submitting plans to redevelop he whole site.
I'd like to think that the Council would reject any such plans in the interests of fans, but there are fewer of us these days and we all know that money talks.
If anything, this should act as a reminder that whilst we own our club, we are still vulnerable because we don't own our land.

Very rare that car park is full. Better transport links to the ground could be a bonus. Better transport links could bring more money in than the spaces we lose. Let's wait and see

I don't think the depot would be for public use, it's simply a place for Stagecoach to park their coaches when not in use. So unless I'm mistaken, I can't see them being very keen to ferry football fans back and too.

Unused?! Piss off!
This seriously jeopardises any future expansion however far that may be down the line. Given that the club hold the lease, is this something that the club are in discussions about? Is it a mutual suggestion between the club and Stagecoach? What about plans for a 3G pitch and community hub?
Edit: As MPW says this proposal is for a bus depot (storage of empty buses etc) rather than a station/stop so probably won't improve transport links for non-drivers at all unless we could write something into any deal.

Providing it does not take too many car parking spaces currently used by CFC, I think it will offer a great opportunity to request that the council insert a clause into the planning permission to insist on return journey match day buses from Railway Station/Bus Exchange at a reasonably cheap faire. Stagecoach will not want the club to object to their application, so providing matchday buses would be a wothwhile compromise to achieve their aims. There is plenty of parking near the ground, when I had a car I used to park on the Greyhound to avoid queues, but walking is a real drag 45 mins to the arse end of town, so a bus to the Deva would be a real boost.

The planning application (ref 057220) was made valid by Flintshire County Council on 7th July and can be viewed on its website. Comments can be made online by 15 August. The application form states that this area of the car park was disused/vacant on 1.6.2017 . As legally required , CWAC was notified as it is the landowner.

It would certainly jeopardise future plans for a 3g training/multi-use pitch to be installed in the car-park that's for sure..

Unused???
What a load of shit.
Club need to tell us whether we are involved in this or not. If the club won't benefit financially from this then we HAVE to fight it.
Remember the chaos that ensued when the circus came to town? Well think of that - every home game!
When we all talked about developing the ground and the land around the stadium this is NOT what I had in mind!

I've just objected to the application on-line on the grounds that it is a well used community facility and loss of off-street parking amenity would add to the congestion on already dangerously over-crowded adjacent roads. I urge other Blues fans to do the same.

Reading the replys if it is just a depot it really doesnt make sense so I think I may object.
On a positive note this could be a PR disaster for stagecoach taking over a community resourse as a result they may have to off set any negativity i.e. sponsorship around the ground, naming rights, build us a 3G pitch, free buses for fans and players to away games.
You never know, I would love to be part of the discussions.
