That game today sounds very like a game I saw at Rochdale 10 years ago shortly after Bobby Williamson took over, when we were dreadful in the first-half and lucky to only be 1-0 down before performing much better in the second half to win 2-1 late on. That game was the springboard to an excellent first half of the season that year and I'd like to think today's match might just get this season going. Might be simplifying things somewhat given our wretched home form in recent months that still needs resolving, but sometimes a game like today's can mark a turning point. I remember Ellison's last minute goal vividly, the away end exploded. It's so important we beat Macclesfield now, we've hopefully given ourselves a springboard to go and do just that.

Nobody gave the Irishman a chance against what was considered to be a flashier and more technical counterpart. For the earlier part of the contest the blows reigned in and it was only a matter of time before the killer blow was delivered. It came but miracously the (Northern) Irish man with the sound bites and confidence got up and rode the storm before getting on an even footing in the contest.
Then from nowhere the killer blow was delivered late in the contest by the man no one gave a chance!

Well done blues, brilliant result against all the odds, hope this shuts the serial whingers up for bit, but I doubt it, they have no class. No one deserves the vile rhetoric of some. Yes performances have been in part poor and tactics mind numbing but the attitude of several on here has been well ott. Was never going to be easy or pretty away against a team at the top of the table, but despite having no forwards in second half we seem to have come up with tactics and performance to sneak a win. Well done all, particularly those who made the effort to stick with the team and travel.

With a game in hand Rio.
Like I said all last week, when we get it down and work the ball we look a good side. We outclassed Sutton for that 30 min period, we matched a good footballing Fylde first half, now we've turned it on away at Aldershot and won it.
Got to build on this now, please no more of this sitting back rubbish, we play football for 90min we will turn some of these teams over and the fans will love it.
Hope we have at least one fit striker for Monday now, twitter said it looked like Ak went off with an injury

So pleased with this result not least that it may, for a brief period, keep the abusive, negative, and pessimistic moaners quiet. Free speech doesn't mean personal abuse to management and players is OK. It isn't. Never. No excuses.

Ake was injured, I think that could be 3/4 strikers that 100% won't be available for Monday. Bell is possible?
Imagine what this team could actually do if they played from the start. The defensive approach doesn't suit us, were very reactive, instead of active. We have a grudge match Monday, Lloyd and Duzza will want to play well no doubt about it. We have a few of theirs too. A win against Macc and we could be looking at 3 on the bounce! Dare I say it.

Post more later, but the summary is:
1st half - Beyond terrible. 2nd half - Proper away performance.
Credit to Chapell as well, made a big difference.
Trip home now but bloody chuffed!!

Let's enjoy the result but not get carried away. Could have been a completely different story had it not been for the woodwork. Still, that doesn't matter, final result shows we hit the onion bag more times than Aldershot overall. Got to follow this up with a win on Monday now. Well done to the players for grinding it out.

Jesus Riot, just give it a rest with these predictions. You've never got one right!
How the hell are we going to score twice? If we score one it'll be a backs to the wall job for the rest of the game!
Be careful what you write next time mate haha 😉 2️⃣-1️⃣. 😂😂😂😂💩

I had a feeling we'd win today as it's the sort of thing that happens with us (see Braintree, Torquay last season) and was going to use that free matched £30 bet to back us at 15/1 but this new MyClubBetting thing we've partnered with was very erratic this afternoon and essentially I just left it. Anyway, fantastic character to get that result given the circumstances of top v bottom, their incredible home record, our terrible form and losing all of our forward to injury. Superb.
However, we've got to build on this now on Monday and get the home monkey off our backs to start some run of positive results going. There's a real danger that this result can just mimick the aforementioned Braintree, Torquay results. If so, then nothing has changed for me in terms of the manager. Monday is huge now. What I don't want to see is an excuse that today's game was written off so he's exceeding his little block of matches target and we revert back to type for the next couple of games. Could still go that way.
Anyway, great result today. Let's kick on.

Excellent win that but we must start games with our intention of actually winning games and not just to stop the opposition. Looking forward to Monday now.

Akintunde did his hamstring early 1st half but played on until halftime, not a wise move imo.
So that's 3 of our 4 strikers out with muscle problems!
Surely we've got to bring in an emergency striker on loan now???

With regards to McCarthy I'm sure he'll rightly enjoy the victory and can point to 4 points from 2 tough away games (of course we have ridden our luck hugely at times in both games) but ultimately if we don't pick up a result Monday then the pressure will return. I don't really think too many fans attending home games can be blamed for this since we haven't won at home in 2017.
We can go into Monday with more belief after today though. We could really do with some positive news on the injury front somehow in the next 48 hours though. Surely only Chester could sign 3 new strikers (and Akitunde feels like a new signing) then lose them all to injury after a mere 5 games!!

Aldershot are something of a soft touch for us. They haven't beaten us since that bizzare game about 3 season's ago when the referee gave a goal kick after Mahon rounded their GK and was hauled down. We lost that game when we should have started the 2nd half 1-0 up against 10 men. These things do have a habit of evening out.
Btw well done Rio for a rare correct prediction. I think you should stick to predicting away games only.

Alabi was booed off for Tranmere today. Grass isn't always greener! I think we could use a quick loan deal if we can't get anyone fit in time. Bell could have to play, although I think it would be brave knowing one bad collision and he could lose his front teeth.

Give him 10 games then let's review. You may be right that he has to go but relax a bit
