Given the reaction many things get on Devachat (pie-gate etc) i am surprised more hasn't been made about this situation . Last few games I have paid the privilege for women's darts , road cycling and horse racing . Not exactly sure the justification of the pound entry is with ever decreasing numbers in there before games

If I was a Chester supporter and thankfully I'm not, then I would make a bee line for the Cross Keys on LBS for a decent pint

I rarely go in there anymore.....don'the they have BT Sport anymore? Same here, must be about 3 seasons since I went in there. £1 to spend 20 mins queuing at the bar and then be squashed in like a sardine whilst trying to have a drink. End up spilling most of it trying the wrestle my way from the bar.

I think think it's time to do away with the £1 entry tbh. That said we didn't pay before the Wrexham match anyway.

By the sound of things nobody goes in there anymore, so you should get served pretty quickly and be able to retain a fair amount in your glass coming away from the bar.

Wonder if the club plan to broadcast the game in the Blues Bar. 1,000 people paying a quid instead of £18 - standing room only.

The £1.00 entry is pretty standard at most clubs. The BB only has B.T rather than Sky Sports but I don't begrudge paying a pound to go in, all adds to the coffers. In fact I often ask why no-one is on the door at certain games and the answer is normally don't have a volunteer. I'm guessing the club must make about £50-£100 a game so it's a fair wack to lose out on over a season.

Don't normally go in the Blues Bar on match days but I'm glad to hear we're not giving Rupert Murdoch any of our hard earned money.

I've done every ground in conference bar Maidstone and Sutton and can't remember paying to get in any social club at the grounds, same in the football leagues

Certainly isn't standard.

we always use the blues bar and have no problem paying a quid as it benefits the club , its a pity we don't have the funds to extend the facility as i am sure it can be a profitable asset .

you want free entry into the blues bar, reduced prices on the gate, and free match day parking, that's fine if you want to watch us play in the evo stik league, seriously we are a fan owned club and need every penny we can get, the biggest problem we face as a fan owned club is unfortunately we have the scroogiest fan base in the country who want everthing for nowt. Ebeneezers !

^ Exactly! I can't believe 50/0 tickets aren't free and give the fans a chance of winning some free cash.
On the price of entry apologies I should have been more specific. I meant clubs as in working mens clubs / british legion etc where you have to pay for entry. Didn't necessarily mean football clubs. Although again I wouldn't begrudge paying £1.00 on away days if I decided to drink in the team's social club.

Fleecing them and asking for a pound for the pleasure of using the club bar is quite frankly taking the piss.

But if you want to put some money into Jon McCarthy's coffers, you can try the SQUADbuilder.

Ebeneezers ! the trouble is its fleecing the same fans week in week out and alot are getting sick of it,the main money maker and match day is food and drink, and guess what our club is that thick theres no food on offer in the blues bar, even if they sold sandwiches /rolls,it's money, why isn't the bar open at half time, even if it was just for people in the main stand,Boreham wood do it

They often sell discounted left over pies in the BB after games.

If that was true, why don't they charge post-match? The pre-match charge, which has been in place for as long as I can remember (SV days), has generally existed because the footfall is usually higher after the game than before the game.
