Excuse my language but what an absolute fucking joke. Hundreds of us booked train tickets. They've had months to sort out any issues? What an unbelievably tinpot club. Deserve some sort of punishment, and to reimburse the fans who have paid for travel.

why can't they switch it to home tie? No chance with 24 hours notice . . . have to sort bar, programmes, catering, volunteers, etc. Probably could have been done a week ago. Hope the league throw the book at Solihull . . . eagerly await what they have to say.

From the Solihull website. Disgrace they've put up a statement released by the league, then explicitly refused to comment any further.
The National League this afternoon publishes a statement to confirm the steps taken. "Further to a decision of the home club's local safety authority, it has been necessary for the opening day fixture match between Solihull Moors and Chester to be postponed. "The Solihull Safety Advisory Group, who oversee the licensing of the stadium, has clarified that spectators cannot be admitted to the ground until such time as required safety systems are in place. "Arrangements are in hand to urgently deal with this matter, but it is felt the only appropriate decision available to The National League is to postpone the fixture and rearrange it for later in the season." There will be no further comment from the football club at this moment in time.

So clubs wanting to get promoted to the National League have to have a certificate in place in the March before the end of the season. How is a member club not in possession of such safety certificate 24 hours before the kick off of a new season? So glad that I haven't booked flights !

Absolute embarrassment. Was obvious going there last season that Solihull is a club out of its depth. Hope efforts will be made to seek reimbursement for costs to our club and fans. A points deduction is in order IMO. They've had all Summer to sort out their shabby llittle ground or arrange to play the game elsewhere.

Must assume it wasn't postponed sooner as Solihull asked the league for every last chance to resolve the safety issue, assuring it could be resolved, then failed to do so. I'd be absolutely shocked if Solihull agree to cover the cost of booked train tickets.

Wow, this is really really poor at this level. I think all points should be forfeited until they get it resolved. How is it fair that we now play Fylde as our opener on the Tuesday knowing they've had the opportunity to play a full 90 minutes of competitive football. I'd be calling for the 3 points personally.

As the shambles continues, they have followed up on "no further comment at this moment in time" with many further comments from the manager. To be fair they did say "at this moment in time" and it's a good 10-15 minutes later. Like everybody involved with both Solihull Moors and Chester, I am bitterly disappointed to have our season opener cancelled and share the frustration of all supporters. The club were only made aware of this issue by Solihull Council at 7.30pm last night before postponement was enforced on us earlier today and we’ve been asked by The National League not to elaborate on the statement that has been issued.. After an impressive pre-season, we were all hoping to carry that positive momentum into the new campaign and we all hope this issue will be resolved in the very near future. Professionally, we now have to immediately look to Leyton Orient away on Tuesday night and our full focus is ensuring our delayed start to the season is a positive one. I now hope to see plenty of Moors supporters make that trip to London and back the lads against one of the title favourites. As you may have seen on the club’s website, I was due to do a Facebook Live Q&A with fans today. However, given circumstances we didn’t feel it was appropriate to continue but I look forward to hosting more across the course of the season. www.solihullmoorsfc.co.uk/news/details.php?news_id=12791

31 Penalty for Non-Fulfilment of Fixture Obligations
31.1 Any Club failing to fulfil its fixture obligations in respect of any match under the jurisdiction of The League on the appointed date or dates or causing The League to suspend any fixture shall be deemed guilty of misconduct, unless the circumstances giving rise to such failure are outside the control of the Club and could not have been reasonably foreseen or reasonably anticipated and remedied prior to the match. Every Club shall carry out regular and appropriate maintenance and checks to ensure that its safety certificate is not suspended or withdrawn.
31.2 The Club failing to fulfil its fixture or causing The League to suspend such fixture shall be liable to pay compensation for any expenses actually incurred by the opposing Club as a direct result of the failure or suspension. The amount of compensation will be at the discretion of the Board who will consider every such case on its merits. The Board may refer the amount of compensation to be paid to the Disciplinary Commission dealing with the misconduct by the Club failing to fulfil its fixture or causing The League to suspend the same.
This is EFL, trying to find national league equivalent.

This is farcical and an absolute shambles. Solihull would have been well aware they did not have the required safety certificate and given that they knew this was going to be an issue why did they not request the fixture to be flipped.
Given that they have played home pre season games i can only assume that they did not have a safety certificate in place to cover all parts of the stadium. It could be that the new terrace was not covered by the safety certificate and with this not being in place then the police would not agree to the large number of expected Chester fans being allowed into an unsegregated stadium.

Found it, 8.37 of national league standard fines
£2,500 - £10,000 plus 3 points deducted and cover and away team costs. Board will consider expulsion.
Obviously dependng on how they view the severity of the situation regards level of fine, whether they deduct 3 points, obviously expulsion is only for most serious cases - like chester city!

I cant see them getting expelled. Theyll sort the ground out for the next home game. Financially it will cost them though. Free entry to Chester for the rearranged game would be a start in terms of goodwill.

The away terrace was perfectly usable last season when we played there before Christmas but we were told they were waiting for safety paperwork. So frustrating that nothing teams like this are allowed to progress to fifth tier. Makes the whole league look amateurish. It's little consolation that it will hit them in the pocket - doubt we will take more than 150 for the rearranged game midweek, so that's just cost them about 9k in lost revenue from us alone, not to mention beer sales etc.
