This season's a clean slate? ok then I want a £324 refund from last season. Would the current Board be so much up McCarthy's arse if they abandoned their Suits, Club Ties, Agendas and Visitor passes and reverted back to a paying fan? All this Board bashing gets right on my nerves. Why do some people assume they sit on their hands doing nothing? Do you know what goes on behind closed doors? Do you really expect them to reveal whether they back JM or not? Bloody hell, it's not X-Factor!

In the absence of an announcement of his dismissal or optimistically resignation, I don’t think anyone really expects any striking revelations, and nor should they, on the future of JM emanating from the Club at this time. But unfortunately, the lack of direct communication to the fan base from the board itself, ( via the chairman) to at the very least acknowledge the obvious concerns doesn’t really help.

What aa load of utter sh1t in other words the board and CEO know they have made a major mistake with the 2 year contract and are unwilling to take the necessary action to put it right. it is our club Mark Maguire do what needs to be done before this season is ruined grow some fecking balls and stop trying to sweat talk us and brushing over the fact that JM has no clue as a manager. Seriously if that's all we can expect we are heading for the conference north.

So positive results against Torquay United and Solihull Moors are our way forward and JM has turned our season around ? what a fecking joke. A couple of bad results at home really ? but we have a great opportunity over the next view weeks ? jesus its worse than I thought if they are relying on results from Torquay United and Solihull Moors to keep JM in his job.

Would the current Board be so much up McCarthy's arse if they abandoned their Suits, Club Ties, Agendas and Visitor passes and reverted back to a paying fan? This really is deeply unfair and ignorant. I am all for criticism of the manager and even the board when appropriate but board members ARE paying fans - they all pay for entry just like you and me. The difference is that they put a huge amount of their time and effort, unpaid, into this football club on OUR behalf. It's an absolutely thankless task and they have to put up with comments like that to make it all the more rewarding.

"Period" what sort of claptrap is that Richard. I don't think you mean an occurrence of menstruation, so perhaps you just feel like attempting a superior power statement. How are you so sure the board are not allowing Maguire to rule the roost? Other than a circumstance not made public to the fans(in this case the owners), any other manager at any other club would be long gone. Let's have a direct statement of denial from any of the board members to deny Maguire's real power. Let me guess, isn't it about now that you come out with the famous bit about "if you think you can do better why don't you stand for election?" Stick with it though, and I hope you enjoy the National North. Calm down rcb. As I said to Trev, I can only say it as I find it. In my dealings with Mark as a volunteer, he has never remotely come across as someone who seeks power. Quite the opposite in fact, he has a genuine passion for our model and is both supportive and respectful of the directors of the club. And what did he do at his previous clubs? What happened to them and how happy were their supporters?

I understand why people are sensitive to fans criticising the board, at the end of the day they do so much to keep the club going.
However, it must be realised that supporters like me don't have an agenda against JM - we just firmly believe he's taking us down. We've seen enough. Therefore, it's very troubling to see our board continue backing him calamity after calamity. Naturally, their judgement is going to be called in to question - and quite rightly. If they get this wrong (which I think are doing), the impact will be severe.

Criticism of the board is fine and most people can do it sensibly, but some seem to adopt an 'us and them' attitude that gets us nowhere. When I see posts claiming the board think everything fine and they're laughing at us, I find it embarrassing. Nobody is enjoying the situation, they just have different ways of dealing with it and those representing the club in an official capacity need to be more diplomatic than most of us are on supporter forums. Something all fans should consider is that whether you like the board or not, YOU have allowed it to get the way it is. We started in 2010 with a clean slate.

Looks like The board, Mark maguire, coaching and playing staff see things different from us...I want him gone like most of us but I guess the people I listed above are hoping it will come together and turn it around as that way we'll have a decent season and no pay off for a sacked manager so everyone wins. In reality it's awful stuff at the moment and he unfortunately won't turn it around in my opinion

Unbelievable. I'm watching the club I've supported for 55 years have it's heart ripped out by the failures of a silent board, and Richard tells me to calm down. It's like an Enid Blyton story, only this isn't fiction. "The Secret Seven" "The Secret Seven Society consists of Peter, his sister Janet, and their friends Jack, Colin, George, Pam and Barbara. Although not an official member of the Secret Seven, Peter and Janet's golden spaniel Scamper also attends meetings. After all, he can be trusted not to give away any secrets to Jack's interfering sister Susie!" Are you really Scamper Richard? Why do I feel totally in the dark and of no importance to this club? It's like there is an secret agenda going on here, and only the board and the puppet master are in on the secret. The rest of us may as well be called Susie! Good grief, that is an unusual post. Look, we don't agree, but I'm not trying to wind you up rcb. I'm a 50 year plus supporter too and if you think I don't hurt when we lose all those home games you are sorely mistaken. I'm genuinely sorry that you feel of no importance to the club. Nobody would want that and nobody is deliberately setting out to keep you or any fan in the dark. My apologies if I have offended you.

I'll back Richard up on his comments in this thread. MM is employed by the Board to run the day to day business of the club. Don't shout Richard down because you'd rather believe something different. We're are all frustrated by the on the field results, and afraid of the consequences. MM has come out and made this statement, presumably after contact with the Board, as a reponse to the final whistle reaction from the crowd. Yes, maybe the Chairman should make a statement, but maybe MM is more eloquent and comfortable doing it. Maybe he was asked to. The CEO (MM) should publicly support JMc. Anything else would be poor, and could lead us to a possible constructive dismissal case. The fact that we've now had this interview shows the club is aware of the supporters feelings. The Board are supporters too. You would expect at least some of them to agree with our views. The next CFU meeting is on October 5th. Unless results and performances change on the pitch you'd expect something to happen before that. If not, it would be an interesting meeting! I am sorry if you feel Richard was being unfairly treated but he has come on here to support MM and the board, and as we all know he feels Jon McCarthy should not be removed due the to professionalism and positivity which JM brings to the club . I am concerned that board members, including the Chairman have not felt fit to communicate to the fan base directly in respect of its position at this time . Instead leaving MM, suspected by some as being instrumental in McCarthy’s contract extension, to publically defend the manager’s position which many consider to be indefensible. This is all rather disappointing given that this is a fans run club with an elected Board. Wasn't having a go at you. Just felt that Richard was telling how it was, and getting grief for it from some posters. He wasn't giving his opinion, but giving the facts. For what it's worth I agree with you regarding the lack of comment and support, or otherwise, from the Board and especially the Chairman. Is that because the Chairman is only temporary until the AGM? Jonny you've got the gig, you need to do something too. I suspect the Board asked MM to do the statement, on their behalf. Maybe they are delaying everything until after the AGM on October 5th. There's some good people on the Board who care about the club. They will be as concerned as the rest of us. Not sure how many on there are used to hiring and firing people though. If everything is on hold until after the AGM, don't expect a quick decision after it either. It would take at least a couple of weeks or more, to allocate responsibility and plan. It might be unfair on the new members to have to find a new manager in their first week.

I agree with others. This is unfair blueistheclour. I served on the Board for several years and along with my fellow Board members I bought my season ticket; car park pass; cfu membership; seals lottery; squad builder; 50/50 tickets;£ a goal; small change box and a programme sponsorship each season. Most days when at the Club I would be in casual clothes or in my scruff if helping John Needham out. I am not hung up on suits but it is the norm at present in Football Clubs that Directors wear suits, shirts and ties, especially when on Away Director Duty visiting other Clubs. It's done as a sign of respect both for our Club and those that we visited, nothing more, nothing less. I stood down in the end because I had done my bit but I know others who had had enough of the sniping comments like yours. So, keep up the good work my fellow supporter and perhaps one day, who knows, you will drive all the volunteers away

I wonder how long our club would survive if we changed those on the board now, with the most prominent DC posters? I bet we wouldn't make it to next season, before we became in trouble financially .

Interesting observations and a little worrying, particularly when you contrast this (perhaps unfairly) with the dynamic Boards just after reforming and more recently the brave decision in removing Steve Burr. Assuming the worst over the next three games, I am really worried that this potential for dithering and delay will prove to be very damaging. I know its easy as an ordinarily fan to say, and can imagine how difficult this may be , but having been elected, board members now need to collectively step up and publically be seen to take responsibility as this is a critical moment for the future of the club. The longer the delay in removing McCarthy will inevitably reduce the chances of appointing a successful replacement.

Delaying it has already meant we have lost out on a Bignot, who was the most popular choice for his replacement. (From a poll, clear winner)

He came across as a straight thinking business man, who wouldn't be afraid to make a decision. It was interesting to note he offered the Board his help just before the end of the season. They declined the offer. He posted as much on here. I wonder whether he felt the same as us, and felt the Board might need some help in changing the manager. I may be wrong in my thinking, but it does make you wonder.
