our club only found out this morning utter shambles it's a cant be arsed attitude from solihull This is a disgrace and why did the council wait until 7.30pm last night to inform Solihull ? i would expect quite a few to have bought non refundable train tickets as well so they need refunding. Anyway there is a bit of light at the end of the tunnel you can all pop down to the racecourse ground ( if there is room ) and watch the mighty Wrexham win their first game , Macclesfield is your second team isn't it ? and for those who have never been before marvel at the size of our floodlights !!

I booked my tickets on train line and paid the £1 insurance on them which means I am ok for a refund., learned my lesson a few years ago. If people bought advanced tickets some may be transferable if they contact the station where they bought them. I am going to have a day out and watch fylde see what they are like

Tinpot f@@king club, shit ground,no fans, should be in the league below. Solihull aren't much better either You can come down the road and see what a crowd looks like, although I'm sure there's some croquet or rugger you can watch nearer home

On the bright side, we will be among the unbeaten teams after game 1. Haven't been able to say that for a few years

Always happens to us, this sort of thing doesn't it? Although traditionally, it usually tends to be our fault, so at least this is a nice change!
Farcical situation on the eve of the season, and no excuse for it at this level. Feel sorry for those who had made plans.

On the bright side, we will be among the unbeaten teams after game 1. Haven't been able to say that for a few years I think it's more upsetting that it's the first game of the season. If it was mid season, we'd be angry don't get me wrong, but it's worse when you're buzzing for the new season and get shut down a day before. Tomorrow will be very dull indeed, might just settle for a bit of Sky Sports HQ and watch Macc's goals pour in.

Solihull seem to be a continual pain in the backside, from ruining the best chance we'll probably ever have to finish a season unbeaten at home (2012-13), to being lumbered with them as our Christmas 'derby' last season and seeing our season start to fall apart in those games and then to this absolutely farcical situation now.

The Cirque du Solihull strikes again!

Absolute shambles. Got to be a 3 point deduction and a fine for this.

Is it just me that thinks we've been guilty of messing the whole league about before now during the last stages of the Vaughan regime with not being able to field a side to play games etc and Solihull are just making their best efforts up to the eleventh hour to get the game on. They will have realised that they had a belting opening game cashflow-wise and are guilty of really trying to make it happen. Unfortunately, it's turned into a financial disaster for them instead.
I'm not happy but a little part of me is sympathetic to their plight.
I'll now put my tin hat on. Ouch!!

Got an awful feeling it will be a nominal fine and, the ultimate copout, a "warning" re. future incidents.
Until this sort of thing is punished hard then it will happen again and again

Bloody typical, how the National League left it so late is just baffling!
I'd also like to know how Solihull have held home friendlies as recent as Tuesday vs WBA if their stadium is deemed unsafe?

To be honest I worry for Solihull a bit. This is the sort of thing that used to happen to us in the dark days. Smacks of people not doing their job and all not being well.
Not happy at being the victims of it, but can't help but think back at how many times we've felt a bit embarrassed by our club's behaviour. Hopefully Solihull will sort themselves out.
Edit: Just realised Saltneyblueboy said pretty much the same thing about half an hour ago.

Quite surprised how little coverage this news is getting. Pretty serious for an opening day game to be called off because a team hasn't sorted their ground out, but even on the BBC National League page, the main story is Maidstone signing some lad from Colchester.

Must assume it wasn't postponed sooner as Solihull asked the league for every last chance to resolve the safety issue, assuring it could be resolved, then failed to do so. I'd be absolutely shocked if Solihull agree to cover the cost of booked train tickets. Train tickets can be 'refunded up to 10pm tonight.

this is from there forum
This has nothing to do with stands, gates, toilet or anything like that. Nothing is unsafe at the ground, let me stress that. This is all down to the current board of directors not following correct policies and procedures even though they were given ample opportunity. They were told late last night to sort it out otherwise the match would be postponed , yet our directors decided to do nothing.
This clearly shows we need a BOD who can run a football club properly to stop instances like this happening which make the football club look extremely silly.

The Conference should just give us the three points and call it a five nil win.

I think the Warrington game in 2010/11 was everyone else's second game of the season. We sat out the first weekend because there was an odd number of teams in the division after we joined it.

Surely we should be rewarded with a 3-0 win if that reason is true.
