Well done and best wishes for success this season to Marcus Bignot. The club have announced his appointment, but nothing more, so we don't know any Contractual terms.Unfortunately he has been available and willing all season, so the Board, no doubt under strong influence by Maguire, have kept him away from managing the club for the opening eleven games and created a mountain for him to climb, denying him the opportunity to assemble his preferred squad in the process. It appears we have a new manager with 3 months experience of managing at this level. Without knowing ANY contractual terms we have people claiming he is definitely not the cheap option. Truth is we don't know. Most worrying is the comment from Maguire that at interview "...then Marcus blew us away with his presentation" Did he not say exactly the same about McCarthy? Obviously he will draw people's comments that he was not first choice for them. In winning a popularity poll he won 32% which means 68% didn't vote for him. All I do know is that he is not McCarthy so that's good enough for me. Welcome to all that goes with being Chester FC manager. 68% didn’t vote for him but about 65% of those are happy with his appointment.. plenty of people saying I wanted Barrow but delighted with this. He isn’t the cheap option as I can guarentee there were much cheaper options available to the club. Also, 32% was the highest figure and he was the most popular vote. |

A couple have asked, without response, so I guess no one knows. What are terms/duration of his contract. I noted he talked about longevity in a job and building structure. well who wouldn't? JM was very good in this respect also. I read he lost his first 7 games for Solihull-i think it was-he won't be afforded that luxury here! Seems likeable and up beat so hope he does well as any Chester fan would.

I will give Bignot a chance but I think he will ultimately fail as his record is dodgy to say the least.

Living near Solihull Moors I have seen first hand the way he built them up and transformed things on and off the field. If he is able to replicate something along the same lines for us we will do ok. In fact having seen what he can do I am hopeful bordering on excited that he just could be the man to bring some happier successful times to our club.

Higgins was never a serious contender.
He's an absolute chancer who thought he could get his name in the limelight. I have one or two people close to me who know about him, and he's seen as a bit of a prick.

I see Mark Sampson is to leave the England Women's Manager job. Bignot would have been an ideal replacement for him especially in view of all the 'discrimination' allegations going around. Hope he doesn't leave us as soon as he's started. What a very strange post. |
