In fairness, 3 minutes ahead of Sychdyn Blue's demands of yesterday.
You can't say that the Board aren't proactive :-)

Thank you for all your hard work Jon. Effort wasn't lacking both as manager and the community side but it just wasn't working.

The only decision that could of been made. I have no doubt he tried his best but just simply wasn't good enough. Big decision the next one who replaces him. Got to get that right. In the meantime, get down there Sat, give the lads all your support and let's get that home win.

Had to happen. Who do we get to replace him? Hopefully we've learned our lesson, and don't get carried away when Tom Shaw gets us our 1st home win of the year on Saturday. We need someone with experience to come in now, and get the best out of the players we've got.

The right decision and he is to be thanked for his efforts. As for the next manager, I hope the board have been drawing up a shortlist already. I don't want to see a job application process like last time, where there was lots of criteria about the community side of things etc. This is being taken care of by the excellent work being carried out by others. We need to get a proper football manager, pure and simple.

Sadly this was inevitable, whilst the role of bringing success to the first team has been beyond Jon, I thank him for all his hard work on behalf of our club. To those who foul mouth him, shame on you, yes he failed but no one deserves the mouth frothing reactions of some. Who will you turn your nastiness on next. Me perhaps!!

Gutted for Jon McCarthy. I really honestly believe he was striving to get us to a better place, he just got found lacking tactically. I really hoped that he would do well for us as he was a genuinely nice character but it simply didn't work out.
Good luck with whatever you do in the future.

Thanks goodness for that! I left the last home game hoping that I would never have to see him clapping like a seal in the technical area again and thankfully that's been delivered. It's time for us to get behind the team and trust that the right man can be brought in to rescue our season. There's still a lot of games and plenty of time for us to turn it into a success. Decent bloke or not, he wasn't up to the job as Chester manager. He should be thanked for his work establishing the trust and his work in the community. Hopefully he can successfully pursue that aspect elsewhere as his talents clearly lie in that domain.

The only decision that could be made. The club have been patient and the past three performances have shown that there was never going to be an upturn in form.
I just hope everyone who cares about the club gets down to the Deva and supports the club. It's likely the sacking will cost the club £50k so much needed revenue is required. The vast majority got what they wanted and now it's time to galvanise on Saturday.

I'm happy that we have all been put out of our misery as our form this year has been terrrible. However, I must thank Jon for his commitment to the club over the past 3 years as he does love the club. He's a nice guy and I hope that he can get back into football quickly. At least we can all feel refreshed and look forward to Ebbsfleet now. All the best Jon.

I will never engage in some of the personal abuse which I have read here directed at Jon. No matter how poor the results have been, and they and the performances have been dire, it is always sad for all concerned when the time comes for a parting of the ways. I, like many others here, believe Jon is a decent man who tried his best, could not be faulted for hard work, must be remembered for the work he did on the community side, but unfortunately came up short. Now this decision has been made we are faced with what might be the most important appointment the club will make since we reformed. We can't afford to get it wrong, but now is the time for all of us to get behind the Board, turn up on Saturday and get behind the team, and look forwards.

He was a very nice man clearly, possibly too nice in fact! I believe he worked hard and in his own mind felt he had the good of the football club at heart and believed he could turn it around. That said, he unfortunately couldn't acknowledge the team or his own failings, nor when it was clearly time to finish at the end of last season. I do wish him the best of luck however!
Moving forward, we need a manager with experience of working on a very tight budget and with a very limited squad of players. What's more, we need someone with ambition that once we've finally pulled out of the immediate danger of relegation, we don't just give up and aim for 50 points, but instead push for lower mid-table, mid-table, upper mid-table, the playoffs - wherever the next benchmark is that we can be proud of.
Learning our lesson and being sensible with contract-length would also be desirable.

What utter nonsense.
Why is it sad to see the idiot leave Chester F C ?
