our club only found out this morning utter shambles it's a cant be arsed attitude from solihull This is a disgrace and why did the council wait until 7.30pm last night to inform Solihull ? i would expect quite a few to have bought non refundable train tickets as well so they need refunding. Anyway there is a bit of light at the end of the tunnel you can all pop down to the racecourse ground ( if there is room ) and watch the mighty Wrexham win their first game , Macclesfield is your second team isn't it ? and for those who have never been before marvel at the size of our floodlights !! I bought my train tickets a few weeks ago. Unrefundable. Money down the drain. Months of anticipation to postponement and a complete farce the night before the match was due to take place.

Does anyone think it would be appropriate to withdraw the usual hospitality to Solihull directors when they attend the home game. I'm still seething about their incompetence and apparent cavalier attitude to this whole mess. How did they let it get to that stage? First game of the season and they've ruined it for hundreds of Chester fans.

My brain has gone blank - I can only remember 2009/10 when our season was delayed. What was the other one? I think the Warrington game in 2010/11 was everyone else's second game of the season. We sat out the first weekend because there was an odd number of teams in the division after we joined it. I think we were originally down to play Prescot Cables at home but it was postponed as they had an FA Cup qualifying round replay to play the day afterwards.

Gutted, been looking forward to this for weeks. Night game for 1st one of the season just isn't the same. going to the pub to drown my sorrows What a complete and utter farce Bitterly disappointed Indeed shocking Richard - apart from the money spent on train tickets which were non refundable for some of our fans I am also concerned about how it will disrupt our preparation going into a game on Tuesday against a decent side who have already played a competative game, all our preparations will have been around Solihul - I believe we should be awarded the 3 points

That's correct, but Prescot was just going to be first home game, not our season opener, so that wasn't what delayed the start of the season. We kicked our season off on Tuesday, August 24 at Warrington when everyone else had already played the Saturday before. It was because there were 23 teams in the division and someone had to sit out the first weekend, and since we'd joined the league quite late it was fair enough that it was us.

In fact I'm almost certain JM will take this opportunity to go and watch Fylde play today and study it a lot before the game on Tuesday. Not to mention he will have already watched them play before with them being newly promoted I would suspect. Despite the question marks over JM, we can't know his preparation and work ethic it's always very good.

Solihull should be heavily punished for this farce, 3points deduction and a £20,000 fine should be the minimum ! Why do the Conference officials let clubs in with grounds not up to standard ? I know they were relegated but North Ferriby and Braintree were shocking grounds not up to scratch , Guiseley is not up to the mark either ! We as a club always seem to be spending on our ground and having capacity restricted yet the Deva must be one of best grounds in the division ! This rule that you can be promoted with a crap ground and have a couple of seasons to do it is nonsense , either its good enough or its not !

Darlington and a couple of teams from the Conference South were not allowed to play in the playoffs last season because their grounds were deemed not up to standard.

paperwork error apparently they knew on monday they had to sort it council gave them till 5pm on thursday which by then solihull ignored and thought they could get away with it council informed them 7.30 thursday night they had to call the game off same issue with a stand has happened before when due to play us
Mark Maguire had to hold his anger back in his interview yesterday but trust me he's fuming as he only found out via the league and not solihull

Makes matters even worse. No doubt they will get a slap on the wrist and a derisory fine. These rogue clubs need to be dealt with properly or it just goes on happening.

The least they should do is allow free entry for those who had booked train tickets.

Yes we were out played all over the place for quite a bit of the game but 45 more games to go. One thing is certain after watching the Sutton game on tv this league is as hard as ever to get out of.

The least they should do is allow free entry for those who had booked train tickets. Wouldn't work that as most people have been refunded but out of pocket by a tenner cos of the admin charge. Either let everyone in for free or boycott the game.

They will be investigating it thoroughly as we speak: Solihull have probably been told to keep quiet as not to create rumours and 'fake news'. The reason could be something simple like a 'dodgy fax machine'

The line about no further comment being made absolutely winds me up. No apology, no explanation, nothing.
I cant help but think that if this was us or Wxm we would have been hung out to dry by the authorities. They seem to be more forgiving of non supporter run clubs..

How much money has CFC lost because of this farce? Was a cancellation fee levied for the team coach, wasted pre-match meal costs etc? If there was the club should sue Solihull if payment isn't provided with 14 days.

rearranged for 5th september

rearranged for 5th september Club requested 26th Sept but league refused according to club website A date for the rearranged fixture against Solihull Moors has been set by the league as Tuesday 5th September. Chester FC requested that consideration be given to arrange the match for Tuesday 26th September to which Solihull agreed. Our reasons for this request were based upon the travelling involved for fans and players either side of the other potential dates. However, as this date falls out of the regulation 42 days the request has been turned down. We are disappointed that the date chosen follows a long trip to Torquay on Saturday but will do all we can to prepare appropriately and will continue to work to assist the considerable number of fans who were affected by the original postponement. Further announcements in that regard will be made in due course.

Meh, just get the game played and stop quibbling I think. We need to adopt a positive attitude here and stop feeling sorry for ourselves over it.

Seems only fair that if we want three points then we have to play for them. Any points or winning margin awarded otherwise could prove unfair to others or even Chester themselves in respect of goal difference. However, a breach in regulations has occurred so what is the outcome in regard to punishing Solihull. Fines and points deductions? If not resolved yet, why the delay?
