Wasn't my first choice out of the alleged shortlist, but trust the board that they've made the right decision and looking forward to him bringing a different style of play to the Deva.
Welcome Marcus.

Welcome Marcus. Seemed the be the obvious choice all along and the fact we were mentioning him as early as last season says it all!

Was my first choice overall, although wouldn't have minded the most successful candidate Richard Money but he's Southern-based.
All the best of luck to the Big man x

Welcome Marcus.
I hope you realise what a massive task you've got to keep us up.
I hope you can win us a home game.
Lots of players at the club who are deadwood.
Good luck!

Was my third choice behind Barrow and Money. However, I wish him the very best and hopefully can sort out this absolute mess that McCarthy has been allowed to make.

Pleased with this! - seems to be the right fit for our ethos. Should be warmly welcomed on Saturday
Now, please can we cut him some slack whilst he's setting up the team in the way he wants. No manager will satisfy 100% of the fanbase, some won't be happy, some will but whatever your view, he and the team need our support to start turning our season around
Look forward to his press conferences as to how he sees things developing

Let's hope the board have got this one right, and Bignot is the massive success we all want for our club, I'll reserve judgement on the appointment for now. Can't quite understand the hysteria for him on here and twitter though! It's almost as if some people seem to think he's going to bring guaranteed success and increased attendances( which I hope he does) But I'll take the cautious approach for now.

I fear that whoever got the job faces an impossible task, the whole club needs a full sense check and review otherwise we will continue to go backwards no matter who the manager is.
Welcome Marcus I wish you all the very best.

We'll see with this one. The lack of improvement at Barrow when he went up their as assistant has to be concerning given he can't get his own players he's likely have to do the best he can with this lot.

Just wanted to say how brilliant it is that nobody has mentioned his ethnicity (reference to a previous thread if you don't get the joke) Joking aside.... Welcome to the club Marcus, you have a very tough job on your hands!

Must be good if he got the job, ahead of Barrow. Not my first choice, but I wish him well. Might be the resent national league level experience that's got him the job, and recent experience of working on a budget with Solihull

You could say the same about Chesterfields lack of improvement since Barrow was assistant , hope he gets time to make the changes that are needed. I liked the bit in the artical about health and nutrition that might be a kickstart to Astles losing a few pounds😀.

Relax, we are in good hands now. Although its still going to be tough to keep us up with this current bunch, need a few ins and outs. Only Richard Money could potential rival him but couldn't see that as a go-er. Just saw Bignot's interview, speaks well and has a sense of humour (he will need one). Interesting he knows Tom Shaw from his days at Rushden and wants him as a player coach still with an assistant manager also joining.

Happy with this.
Real job starts now of course, and a home win on Sat will sent him up nicely.
He's the one out of the very good short list that I preferred as he has worked successfully at this level on a low budget.
I will judge him at the end of the season only. His ambition at this time should be to keep us up.

For anybody who hasn't found the article below yet, its a good read and I believe explains why he is the man for the job. thesetpieces.com/interviews/marcus-bignot-interview-bridging-gap-mens-womens-football/DerrickOz: I agree with you. Thanks for posting this excellent background article. I think a gpod decision has been made but he must be given adequate time to gat things moved around to his his ways. Well done the CFU Board!

Just seen his press interview
I'd love to be a fly on the wall when he addresses the squad
I think one or two players might have a little bit of a rude awakening Get the impression it's his way or the highway (something that's sorely needed right now)
